Rachmaninoff/Volodos - Andante from Cello Sonata Op. 19

  • A very elaborate solo piano arrangement of the beautiful 3rd movement from Rachmaninoff's Cello Sonata. The heavy texture gives the piece a different flavor from its original form. There are some brain teaser-like moments in this arrangement when you need to juggle the piano melody, the cello melody, and the accompaniment across both hands. Glad I was finally able to record this after 3 months of very slow progress.

Your interpretation and dynamics blow me away every time anew. Especially here, where there was a lot going on sometimes, you still managed to bring out the main voice so clearly while still nicely juggling everything around it. Your playing always makes me dream and imagine a day where I myself could reach such a level, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I thought that taking out the cello would leave something missing, but the magic of this sonata was still there. Beautiful and flawless playing! One of my favorite things about Rachmaninoff is the multiple melodies he has going at the same time. You bring them all out so wonderfully. Thanks for sharing this!

After hearing your interpretation of Zdes Khoroso, I couldn't wait to see you play this amazing arrangement by Volodos, I think you play his work very gracefully. Once again I was not disappointed, great playing!

There's just something so instantly recognisable, so essentially Rach, in Rachmaninoff's music. Your playing is superb. Thankyou.

I was just listening to the original piece thinking “man, this would probably sound amazing as a Volodos solo arrangement”,
not realizing that it exists, and it’s also performed by one of my favorite UA-cam pianists

Every time I find a new interpretation of this sonata or movement, I listen to the part from 5:19 first. If I get the, as I call it, 'Rachmaninoff-feeling', I know this is a good interpretation.
I love this part so much, it breaks my heart every time...

What an absolutely marvelous arrangement, but even better is the performer. Absolutely Astounding in skill and expressive emotion of a seasoned pianist. You are a marvel with such talent! Thank you for bringing your talent to the world! (Rachmaninov is NOT an amature performer's entry in their performance repertoire and you have broken a mold that few can do as you have demonstrated.) BRAVO!! I await your continued output of performances!

My heart is meltiing at the sheer beauty of the sound I am witnessing......Who says digital pianos can't be as expressive as an acoustic piano. All depends on the skills and emotional input of the pianist.
