Initially my dad was Catholic and my mom (former Catholic who went astray, then returned to Christianity to a Protestant church) was Protestant. Eventually, my dad decided to quit Catholicism. Today, I have a greater admiration for Catholicism than either of them. I’m Protestant, and I was educated alongside Catholics. I’ve looked into the Catechism regarding marriage, and it seems solid. There is a marital clause about raising your kids up in the faith, but I think you’re fine so long as you’re both Christian and have a certain degree of tolerance for little disagreements, so long as both of you are firmly devoted to God. I wouldn’t let disagreements on Transsubstantiation block me from loving the woman God has in store for me, whether she’s Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant. The Bible as we know it was compiled in the Synod of the year 393 (a Catholic Synod that took place in Hippo), the following Synods did not add or took away books, they only ratified what was done in the Synod of Hippo.

I'm a Roman Catholic. I like this show; I find it interesting and compassionate. I agree with most of the points in this episode, but yet again, Catholic "Dogma" as it is put is not accurately represented. The Church absolutely does not teach that Mary intercedes for us to the Father. Jesus is the only intercessor for us to the Father Jn 4:16. We do believe in intercessory prayer to Jesus, just as our protestant brothers and sisters believe. Mary prays for/with us just as my Baptist neighbor Bill prays for me. I want both sets of prayers, especially Mary's--afterall she now looks on the face of her Son and has achieved through HIS power ultimate union with Him in heaven. Peace to all and Jn 17:21!
Try googling the words "Mary intercessor" and what comes up is rather enlightening and contradicts what you have written. I agree with you that there is only One intercessor, Jesus Christ, but it doesn't look like that is what the RC religion teaches. Ask living saints to pray for you. But people who have died? We are not to consult the dead in any way... King Saul did, and it didn't do him much good... because we are not supposed to do that! Anyway, if the saints who are no longer with us in this earthly life are indeed praying for us (I'm not sure that's anywhere in Scripture, can you show me?), then they are doing that anyway, so there's no point in asking... because they would be praying perfectly as they are with the Lord. Bottom line: Jesus taught us to pray to the Father... Paul prayed to the Father (e.g. Ephesians 3:14-21). And Paul asked for prayer for himself. Who did he ask? Brethren living in his time.
Joshua Sniffen Sorry, Joshua, but it doesn't sound like you understand your own religion. Roman Catholics clearly pray to Mary to intercede on their behalf. Maybe they don't do it in your particular area, but it has been done historically for hundreds of years. Catholic Encyclopedia (New Advent): Entry on "Intercession (Mediation)": "(2) The doctrine of one Mediator, Christ, *in no way excludes the invocation and intercession of saints.* All merit indeed comes through Him; but *this does not make it unlawful to ask our fellow-creatures,* whether here on earth *or already in heaven, to help us by their prayers."* (emphasis added) It's clear that Roman Catholics pray to Mary and saints to intercede on their behalf.
I am not sure you read Joshua's response clearly. We do believe in the intercession of Mary. But, Mary intercedes for us to Jesus, not to the Father. He stated that. Just for clarification.
Mary, when she was on the earth, she believed that Jesus is the saviour. So when she believed that Jesus is the saviour, we should understand that Jesus is the only saviour. Therefore, I don't understand the point of bringing Mary in between us and God. when God can hear our prayers, we can approach him directly.
Jesus died and I pray to Him! I pray to Him because He is the Resurrection and the Life! I don't believe Mary and Paul are dead. They died with Christ, and thus are more alive than you and me--as alive as I hope we will both be one day! When a Protestant says the Catholic Church teaches the Eucharist is "transformed" and that Mary "didn't need a savior," I immediately know the Protestant doesn't have a clue what they're talking about. Note that I cited the catechism regarding the fact that we believe Mary DID in fact have a savior, something that these Protestants mistakenly didn't know, and in fact used their strawman as an attack on Catholicism. This shows that Protestants don't understand Catholicism, therefore they don't understand Christianity.
I pray that God will help His church understand that He sees them as ONE. You won't carry your denomination to heaven. Our focus should be on Jesus and making heaven on the last day. Catholic and Protestants all believe in Jesus and that's what matters. The Bible is our standard and nothing more!

I agree: don't enter a mixed marriage. Catholics and Protestants are both Christians. We should love each other. Doesn't mean you should marry It might work if 1 or both partners are somewhat passive in their faith and can compromise on family teachings/raising kids. Otherwise build a foundation with someone who shares your deep convictions. It's just the most practical long term
If this is a real concern and you are truly interested in learning what the Catholic Church ACTUALLY believes, I suggest going to sources that are not bias, as this so clearly is. Catholic Answers is a good source, as is the Catechism of the Catholic Church. I've dated a protestant before, a real good guy, but our ignorance of eachothers faiths, as well as our own faiths tore us apart, God showed me I needed to stop hating on my seperated brothers and sisters in Christ, many which only dislike Catholics because of what others have told them and because of what they misunderstand and think we believe. Many years have passed and now I'm a catechist as well as a missionary who works with BOTH protestants and Catholics evangelizing along side eachother encourging the bride of Christ, His church. I strongly believe we can bridge the gap! Both can learn SO much from eachother if we only remove our preconceived notions of what we THINK the other believes and do our OWN research and pray God enlighten us and guid us. Jesus' words in John 6:51 and following state that life comes to the world by eating His bread which is His flesh. Jesus repeats this same thing in verse 53, 54, 55, 56, 57 and 58. Does Scripture have any other topic where same thing was stated by Jesus seven times in a row? Once I learned about this discourse by Jesus it would be hard for me to not believe the Catholic faith which takes Jesus seriously on something He stated so many times.

my wife is Catholic. I married her while i was agnostic. Grew up as a pastor's kid in the Baptist church but left the faith. I decided for Christ 5 months ago as a new born again believer. My marriage has been TERRIBLE since that decision. we are so unbalanced now. It largly stems from me though. I know just a huge load of Catholic Dogma now. I read a ton of Catechism to understand if she was a true believer in christ or if she believed what i knew as truth. SHe has head knowledge but zero walk with Christ directly. SHe has a firm belief in Mary but not Jesus. Mary is someone she LOVES a great deal but doesn't approach Jesus much it seams. She grew up in it so she feels shes covered under doctrin since baby baptism. Ive tried to reach her with scripture but it ends in terrible fights with her feeling greatly offended and upset. even when scripture pokes holes in her dogma she gets irate with me. Im not sure what to do honestly.
I came from a Protestant tradition and am now Catholic. If you marry a Protestant Christian who was baptized and has a record of that, then it seems to me it would be fine to be married to them. But I agree that the Catholic Church is misrepresented at times. I still believe that we are saved through Christ alone, BUT, that works are important only when we have faith in Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross. And it's important what you said, MARY NEEDED A SAVIOR AS WELL. She knew it also. I agree with the Eucharist and what it is. After all Jesus said this IS my body, this IS my blood. It doesn't have to look like literal blood and a body of a cadaver. Christ says it is what it is.
This IS my body....is what Luther said. That goes beyond the Roman Catholic Church says when it BECOMES the body and blood. It's way closer than most Protestant churches with their memorial only position like reformed (Calvinist) and Baptist and Presbyterian etc. So again...don't mix Protestant denominations. My ancestors are Catholics but we become more Protestant in present day. Protestant don't have that problem with to marry any other Christians, only Catholics that have issue.

