What is homeless when you know you always have capabilities? I used to work at the same places, and I always camped out all summer to save money in Alaska. I will have a class D train in my house now and I shall have a HOBO SHOESTRING tag on my hoppers and elsewhere for you. Always in our hearts you shall be. Thank you.
Thats one snazzy looking town. Glad you got there Shoestring. You've helped me see Alaska in a way no one else could. Thanks for sharing your adventures Cheers, and make sure you get some quality ZZZzzz
Back then it was as you say: “Hey Mark. You need some work come here bud.” Nowadays it’s more like: “Hey Shoestring, you need a ride, come here bud.” I’m glad that you have far more positive experiences living the way you do then bad, people in this country should be trying to help out more and you are definitely too humble of a person not to be helped out, if I ever met you in real life, I would try and help you in any way I can too. Keep being that pure good of heart person you always have been, always are and always will be. Your knowledge of these recent videos and story time is truly awe inspiring and I could continue listening to it for as long as you keep posting them, I will never get tired of what comes on your mind, because having the thought process you have, you make videos so much more interesting and enjoyable to watch because you go from one thing to another and another. So for us viewers, it’s actually a big compliment that you think the way you do in your videos, because at least for me, it’s what keeps me coming back to watch them and hear what else you got on your mind. Safe travels as always Shoestring, continue to be safe and healthy you and your family. And this goes for the rest of you that read my comment, may all your friends and family continue to pursue safety and health always.
Still loving all this Alaskan content. Get so excited any time I see a new video. Makes me want to plan a trip there in a few years. Stay safe and happy!
Im travelling in a 2005 t1n converted sprinter around this country with a"" shoestring rip "" sticker on the back, i dont know why but you touched my irish soul.. rip shoestring.
Shoestring beautiful little town i can see why you would want to live there, peaceful and serene and the gorgeous water. Man I would like that myself, yes you should have stayed there and camp out during tourist season. Hopefully you will have the chance one day. Stay well be safe ✌
Interesting glacial color in the bay... didn't know that reason... thanks Shoestring, I do learn from your videos... always seeking valuable experienced knowledge... since I've seen so many of your videos. Watching helps me catch up on life, and others experience, your rich video knowledge brings it to me.... a challenge when quarantine has the cuffs on.
12.47 I'm looking at the view either side of that conifer tree because my jaw is on the floor words can't explain a view like that....the town is beautiful .... WingNut 🤗😊👍..
Hi shoestring cant believe how beautiful there I love the boats they are beautiful and the mountains to shoe string have fun and have a good dinner and relax bro Jack Durbin 👽👍👍
If you dont decide to get a cheap room, go to that ace hardware and get you a bigger tarp, a spool of line and hang that tarp from 4 trees over your tent. hang it with one side a couple of foot lower than the other side, pull the string tight and you have a nice tent cover and a porch too.
I see why you like seward so much its a nice little town and looks like alot of businesses and things to do...idk shoestring sounds like your heart is still there may b you should check into the apartments...perfect ending to a perfect story!! That may b your calling shoestring..we got got your back on whatever you decide to do but to me seems like your back where you belong...thanks for all you do for us...
Bayside has open units. just looking. Might be a good time. I have friends who go up there almost every year. Might go next year. You make it sound so nice (except when it's packed, like next year most likely)
Glad to see your alright! Now I find myself checking for new videos every day, I was getting worried. 😂 what a great State! I miss living there. My friend is in the Hospital in Soldotna right now and I wish I was there to go see her. She’ll be alright. I caught a 120 something pound Halibut out off in the bay. I was amazed when the Captain came out from down below with a .410 rifle and shot it before they pulled it in. I said , “What’d ya do that for??” He told us about how they’ll break your legs if you pull them on alive. Crazy fun! Good eating too! Stay Safe Hobo! Good memories returning watching your videos.
That is a beautiful looking town Shoestring. Alaska has always been the number one place on my bucket list. You need to check out those apartments man.
I don't know if your happier to have us to talk to or were happier to see and listen to you! Either way I hope you like us as much as we enjoy you're company everyday! Be safe Hobo!!!
More beautiful scenery. Seems nice and quiet, at least right now. When you talked about how many tourists show up there I thought maybe it's not the best place to be. Catching a train outta town seems like an impossibility too.
I wish you were here. I was working at Icicle seafoods at the same time you were cleaning boats. We could have walked up mount marathon to a place to look at the city of seward.
Spent a couple weeks in AK last August. Spent some time in Seward. It’s a special place. Enjoy your vids. Makes me feel like I need some adventure. 👍🏻🇺🇸
The Exit Glacier and the Harding Icefield are about 12 miles up the road from Seward. The campground is currently closed but the trails are open. I went there during my trip to Alaska and it was one of the highlights of my trip.
I think that beautiful turquoise tint to the water is caused by glacial till. It's beautiful. We fished Seward Bay for silver salmon and huge halibut that are delicious. I think the limit was 1 halibut per week and 6 silver or coho salmon per day. Seward Bay itself is REALLY choppy. And I remember there were a lot of seals on the docks.
Mark, The water is that color from volcanic ash. I saw it on a show recently. It's trapped in the melting glacier and under the glacier as it melts. It's beautiful! Stay safe. Sara.
I've just caught up with all your past videos of the last 2 weeks. sorry been well busy! great videos of Alaska each and everyone is brilliant, you would definitely recommend Alaska as a holiday place then? It looks so peaceful and some beautiful places to visit, keep safe my friend
Love the quiet, but I can imagine the tourist hordes. I guess the locals will be loving it in one way, but missing the income in the other! Really enjoyed seeing these places. I have visited Alaska once, but not Seward.
Rocking the beach boys lol. Lots of nice boats, scenery second to none. I use to be a bus driver and cook. Then settled into teaching. I wonder what those Apts go for now. No stand alone houses in Seward?
Hey Shoestring, you sure do get around dude! Glad you made it there safely with a student driver.... It sure does look beautiful there and its to bad that the tourism is so slow there. I guess the virus is hurting everyone these days. Have you gotten your new glasses yet? Well be careful and safe out there......
Damn near broke my leg slipping on a big flat rock at the first waterfall on the right heading towards Lowell Point about 6 years ago! Was there for a fire conference and stayed at the motel behind the true value.
When he said the weather man was whispering. XD yeah I got a good laugh out of that too. I can just imagine a scenario in my head. Weather man: *whisper* Oh... okay, uh. Looks like today your going to have some overcast at a temperature of 68 degrees, and uh a cold front will be coming through the major Alaskan State. But on the bright side the rest of the week is looking quite pleasant a solid temperature of 72 degrees mostly sunny.” Or something like that I don’t know. lol.
Here and Sitka are my the best places in Alaska, Did you go up to the falls and get a drink of water? I went up there when I worked at that Icicle plant.

I stayed at the hotel at 11:30 in June of 2021. Super nice place and I LOVED seward. Planning on going back next year.
