    Hi Friends!! Wellll it's winter here, and school holidays start today!! Fun plans are non existent when you are in endless lockdown. We would love to go to the Penguin Parade which is in Victoria at a place called Phillip Island about 100km from our home, alas it's more than 25km so we are not allowed due to restrictions. Can l come camping with you just for the food? You are so creative!! Bet the hungry boys loved all the meals you have perfected over the years. The most fascinating thing is how bright it was so late in the evening, be hopeless getting kids to bed when it's so bright and mild. Looked like a lot of fun had by all. Thanks for sharing. How did the new van travel? 👍

    Hi, your peach (SOUP lol) cobbler looks delicious. When I was a kid me & my cousin’s we’d go camping every summer the highlight of my summers & the memories we made together. This summer I’m staying at home California just opened up so I’ll plan something for next year

    • @ThisAlaskaLife

      Planning and looking forward to the trip is half the fun, at least in my opinion. We are hoping for some travel in the next year too as things open up. The peach 🍑 soup was so tasty, but how can you go wrong with peaches, cake mix and butter 😂. Have a wonderful weekend Kim!

    We were in Seward and other parts of Alaska in 1995 (driving around on our honeymoon) then again in 2014 (cruise). We were hoping to go to Canada this summer but they aren’t open yet and will only open in phases because of Covid. So not sure where we will go now. Looks like you guys had lots of fun camping! Thanks for taking us along.

    Miss camping with my kids. We only camped as a family up in the Blue's once (encludeing my daughter & I. Husband & the boys went more often.).
    I would take my kids camping at home, in the back of my husband's pick up. Take the sofa & love seat cushions and lay them down in the bed of the truck, 2 kids at a time. It worked, they loved it!!!
    I loved your Hobo meals, and peach soup! I love that you got to spend time with your Father!!! 🌼

    We had a beach day today in Oceanside Ca, and we are taking the kids to Knotts Berry Farm for 4th of July. Then we are off on a 6 day camping trip in our RV to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, for fishing, and hiking. Your trip, and that drive looked amazing. What special memories with your Dad and the boys. So beautiful! Please share your hobo dinner, and monkey bread recipes. I would love to try them on our upcoming camping trip.

    • @ThisAlaskaLife
      @ThisAlaskaLife  3 роки тому +1

      You sound as busy as I feel with all those trips. Sounds wonderful!!!
      Hobo dinners: potato, carrots, burger pattie ( we used Costco but you can use any ground beef), seasoning salt, and 1/2 a can of mushroom soup. 5 layers of tin foil, rotate every 10 minutes for an hour.
      The monkey bread was an experiment but it tasted yummy. I took 4 cans of small biscuits, cut them up, melted a stick of butter and added some cinnamon and sugar ( about 1/4 cup sugar, 1 Tbs cinnamon). Baked about 30 minutes at 350°. Hope that helps! I also love using biscuit dough for donuts ( I showed that in our last Seldovia video).
      Have a wonderful summer Janai, thanks for being here! ❤️

    We always camp. Camping is in our blood. We love it. Our 4 kids love it. This summer (at the beginning of June) we took a family vacation down to Pensacola beach in Florida. Mind you...we live by Springfield Missouri (just north of it in the country) so it was a 14 hour drive with us and our 4 kiddos. That was an experience for sure. my in-laws came and my husband's grandparents and Aunt and her daughter also got to come it was so much fun Lol we stayed a week in Florida, the beach was beautiful. Praying one year we.can come vacation in Alaska...but I know, if we come visit Alaska..we will not want to come back home. 😂🤷

      Hi Becky! I love all of this. When I was younger we lived in Texas and several times we drove to Pensacola. So many good memories of the beach there. I miss road trips in the lower 48, fun to drive and experience different states. I still love road trips because of it!
      Alaska is a special place. A lot of people experience it and never want to leave. That is how my in-laws ended up here a long time ago. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, it means a lot!