Hi Tee Kay, The bible also says that we are saved by grace and not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9) and that is a gift of God.The verse you are referring to is James 2:24. Here what James is saying is that true faith produces good works and false faith does not produce any works. The bible says that Abraham was credited righteousness because of his faith. Read Romans 3 and 4.
I was confused about James 2 for quite some time because it took contradictory to what was said in Galatians and Romans. Was Paul and James contradicting each other? The answer is no, and that's where the context of the passage becomes extremely importantly when it comes to interpreting the bible. James is speaking to church MEMBERS, who ALREADY have faith. I urge you to read more into this because it is interesting. Also, one of the biggest misunderstanding is that the Catholics DOES believe that faith ALONE saves, but true faith will show the fruits of the spirit.
Respectfully, I have a lot to say about this video, but I only say that if should be retitled to “Is it okay for a Catholic to marry someone who’s non denominational or Baptist” because that’s where you’re leaning. Martin Luther, Methodist, and many Episcopalians and such believe many things that he said Protestants do not believe.
As a former Protestant who now is Catholic this video presents a false vision of Catholicism. He is right though that the Catholic Church doesn’t support mixed marriages generally speaking, though she will perform them if both spouses agree to raise their kids Catholic.
I am a Protestant with a history of backsliding, my wife of 5 months is a non-practicing Catholic. Despite my history my knowledge of the Word is much greater than hers and I'd like to know how best to help her know the Bible better, while at the same time help us both grow in our Walk with Jesus. After spending time looking for a church, we've found the church I think we both are good with. I'm seeking to have more stability in my Walk with Jesus, while hoping that she will learn more about being a Christian. Let me add that she is from the Northeast USA while I'm from a more Southern background and that seems to play a part in her view of church and mine. Any advice would be appreciated.
In Protestantism, their Gospel has for 500 years, taught that Baptism and the Eucharist are mere symbols that do not confer Grace. Marriage is not a Sacrament of Grace in many and the doctrine of Once Saved Always Saved has replaced the Sacramental Grace of Reconciliation. How can a Catholic and a Protestant become one and teach the faith to their children under those conditions?
To those who keep on commenting that they married a catholic, protestant or what not, and they find no problem with it. IT IS ONLY because you don't take your belief seriously. But once you put the word of God on top of your priority list, you will pray for someone who has the same levels of faith with you because your goal is to marry someone who will pray, fast, soak, and worship with you. You cant do that if you have differences. Imagine your partner asking you to pray the rosary and ask for the intercession of Mary when you are a protestant. But if you dont care about it and that you are willing to drop your belief, of course it will work. And that should not be surprising.
Then how many differences are acceptable? Lutherans are closer to Catholics than Calvinists. Anglicans are closer to Catholics than Calvinists. By your logic, you shouldn’t even marry a Lutheran or a Moravian. Can a Presbyterian marry a Baptist? Can a Primitive Baptist marry a Free Will Baptist? Where is the line?
Catholics and Protestants have been marrying each other in my family since the Reformation. They've suffered for it. But it gives one a nice perspective of both views.

Key word is "unless" because it tells us that this is a result of our faith, not a means of our faith. It's the Spirit in us that leads to communion not communion that leads to the Spirit in us. If communion was a requirement for salvation, it would read: until you eat..., you do not have life within you or you must eat to have life. That's not what the Bible says, as it says in Ephesians, "we are saved by faith alone in Christ alone." Communion is what believers do, not what needs to be done to be saved. Jesus fulfilled the law, all we need to do is believe in him and have eternal life. So, you could say, communion is evidence of faith, not a means of faith or salvation.

Catholic equates to universal. I find almost every time you talk about how some Catholics don’t believe in some aspects of their faith, throughout this talk. which I’m sure there are, but overall, most Catholics love our faith. Not one person is perfect. That is why we believe in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Actually, some non-Catholic denominations do believe in that, as well. We make mistakes, but doesn’t mean we disagree. Or I shod say most of us don’t.. No disrespect to you, I thought your talk was passionate, but Catholics and non-Catholics do have some major differences, regardless a lot of love for one another. In regards to the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther states the 95 issues that the Catholic Church had been affiliated with, because they were corrupt. Yeah, it's best to marry someone who believes similarly to you. Otherwise you will have some trouble understanding each other and passing on religion to your children. I think it's possible for a Catholic to marry a Protestant, but as a Catholic i would much prefer to marry another Catholic. I want someone I can go to Mass with and receive the Eucharist with. And also Protestants often don't understand my faith so well. And this video has some common misconceptions about the Catholic Church which I have heard from many Protestants. Though the overall message is a good one.
Well that's the twisted problem. For whatever reason, most "non-denominational evangelical" Christians do no consider Catholics as Christians. Not particularly sure the logic behind it being as prior to the reformation it was effectively just THE Catholic Church. You know, the church that gave every single 30,000 denomination or "non-denomination" our there the bible they are using? Pretty sure the bible did not appear out of thin air. @@firingallcylinders2949 We and the Orthodox have the Gospel that the Apostles taught the Church. Fr. Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, King Henry, et al created and taught other gospels. Fr. Luther added the word "alone" after faith to his German Bible in Romans 3:28. His canon reverted back to using the Jerusalem Old Testament used by the Pharisees and those 7 "disputed" books were eventually dropped from published bible. Fr. Luther also disputed Hebrews, James, Jude and Revelation and wanted those to become Apocryphal

Just like your parents or boss have authority over you, Mary is the mother of God, Queen of Heaven - highest of all creatures. Show respect to the Queen, for she truly does have authority over you and IS the Immaculate Conception - which is to say, has always and will always do the will of God. When we do Her will, we do the will of God. She is Full of Grace!
In my personal opinion I find American Protestantism especially ignorant in the actual Catholic Theology. I do not blame them but I think its the product of being geographically separated from europe as well as many early settlers in America being protestant and having a general distaste for the church. That culture of anti catholic rhetoric and isolation from europe leads to an evangelical theology and why the two faiths are at such odds. Protestantism has many different interpretations, Catholicism has one unified theology with written documents and records spanning 2000 years. If anyone is really interested in what Catholics actually believe and why, start with the early church and what they believed and the history of the Eucharist ( the real presence of Christ's body and blood) it may surprise you.

