A mi me sucedió exactamente lo mismo con "Chasing Sheep Is Best Left to Shepherds" de "The Draughtsman's Contract" Descubrí a Nyman en 1982 cuando yo tenía 19 años. Nunca he dejado de escucharlo.
I know this orchestra! BASF isn't far from where I live. They always have great programming with the majority of the concerts including music post 1900. Never knew they commissioned a Nyman piece, though!
Sincerely, I'd prefer Nyman to stick to what's best, being an "audiovisual-applied" composer. His style is perfectly suited to that, outside that Field it doesn't work that well.
It was Greenaway's film that brought Michael Nyman to my attention. A real "what have I just listened to" moment. I've been listening ever since.

My favourite piece . Makes the hairs stand up
What a glorious racket!
No, no, no. These are from Making a Splash, not Water Wrackets.

Stroking, (4:15 to 11:00) sounds like very early Cat Stevens.
que maravilla
Love the speeded up jaunty ending
I like Nyoman, but this is the first piece of his that I have heard. So next I will listen some to his works for piano.
❤
Where can a buy this concert ?
I love this. but I don't think I like this as well as the versions in the actual movie or on the Kiss CD.