In fairness, as a Catholic, the Church (Catholic) tolerates marriages to non-Catholics and discourages it. That’s why the priest has to get a dispensation (permission) from the Bishop.
Nidhya Joseph you have to go to the priest who is preparing you for marriage. If he isn’t your pastor (your pastor is the pastor of the parish in which you reside (parishes have geographical boundaries. Consult the Diocese if you don’t know which parish your residence falls into. It isn’t necessarily the closest church to where you live), and not necessarily the same priest who is at the parish you attend. If the priest isn’t your pastor according to canon law, the priest doing your marriage prep has to get permission from your pastor first. Then the priest has to get permission from the bishop for you and your non-Catholic fiancé to marry. Your non-Catholic fiancé must promise not to interfere with you raising your children in the Catholic faith and you must promise to raise your children in the Catholic faith. If you fiancé isn’t baptized (in a recognized baptism, ie: the Church doesn’t recognize LDS baptisms) the priest has to apply for a disparity of cult. You cannot have a Catholic or Sacramental marriage in such a case. Your marriage will only be a natural marriage with none of the sacramental graces and helps you would get with a sacramental marriage. If your fiancé is a baptized Christian, the priest has to apply for a Dispensation from the Bishop. The bishop or his delegate can refuse to grant either. It’s a lot of standard paperwork that priests are all too familiar with doing.

I’m so confused. I’m Protestant, but I have a crush on a girl who’s a catholic. I want to date her, but I don’t want to go against my faith either… why does our religion have to separate us? We both believe in god… we both love god… it’s not like I can change her either because that’s not my job. Why do Catholics have to have these weird views on us Protestants? And why do protestants have to have weird views on Catholics? Aren’t we supposed to love eachother and help eachother? What’s the point of judging each other for our views? It’s just so frustrating. I am a Christian married to a Christian woman, we come from different denominations of Christianity. I had a date with a Catholic girl when I was in high school, I didn’t know she was Catholic had a fun date, found out she was Catholic, remained friends with her but never asked her out again. Protestants really seem to have a gap in their aesthetic messages and their rituals as well. I am agnostic with a tilt towards the great western defender that is Catholicism, but I just get confused when I see no grit, spirituality, or push towards a greater message amongst the "Kumbaya" Protestants. They have this culture of "Jesus loves you, and he's your buddy." If one proclaims their catholic it doesn't matter that they don't believe some or a lot of the catholic teachings they don't qualify to be married to a Christian. That's like saying I don't believe in a lot of things that go on in a strip club but I like going there.
my wife is Catholic. I married her while i was agnostic. Grew up as a pastor's kid in the Baptist church but left the faith. I decided for Christ 5 months ago as a new born again believer. My marriage has been TERRIBLE since that decision. we are so unbalanced now. It largly stems from me though. I know just a huge load of Catholic Dogma now. I read a ton of Catechism to understand if she was a true believer in christ or if she believed what i knew as truth. SHe has head knowledge but zero walk with Christ directly. SHe has a firm belief in Mary but not Jesus. Mary is someone she LOVES a great deal but doesn't approach Jesus much it seams. She grew up in it so she feels shes covered under doctrin since baby baptism. Ive tried to reach her with scripture but it ends in terrible fights with her feeling greatly offended and upset. even when scripture pokes holes in her dogma she gets irate with me. Im not sure what to do honestly.

This entire passage is a callback to Moses and the manner and it hints at the bronze serpent. “The LORD said to Moses, "Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live." So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.” Whoever looks upon the son and believes in him will live. Except that the reformation did not reform anything. In fact, they do not even follow the teachings of Luther. For example, most protestants bauptize babies, a few dont, others do not even believe in water bauptisim. Some worship saturdays, others don't, some believe in the Trinity, others dont. Catholics don't pray to Mary... so sick of hearing this... we ask Mary to intercede and pray for us, but she is not a god/deity and thus is not prayed to...
What's the distinction between asking someone to intercede and praying to someone? I can ask someone who is alive, a fellow brother or sister to pray for me but if I were to ask someone who has died, there is a substantial distinction right? You are literally communicating with a dead person.
Mary is dead, so it's not the same as asking one of my living friends to pray for me. If I ask a dead person to interced for me, why it is different from "praying"?. You use different words but the meaning stays.
Brett R Hey there! Hope you’re doing well! I think the reason why the Catholic Church hasn’t stated anything against it is because of the historical context. Back then, people couldn’t read the Bible because it was written in Latin and nobility or the upper class could only read it. Therefore, the Catholic Church had made stained glass, sculptures, and even early theater inside the church. This helped instruct the lower class or those who couldn’t read about who certain figures of the Bible work and the stories that were told in the Bible. For example, the statue of Saint Peter helps people to visually see who he was and what he represented. The statues are NOT being prayed to, however people have different reactions to certain things. Another example seen in another religion is the sacred wall in Israel. Millions of Christians and Jews go to that sacred spot to pray against the wall, because they find it to be the holiest spot in the world. I think that these different forms of art and architecture allowed people to visually see and be impacted by the context of these pieces of art. I hope this helps a little bit!

Yes, you're right, Mary told the servants to listen to him in John 2: verse 5.. but in verse 3-4 who was it that told Jesus it was time, time to do His will, His own will, even Jesus questioned her, questioned the timing, but it was Mary who knew, and knew only through God, that His will must be done, and at that moment.. Jesus listened. This verse alone is enough for me as a catholic to ask for Mother Mary's to intercede for me, but always Gods will be done. let me finish with referring to Corinthians 12; 5-7 again, we are all loving and living with the same Almighty, separation does not bring salvation.. lets love one another and praise Him..
The true church is founded upon Peter (matt 16:18), has the authority to bind and loose and will exist in all centuries as a governing authority (Matt: 18:17- ) Not only is your church not founded upon Peter, its never made a binding decision on all the faithful. The only church that has done that is the Catholic church and that is the only reason why you believe in the "Essentials": The Trinity The homoousious nature of God The Hypostatic Union The Canon The Denial of all known heresies None of those are explicit in scripture, but because Jesus left a church that can "Bind and Loose on heaven and on earth", then if heaven cannot affirm a false teaching, then this church will bind and loose infallibly until his return. Only one church fits that bill and it isn't protestant but is instead the Roman Catholic church which has the chair of Peter, has existed in all centuries and is the only church to have ever made a binding decision that all the faithful believe. Yes, it is okay for a Protestant to marry a Catholic. Our church officially teaches that you guys are saved....you just don't have the whole universal Christian truth handed down by the apostles that you were meant to have an know.

I think Catholics would acknowledge that the bread and wine are still physically bread and wine. In a spiritual sense, though, it is the body and blood of Jesus. At least, that is my understanding. I'm not Catholic, so please correct me if I'm wrong. Are we as Protestants not to acknowledge that we are spiritually taking Jesus into ourselves when we receive communion?
Catholics acknowledge that the Consecrated Bread and Wine continue to have the appearance of bread and wine (except for Eucharist miracles). However, we do not agree that the Eucharist is only spiritual. The only way to read the Bible and truly understand it, is to read it as a Jew from the period. If you read it like a 21st century layman like this man, you’ll have no idea what you are talking about! I think most people in the Catholic church don't know everything that their church believes. I've spoken to many that just are ignorant not to their own fault. But at the same time they don't know what the bible says at the same time. So maybe we just need to help those that we can.
As a former Catholic, many Catholics believe that Protestants have a misconception that Catholics "pray to Mary" rather they are solely asking Mary to pray for them (i.e. to convey their prayers to Jesus who is more likely to hear her prayers being that she is the Queen Mother) It's important to realize that **idolatry is not what you believe, it is what you do***. It's besides the point that the RCC condemns worship of Mary. It's the action that is at issue. Just like how money can also be an idol. To further elaborate, you do not need to believe that money is your God, or worship it, however, the way you prioritize it and act towards it is what makes it's idolatry. All the Apostles likely knew Mary well. They all experienced pain and suffering yet they never prayed to her. If Mary was so vital to a Christian's life even one prayer to her would have been enough. The NT is filled with directions on how the Church must conduct itself, however, with little reference to the traditions practiced by the RCC. The RCC believes that rejecting Marian Dogmas will send you directly to hell. Again, if it was so important why did the Apostles never talk about it?? It's clear once you study Church history and when where these traditions were included you actually understand why the RCC is where it is. The RCC must first repent and know what Jesus Christ's sacrifice truly means for justifying us. The rest will fall in place.
Nowhere in the bible does it claim that it should have everything in it to be believed in. Jesus left 12 apostles, not a book. So I suggest you look into the teachings of the apostles and their successors (the church fathers). And btw, if there is a way of distinguishing the act of worship and veneration, I suggest you tell us what it is. The Protestants kneel before the Bible and kiss the Bible. According to what you said, they are idolaters. They worship a book by kneeling to it and kissing it while saying, God forgive me. You have to understand, that the way of expression of worship and veneration can be similar, but the intention of the believer is what distinguishes it.

My father is baptized Protestant but not church goer. My mother is a practising Roman Catholic. When they got married in the Roman Catholic church, my dad had to promise the church that all children would be raised Catholic. We had a fantastic schooling and moral upbringing there, but the problem arose when I was in confirmation class and I told the priest I had read the New Testament and nowhere did it say Mary ascended into heaven. He said "That's why its called the Feast of the Assumption, because its assumed she was too holy to die and she ascended into heaven like Jesus did." I said that I couldn't believe in something that's assumed and its not in the Bible. So he refused to let me be confirmed and I was in huge trouble. I ended up on a long spiritual journey from there, getting almost baptized into a nasty cult, then finding myself in my Dad's church. Its across the road from my mums one and I waved at them going in a few times. Dad is tempted at times to come with me. I would have to go to confession if i wanted to have communion at mum's church, but mum can have it at ours. All the rules!
I am beginning my journey in understanding if I truly belong in the Roman Catholic Church or not. There are some things that just don't seem to add up and I find God convicting me of many things that I once held onto from the Catholic Church. Peace be with you.

You had 7 minutes to speak to Roman Catholics (I'm sure at least 100 or so of the 2,700 viewers to this point were Catholic). Why didn't you spend it on sharing the gospel with them? This was an opportunity to take a stand for the gospel (and to direct Christians that the gospel is our primary measuring stick for being equally yoked). You spent 20 seconds making a brief mention of "salvation by grace through faith alone", said "the Catholic church is still a little bit edgy about that particular verbiage", and then changed the subject quickly to other areas of difference.

The early church fathers, from the Apostles that Jesus hand picked, to the same disciples who canonized the Bible, all believed in the same dogmas as the Roman Catholic Church. Martin Luther even believed that Mary was a perpetual virgin and immaculately conceived, and had a devotion to her. These dogmas are true, and believed by that majority of Christians in the world, it is Protestants who hold the minority view. Read the early church fathers, if you dare, and you will find they were Catholic.
Well, maybe early church "fathers" believed that Mary was assumed into Heaven or was a perpetual virgin, or even immaculately conceived; this however is found nowhere in the Gospels or the Epistles. None of it, because there is not evidence for it. Just because the early Christians thought this does not make it true. Reading some of Paul's letters and the 7 Letters to the 7 Churches in Revelations just shows that even when the Apostles were ALIVE, false teaching and dogma was finding its way into the Body of Christ. What more would find its way in after the Apostles passed away, and weren't able to refute it?

All of humanity under the New Covenant in Christ's Blood must be regenerated through Baptism of water, the Trinitarian formula and reception of the Holy Spirit. We are not at enmity with Satan prior to Baptism and unfortunately must personally strive to overcome concupiscence thereafter. However, God tells Satan in Genesis: "15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His Heel.” It requires Divine action for a person to be born at enmity with Satan. The Trinity predestined and saved His mother, blessed her with the full component of Grace (abundance of virtues) at her conception to combat the demonic in every generation. We, the faithful in Christ, are her children: Rev 12:17 "17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring-those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus."

Additionally, James and Joseph (2 of the 4 brothers) are later identified as sons of Mary, wife of Clopas in Mt. 27:56 and Jn 19:25. Jews historically used their words for "brother" and "sister" to mean siblings, relatives, distant relatives or associates. Abraham call Lot his brother when in actuality he was his nephew.

However, my son told her before they got married; that he did NOT believe as RCC does. Plus, "I will never become a Catholic; because it is a heretical religion". Her respond was, "I have never been a "devout" Catholic. So, I just go to it because my parents raised me that way; and they insist that my children be brought up as Catholics". Now, to really answer the question; I would NEVER suggest that ANY protestant marry a Catholic. Reason: The so-called "Roman Catholic Church" is nothing more; than an extension of the old Roman Empire. Oh indeed. And that empire did NOT really "fall"; as history said it did, in 476 AD. They simply realized they were NOT going to exist; IF they stayed as it was. Therefore, they decided to infiltrate the fast growing "Christian" movement back then. Further: they took over the Christians (except for the Born Again Christians-that went underground). And the goal was to destroy Christianity completely. (Similar to what America, AND the world, is doing right now...Sad indeed!) Thus, the Romans made a myriad of laws and protocols; that would cause that to come to fruition. So they tortured and murdered (in the most heinous of ways) true Born Again Christians; from 538 AD until 1798 AD (1,260 yrs. AKA: "Time, times and half time"). And on that last day; they realized that there was NO way to destroy true Christianity. Amen and Praise Jesus. But that is still their goal; to this day and to their death. Believe it or not. Finally: EVERY iota of the Roman Catholic "Cult" (as I coined it); is "Archaic Roman", rooted into every thing they do or say. This is why their churches look very much like the old "Caesar's palaces" (168 BC to 476 AD). Oh indeed. Right down to their clothing, etc. Thus, they are one of the richest, satan-led, Godless, wretched religions; to have ever inhabited this planet. End of story. Initially my dad was Catholic and my mom (former Catholic who went astray, then returned to Christianity to a Protestant church) was Protestant. Eventually, my dad decided to quit Catholicism. Today, I have a greater admiration for Catholicism than either of them. I’m Protestant, and I was educated alongside Catholics. I’ve looked into the Catechism regarding marriage, and it seems solid. There is a marital clause about raising your kids up in the faith, but I think you’re fine so long as you’re both Christian and have a certain degree of tolerance for little disagreements, so long as both of you are firmly devoted to God. I wouldn’t let disagreements on Transsubstantiation block me from loving the woman God has in store for me, whether she’s Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant. God bless you all, and may a mutual love of God make your marriage holy.

Praying to anyone else to "intercede for us" is idolatry. There is no one else that can intercede for us in Heaven besides Jesus Christ Himself. Not even Mary can pray for us, only Jesus Christ.

Learn History, the Bible compilation was done by the Catholic Church, and the final compilation was made in the Hippo Synod (393), and this Canon was used by Pope Saint Damasus I. One thing is a mediator, and another is intercession, "like when the pastor intercedes (prays to God) for his community." The intercession is in the Bible, for example when Elisha prayed to God for the son of the Shunem lady (2Kings, 4, 8-37).
Protestants do not believe in the REAL PRESENCE OF CHRIST IN THE EUCHARIST, WHICH IS BIBLICAL (read the Gospel of John); and the protestants reject what is said in this Gospel; the ones that do not believe in this are mentioned in John 6,66. Mary interceded for the ones mentioned in the Weddings of Cana (in John"s Gospel). And God is a God of alive persons, not death ones (Mark 12,27).
Just by knowing History lead us to show that the first Christians where Catholic; also, there were no other Christians than Catholics up until the Schism of 1054, when the Orthodox rejected the authority of the Pope; later, Luther, a Catholic priest, who received the Bible from the Catholic Church, formed his sect (the Lutheran Church, mother of all present day Protestants), this was done on the 31 of October of 1517.
Also, the division of chapters and verses was done by the Catholic Church. Remember that the first Protestant was the devil, and he attacked Christ using the Holy Scripture. And by common sense, why do you think that the Anti-Christ number is 666, and that the ones who reject Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist are the ones mentioned in John 6,66?
If you really pray to God and ask him which church is the Church, He will tell you. And a real Catholic person does not hate Protestants, even though he or she hates Protestantism; a real Catholic hates sin, but not the sinner.
If you only knew what a good Mother does for her children, you will know what Virgin Mary does for all of us by praying to Her Son, Jesus Christ. God made me a lot of miracles through her intercession, one that I can mention is that because of God through her intercession blinded my enemies who were going to kill me (about 1992 or 1993).

@@elvisisacs3955 The Reformers took 7 books out of the Bible, they followed the example of the Jamnia Synod of the Jews (about the year 90 A. C.), which was a synod against Christ.
The Bible as we know it was compiled in the Synod of the year 393 (a Catholic Synod that took place in Hippo), the following Synods did not add or took away books, they only ratified what was done in the Synod of Hippo.

I'm a Roman Catholic. I like this show; I find it interesting and compassionate. I agree with most of the points in this episode, but yet again, Catholic "Dogma" as it is put is not accurately represented. The Church absolutely does not teach that Mary intercedes for us to the Father. Jesus is the only intercessor for us to the Father Jn 4:16. We do believe in intercessory prayer to Jesus, just as our protestant brothers and sisters believe. Mary prays for/with us just as my Baptist neighbor Bill prays for me. I want both sets of prayers, especially Mary's--afterall she now looks on the face of her Son and has achieved through HIS power ultimate union with Him in heaven. Peace to all and Jn 17:21!
Try googling the words "Mary intercessor" and what comes up is rather enlightening and contradicts what you have written.
I agree with you that there is only One intercessor, Jesus Christ, but it doesn't look like that is what the RC religion teaches.

We are not to consult the dead in any way... King Saul did, and it didn't do him much good... because we are not supposed to do that!
Anyway, if the saints who are no longer with us in this earthly life are indeed praying for us (I'm not sure that's anywhere in Scripture, can you show me?), then they are doing that anyway, so there's no point in asking... because they would be praying perfectly as they are with the Lord.
Bottom line: Jesus taught us to pray to the Father... Paul prayed to the Father (e.g. Ephesians 3:14-21). And Paul asked for prayer for himself. Who did he ask? Brethren living in his time.

Sorry, Joshua, but it doesn't sound like you understand your own religion. Roman Catholics clearly pray to Mary to intercede on their behalf. Maybe they don't do it in your particular area, but it has been done historically for hundreds of years.
Catholic Encyclopedia (New Advent): Entry on "Intercession (Mediation)":
"(2) The doctrine of one Mediator, Christ, *in no way excludes the invocation and intercession of saints.* All merit indeed comes through Him; but *this does not make it unlawful to ask our fellow-creatures,* whether here on earth *or already in heaven, to help us by their prayers."* (emphasis added)
It's clear that Roman Catholics pray to Mary and saints to intercede on their behalf.
I am not sure you read Joshua's response clearly. We do believe in the intercession of Mary. But, Mary intercedes for us to Jesus, not to the Father. He stated that. Just for clarification.
Mary, when she was on the earth, she believed that Jesus is the saviour. So when she believed that Jesus is the saviour, we should understand that Jesus is the only saviour. Therefore, I don't understand the point of bringing Mary in between us and God. when God can hear our prayers, we can approach him directly.
Jesus died and I pray to Him! I pray to Him because He is the Resurrection and the Life! I don't believe Mary and Paul are dead. They died with Christ, and thus are more alive than you and me--as alive as I hope we will both be one day! You have a great point about the saints already praying for us--but Christ is already praying for us, and we definitely want to continuously be united to him in prayer. Peace to you and pray always.
When a Protestant says the Catholic Church teaches the Eucharist is "transformed" and that Mary "didn't need a savior," I immediately know the Protestant doesn't have a clue what they're talking about. True. When he said "mary knew she needed a savior" I immediately thought "and who do you think saved Mary from original sin in the first place?" .These misunderstandings bother me. Are you kidding? Did you even read this comment thread? The Protestant in the video was corrected as to what Catholic teaching is. Note that I cited the catechism regarding the fact that we believe Mary DID in fact have a savior, something that these Protestants mistakenly didn't know, and in fact used their strawman as an attack on Catholicism.
This shows that Protestants don't understand Catholicism, therefore they don't understand Christianity.
I pray that God will help His church understand that He sees them as ONE. You won't carry your denomination to heaven.
Our focus should be on Jesus and making heaven on the last day. Catholic and Protestants all believe in Jesus and that's what matters. The Bible is our standard and nothing more!

I've dated a protestant before, a real good guy, but our ignorance of eachothers faiths, as well as our own faiths tore us apart, God showed me I needed to stop hating on my seperated brothers and sisters in Christ, many which only dislike Catholics because of what others have told them and because of what they misunderstand and think we believe. Many years have passed and now I'm a catechist as well as a missionary who works with BOTH protestants and Catholics evangelizing along side eachother encourging the bride of Christ, His church.
I strongly believe we can bridge the gap! Both can learn SO much from eachother if we only remove our preconceived notions of what we THINK the other believes and do our OWN research and pray God enlighten us and guid us. One of you was/is wrong. Two opposites cannot be both correct. You are in the ecumenical movent, and within that, the Roman church WILL prevail. You don't see Protestantism sending out Jesuit ursurpers trying to undermine Rome. Those Protestants are compromising, which God's word sternly warns against.

Jesus' words in John 6:51 and following state that life comes to the world by eating His bread which is His flesh. Jesus repeats this same thing in verse 53, 54, 55, 56, 57 and 58. Does Scripture have any other topic where same thing was stated by Jesus seven times in a row? Once I learned about this discourse by Jesus it would be hard for me to not believe the Catholic faith which takes Jesus seriously on something He stated so many times.

Obviously not born again nor spirit filled. When you become born again and the Holy Spirit enters you your life changes. That's what happened to me. I went from loving sin to loving holiness. I've never seen this in a Catholic.
my wife is Catholic. I married her while i was agnostic. Grew up as a pastor's kid in the Baptist church but left the faith. I decided for Christ 5 months ago as a new born again believer. My marriage has been TERRIBLE since that decision. we are so unbalanced now. It largly stems from me though. I know just a huge load of Catholic Dogma now. I read a ton of Catechism to understand if she was a true believer in christ or if she believed what i knew as truth. SHe has head knowledge but zero walk with Christ directly. SHe has a firm belief in Mary but not Jesus. Mary is someone she LOVES a great deal but doesn't approach Jesus much it seams. She grew up in it so she feels shes covered under doctrin since baby baptism. Ive tried to reach her with scripture but it ends in terrible fights with her feeling greatly offended and upset. even when scripture pokes holes in her dogma she gets irate with me. Im not sure what to do honestly.
I came from a Protestant tradition and am now Catholic. If you marry a Protestant Christian who was baptized and has a record of that, then it seems to me it would be fine to be married to them. But I agree that the Catholic Church is misrepresented at times. I still believe that we are saved through Christ alone, BUT, that works are important only when we have faith in Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross. And it's important what you said, MARY NEEDED A SAVIOR AS WELL. She knew it also. I agree with the Eucharist and what it is. After all Jesus said this IS my body, this IS my blood. It doesn't have to look like literal blood and a body of a cadaver. Christ says it is what it is.
This IS my body....is what Luther said. That goes beyond the Roman Catholic Church says when it BECOMES the body and blood. It's way closer than most Protestant churches with their memorial only position like reformed (Calvinist) and Baptist and Presbyterian etc. So again...don't mix Protestant denominations. Hi Tee Kay, The bible also says that we are saved by grace and not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9) and that is a gift of God.The verse you are referring to is James 2:24. Here what James is saying is that true faith produces good works and false faith does not produce any works. The bible says that Abraham was credited righteousness because of his faith. Read Romans 3 and 4.
I was confused about James 2 for quite some time because it took contradictory to what was said in Galatians and Romans. Was Paul and James contradicting each other? The answer is no, and that's where the context of the passage becomes extremely importantly when it comes to interpreting the bible. James is speaking to church MEMBERS, who ALREADY have faith. I urge you to read more into this because it is interesting. Also, one of the biggest misunderstanding is that the Catholics DOES believe that faith ALONE saves, but true faith will show the fruits of the spirit.

I am a Protestant with a history of backsliding, my wife of 5 months is a non-practicing Catholic. Despite my history my knowledge of the Word is much greater than hers and I'd like to know how best to help her know the Bible better, while at the same time help us both grow in our Walk with Jesus. After spending time looking for a church, we've found the church I think we both are good with. I'm seeking to have more stability in my Walk with Jesus, while hoping that she will learn more about being a Christian. Let me add that she is from the Northeast USA while I'm from a more Southern background and that seems to play a part in her view of church and mine. Any advice would be appreciated.
In Protestantism, their Gospel has for 500 years, taught that Baptism and the Eucharist are mere symbols that do not confer Grace. Marriage is not a Sacrament of Grace in many and the doctrine of Once Saved Always Saved has replaced the Sacramental Grace of Reconciliation.

IT IS ONLY because you don't take your belief seriously. But once you put the word of God on top of your priority list, you will pray for someone who has the same levels of faith with you because your goal is to marry someone who will pray, fast, soak, and worship with you. Key word is "unless" because it tells us that this is a result of our faith, not a means of our faith. It's the Spirit in us that leads to communion not communion that leads to the Spirit in us. If communion was a requirement for salvation, it would read: until you eat..., you do not have life within you or you must eat to have life. That's not what the Bible says, as it says in Ephesians, "we are saved by faith alone in Christ alone." Communion is what believers do, not what needs to be done to be saved. Jesus fulfilled the law, all we need to do is believe in him and have eternal life. So, you could say, communion is evidence of faith, not a means of faith or salvation.

In regards to the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther states the 95 issues that the Catholic Church had been affiliated with, because they were corrupt. Yeah, it's best to marry someone who believes similarly to you. Otherwise you will have some trouble understanding each other and passing on religion to your children. I think it's possible for a Catholic to marry a Protestant, but as a Catholic i would much prefer to marry another Catholic. I want someone I can go to Mass with and receive the Eucharist with. And also Protestants often don't understand my faith so well. And this video has some common misconceptions about the Catholic Church which I have heard from many Protestants. Fr. Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, King Henry, et al created and taught other gospels.
Fr. Luther added the word "alone" after faith to his German Bible in Romans 3:28. His canon reverted back to using the Jerusalem Old Testament used by the Pharisees and those 7 "disputed" books were eventually dropped from published bible.

In my personal opinion I find American Protestantism especially ignorant in the actual Catholic Theology. I do not blame them but I think its the product of being geographically separated from europe as well as many early settlers in America being protestant and having a general distaste for the church. That culture of anti catholic rhetoric and isolation from europe leads to an evangelical theology and why the two faiths are at such odds. Protestantism has many different interpretations, Catholicism has one unified theology with written documents and records spanning 2000 years. In fairness, as a Catholic, the Church (Catholic) tolerates marriages to non-Catholics and discourages it. That’s why the priest has to get a dispensation (permission) from the Bishop.

Nidhya Joseph you have to go to the priest who is preparing you for marriage. If he isn’t your pastor (your pastor is the pastor of the parish in which you reside (parishes have geographical boundaries. Consult the Diocese if you don’t know which parish your residence falls into. It isn’t necessarily the closest church to where you live), and not necessarily the same priest who is at the parish you attend. If the priest isn’t your pastor according to canon law, the priest doing your marriage prep has to get permission from your pastor first. Then the priest has to get permission from the bishop for you and your non-Catholic fiancé to marry. Your non-Catholic fiancé must promise not to interfere with you raising your children in the Catholic faith and you must promise to raise your children in the Catholic faith. If you fiancé isn’t baptized (in a recognized baptism, ie: the Church doesn’t recognize LDS baptisms) the priest has to apply for a disparity of cult. You cannot have a Catholic or Sacramental marriage in such a case. Your marriage will only be a natural marriage with none of the sacramental graces and helps you would get with a sacramental marriage. If your fiancé is a baptized Christian, the priest has to apply for a Dispensation from the Bishop. The bishop or his delegate can refuse to grant either. It’s a lot of standard paperwork that priests are all too familiar with doing.

I’m so confused. I’m Protestant, but I have a crush on a girl who’s a catholic. I want to date her, but I don’t want to go against my faith either… why does our religion have to separate us? I am a Christian married to a Christian woman, we come from different denominations of Christianity. I had a date with a Catholic girl when I was in high school, I didn’t know she was Catholic had a fun date, found out she was Catholic, remained friends with her but never asked her out again. Protestants really seem to have a gap in their aesthetic messages and their rituals as well. my wife is Catholic. I married her while i was agnostic. Grew up as a pastor's kid in the Baptist church but left the faith. I decided for Christ 5 months ago as a new born again believer. My marriage has been TERRIBLE since that decision. we are so unbalanced now. It largly stems from me though. I know just a huge load of Catholic Dogma now. I read a ton of Catechism to understand if she was a true believer in christ or if she believed what i knew as truth. SHe has head knowledge but zero walk with Christ directly. SHe has a firm belief in Mary but not Jesus. Mary is someone she LOVES a great deal but doesn't approach Jesus much it seams. She grew up in it so she feels shes covered under doctrin since baby baptism. Ive tried to reach her with scripture but it ends in terrible fights with her feeling greatly offended and upset. even when scripture pokes holes in her dogma she gets irate with me. Im not sure what to do honestly.

Here it is, pay attention.

Did you see it? Look at the construct in the way it’s written. It’s meant to parallel previous statements not towards the literal but towards the preconfigured figurative.
6:54 - Eats my flesh and drink my blood…
6:40 - Sees the son and believes in him….
Do you get it? Do you understand the comparison? It is not literal as if we are supposed to transform something we consume for life.

His teachings give us everlasting life because he who believes in the son will be raised up on the last day. John 3:16 for god so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.
This entire passage is a callback to Moses and the manner and it hints at the bronze serpent.
“The LORD said to Moses, "Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live." So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.”
Whoever looks upon the son and believes in him will live. In the same way of the bronze serpent the son of man was lifted up on a pole for all to believe.
And then our Lord and Savior clarifies at the end.

And then the disciples answer Jesus in all of this. The answer to his question of whether or not they will leave and notice how they never mention anything about flesh.

What's the distinction between asking someone to intercede and praying to someone? I can ask someone who is alive, a fellow brother or sister to pray for me but if I were to ask someone who has died, there is a substantial distinction right? You are literally communicating with a dead person.

Brett R Hey there! Hope you’re doing well! I think the reason why the Catholic Church hasn’t stated anything against it is because of the historical context. Back then, people couldn’t read the Bible because it was written in Latin and nobility or the upper class could only read it. Therefore, the Catholic Church had made stained glass, sculptures, and even early theater inside the church. This helped instruct the lower class or those who couldn’t read about who certain figures of the Bible work and the stories that were told in the Bible. For example, the statue of Saint Peter helps people to visually see who he was and what he represented. The statues are NOT being prayed to, however people have different reactions to certain things. Another example seen in another religion is the sacred wall in Israel. Millions of Christians and Jews go to that sacred spot to pray against the wall, because they find it to be the holiest spot in the world. I think that these different forms of art and architecture allowed people to visually see and be impacted by the context of these pieces of art. I hope this helps a little bit!

None of those are explicit in scripture, but because Jesus left a church that can "Bind and Loose on heaven and on earth", then if heaven cannot affirm a false teaching, then this church will bind and loose infallibly until his return.

I think Catholics would acknowledge that the bread and wine are still physically bread and wine. In a spiritual sense, though, it is the body and blood of Jesus. At least, that is my understanding. I think most people in the Catholic church don't know everything that their church believes. I've spoken to many that just are ignorant not to their own fault. But at the same time they don't know what the bible says at the same time. So maybe we just need to help those that we can.
As a former Catholic, many Catholics believe that Protestants have a misconception that Catholics "pray to Mary" rather they are solely asking Mary to pray for them (i.e. to convey their prayers to Jesus who is more likely to hear her prayers being that she is the Queen Mother)
It's important to realize that **idolatry is not what you believe, it is what you do***.
It's besides the point that the RCC condemns worship of Mary. It's the action that is at issue. Just like how money can also be an idol. To further elaborate, you do not need to believe that money is your God, or worship it, however, the way you prioritize it and act towards it is what makes it's idolatry.
All the Apostles likely knew Mary well. They all experienced pain and suffering yet they never prayed to her. If Mary was so vital to a Christian's life even one prayer to her would have been enough. The NT is filled with directions on how the Church must conduct itself, however, with little reference to the traditions practiced by the RCC. The RCC believes that rejecting Marian Dogmas will send you directly to hell. Again, if it was so important why did the Apostles never talk about it?? It's clear once you study Church history and when where these traditions were included you actually understand why the RCC is where it is.
The RCC must first repent and know what Jesus Christ's sacrifice truly means for justifying us. The rest will fall in place.
Nowhere in the bible does it claim that it should have everything in it to be believed in. Jesus left 12 apostles, not a book. So I suggest you look into the teachings of the apostles and their successors (the church fathers). And btw, if there is a way of distinguishing the act of worship and veneration, I suggest you tell us what it is. The Protestants kneel before the Bible and kiss the Bible. According to what you said, they are idolaters. They worship a book by kneeling to it and kissing it while saying, God forgive me.
You have to understand, that the way of expression of worship and veneration can be similar, but the intention of the believer is what distinguishes it.

We are not superstitious.
My father is baptized Protestant but not church goer. My mother is a practising Roman Catholic. When they got married in the Roman Catholic church, my dad had to promise the church that all children would be raised Catholic. We had a fantastic schooling and moral upbringing there, but the problem arose when I was in confirmation class and I told the priest I had read the New Testament and nowhere did it say Mary ascended into heaven. He said "That's why its called the Feast of the Assumption, because its assumed she was too holy to die and she ascended into heaven like Jesus did."
I said that I couldn't believe in something that's assumed and its not in the Bible. So he refused to let me be confirmed and I was in huge trouble. I ended up on a long spiritual journey from there, getting almost baptized into a nasty cult, then finding myself in my Dad's church. Its across the road from my mums one and I waved at them going in a few times. Dad is tempted at times to come with me. I would have to go to confession if i wanted to have communion at mum's church, but mum can have it at ours. All the rules!
I am beginning my journey in understanding if I truly belong in the Roman Catholic Church or not. There are some things that just don't seem to add up and I find God convicting me of many things that I once held onto from the Catholic Church. Peace be with you.

You had 7 minutes to speak to Roman Catholics (I'm sure at least 100 or so of the 2,700 viewers to this point were Catholic). Why didn't you spend it on sharing the gospel with them?
This was an opportunity to take a stand for the gospel (and to direct Christians that the gospel is our primary measuring stick for being equally yoked). You spent 20 seconds making a brief mention of "salvation by grace through faith alone", said "the Catholic church is still a little bit edgy about that particular verbiage", and then changed the subject quickly to other areas of difference.

Yes, Catholic Church has the authority. Bible was born of it and not the Church was born of it. In fact there are of other scriptures and who decided that a particular gospel or scripture should be included in the bible.

The early church fathers, from the Apostles that Jesus hand picked, to the same disciples who canonized the Bible, all believed in the same dogmas as the Roman Catholic Church. Martin Luther even believed that Mary was a perpetual virgin and immaculately conceived, and had a devotion to her. These dogmas are true, and believed by that majority of Christians in the world, it is Protestants who hold the minority view. Read the early church fathers, if you dare, and you will find they were Catholic.
Well, maybe early church "fathers" believed that Mary was assumed into Heaven or was a perpetual virgin, or even immaculately conceived; this however is found nowhere in the Gospels or the Epistles. None of it, because there is not evidence for it. Just because the early Christians thought this does not make it true. Reading some of Paul's letters and the 7 Letters to the 7 Churches in Revelations just shows that even when the Apostles were ALIVE, false teaching and dogma was finding its way into the Body of Christ. What more would find its way in after the Apostles passed away, and weren't able to refute it?

All of humanity under the New Covenant in Christ's Blood must be regenerated through Baptism of water, the Trinitarian formula and reception of the Holy Spirit.
We are not at enmity with Satan prior to Baptism and unfortunately must personally strive to overcome concupiscence thereafter.
However, God tells Satan in Genesis:
"15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His Heel.”
It requires Divine action for a person to be born at enmity with Satan. The Trinity predestined and saved His mother, blessed her with the full component of Grace (abundance of virtues) at her conception to combat the demonic in every generation.

it s a very good answer! many catholics say: i dont believe this or that that the catholic church teaches...but then they are not catholic and they need to deal with non biblical doctrines they have been taught! but the most serious thing this pastor did not mention is the false gospel they teach!
Catholicism doesn't teach a false Gospel.

Well that happens quite often. IE: My son married a Catholic many years ago; and the marriage is awesome. However, my son told her before they got married; that he did NOT believe as RCC does. Plus, "I will never become a Catholic; because it is a heretical religion".
Her respond was, "I have never been a "devout" Catholic. So, I just go to it because my parents raised me that way; and they insist that my children be brought up as Catholics".
Now, to really answer the question; I would NEVER suggest that ANY protestant marry a Catholic. Reason: The so-called "Roman Catholic Church" is nothing more; than an extension of the old Roman Empire. Oh indeed. And that empire did NOT really "fall"; as history said it did, in 476 AD.
They simply realized they were NOT going to exist; IF they stayed as it was. Therefore, they decided to infiltrate the fast growing "Christian" movement back then. Further: they took over the Christians (except for the Born Again Christians-that went underground). And the goal was to destroy Christianity completely.
(Similar to what America, AND the world, is doing right now...Sad indeed!)
Thus, the Romans made a myriad of laws and protocols; that would cause that to come to fruition. So they tortured and murdered (in the most heinous of ways) true Born Again Christians; from 538 AD until 1798 AD (1,260 yrs. AKA: "Time, times and half time"). And on that last day; they realized that there was NO way to destroy true Christianity. Amen and Praise Jesus. But that is still their goal; to this day and to their death. Believe it or not.
Finally: EVERY iota of the Roman Catholic "Cult" (as I coined it); is "Archaic Roman", rooted into every thing they do or say. This is why their churches look very much like the old "Caesar's palaces" (168 BC to 476 AD). Oh indeed. Right down to their clothing, etc. Thus, they are one of the richest, satan-led, Godless, wretched religions; to have ever inhabited this planet.
