The smoker rocks! Great job. If I may, I would suggest putting some type grate in your fire box to keep it from rusting and to allow your fire to breath better. You will notice the difference. Keep ‘em burning!
Erocks garage. That is a bad ass smoker brother. I build them too in South Texas. Couldn’t help but noticing the 81-82 squarebody toward the end of the video 👍🏽. Ribs also looked on point!!!!
That was AWESOME!!!!! It was nice seeing the grill working out. You couldn’t pick a better piece of meat... I look forward seeing your Jeep rolling out of the garage. What you plan to cook next on your grill. One last thing. You finish plate look fantastic!!!!
Add a 1 gallon water tank next to the fire and run a pipe through the fire with a nozzle at the end... And a valve between the tank and the pipe... When you open the valve the water is going through the hot pipe and going out steam through the nozzle 😉...
I would have the outside of that thing sandblasted and put a good coat of paint on it! I’m so jealous there is a nice rig!!! Have you thought about putting some gasket material around the doors? It may be a damper on top of the stack? I really like the damper on the door of the fire box that is bad ass!!!
Lol, I love how most of the charcoal missed the chimney when you tried to pour it. Classic grilling problems. You need some flat gasket on the door. That'll fix it. A tiny gap 6 ft long is the equivalent of a big ole' hole. I just finished doing a wood stove for a guy and the doors were pretty tight metal on metal. The fire could not be snuffed or turned down far enough with the air control. I added some thin flat gasket and BOOM, it worked great.
I was waiting for this dude to stir his kool aid with his arm like the cousin from National Lampoons Vacation. No frills or slick production on this vid.
My first pit was like yours just a little smaller pipe. Where did you get the spring handles for the door and and air intake? Did you just cut those off of a pair of chipping hammers or did you buy them? Try leaving about an inch or so of ash in the bottom when you cook it’ll keep your temperature better regulated at least in my experience it did.
Joe H cool suggestion, I will try that on the ash. I got the handles on Amazon I’m pretty sure. If I was more ambitious, I would put a link in the description box.
What was the ballpark cost in building your smoker? I'd like to do one similar but was debating on using a 250 gallon propane tank for the main cooking area and then add the smoker box. Just looking to see what route to take. Nice work and appreciate the time to share with others.
Jason I didn’t keep a close watch on the overall but other people have asked the same question. It was roughly 600ish maybe a little bit more, but that is with a fancy thermometer, expensive brass ball valve, and coming up with all the oak and stuff which was pricy. If I remember right the pipe itself was 34ish dollars per foot, I got 5 feet. Is used probably about 3/4 of a sheet of 1/4” plate, those were the most expensive parts, but I had several other things too, expanded metal, square tubing, random flat stocks, and small angles. It all adds up.
I think you're right about air leakage around door. Try wielding a bead around all the strapping. Also: Whad'ya use for the cylinders? I know it's 1/4", but from what? btw, I'm subscriber #900 Thanks for posting!
Andy Long yea that drove me crazy too! I got it dialed in to where it only went off when I opened the door or the fire was dying out. Which is what I think it was meant for in the first place.
Sorry about your gauge placement, man. Like they say, hindsight is 20/20. I’m not a fan of such a low gauge placement for not only that reason, but because, except for the first few inches by the firebox, I quite often fill both the bottom and the upper half rack with meat. The gauge on my Texas Pit Crafters PM100 is high enough to be above even a turkey breast, but in the end opposite of the firebox. So while it’s quite high, because of my low stack location, the gauge actually reads the lowest temp in the pit. I rarely use any electronic therms anymore. I know I gotta put a stick on every half hour or so, but I turned my gauge so that 225 is at the 12 o’clock position since that reflects more like a 250* average pit temp at the grate. Congrats on your smoker, though. Looks like you used the best design out there. Interested in what you came up with concerning hot spots. Anyhow, I wouldn’t even paint it if it was me. I’d season it with linseed oil and leave it natural. Hard to keep paint on the top of a firebox, anyhow.
A master welder that built my cabinet smoker asked when I was first receiving it “do you know what kills a smoker quicker than anything else?” I answered no and he proceeded to tell me , moisture, moisture brought on by ashes left in the grill. Always clean and wash out ASAP for long life of your grill.
I’ve been wondering why there is no water pan used in any of these type of smokers I just stepped up to a pellet grill from a weber smoky Joe which had the water pan.
@@mrslam49 depends... have to know a lil about it like does it have cancer anywhere, does it run has it modified do you have title, things like that. Im in CA. .
I drug the car out of a field a few years ago, had to replace a lot of the floor and rebuild the entire driver side rocker panel. I did a lot of work to the car, put a dodge 318 v8 and a 727 auto trans in it, Ford 8 inch rearend. The car isn’t perfect by any means, it still need some work on the passenger side rocker and a couple other little spots but it does run and drive. I actually drove it on a family road trip from Oklahoma to Colorado a couple years ago. Always fires up. I’d drive it anywhere. Has bias ply tires and original front suspension so the driving experience is a little white knuckle but it’s pretty great on the open highway. Seat has been redone but the rest of the interior needs redone. Stock gauges work except the temp, needs new gauge. Modified the 3 on the tree shifter to work with the auto tranny, it’s pretty cool. Original big ass steering wheel still in place. It’s pretty much all old school and original but with a v8.
@@mrslam49 ohhh damnn seems like a cool car, i was looking for something more original and not to much work.. ok well thank you for your time. If you find any chevys out there give me a halla... have a good one ..👍
UncleJess 87 is a k10, I was gonna build it and put a Ls and a 4l80e in it, but I gave up on it and sold it right after I made this video. It sat in the yard for years and I collected a lot of parts to do the swap but she’s a goner lol. Going to get back to work on on the 53 Chevy soon, gonna put a vw tdi diesel in the 53 soon. Prolly make some videos on it.
Erocks Garage I’ve had a few squares over the years and regret every one I’ve sold but I dig the bbq videos and looking forward to some videos on the 53. Thanks for the good info. I’ve built a couple pig cooker trailers and finally got around to a family size offset build. Looking forward to more content. Loving the channel.
UncleJess 87 thanks brother, I was going to build that square as a tow pig for my Jeep, that was the plan for a long time, but I ended up getting a dodge diesel for that purpose, just lost interest on it. I would like to find me a short wide c10 do dump all the parts in that I collected. Maybe someday.
That baby blue vehicle, the rock crawling jeep, the thick steel smoker, birds chirping.....man!! Nice!! I love the fire box door and vent opening!!
Just a straight forward dude doing straight forward stuff, I like it.
I’d like to see more cooking videos on that smoker!! 👍
I subscribed early today after watching your build vid. The follow up video was just as good!! Thanks again for taking the time for sharing. 🇨🇦🍻🥓

Wow nice smoker! What did it take you for in materials? Would you consider duplicating $$$
So did you figure out what the problem was? And how did you rig that table to remain up without a support brace? Is it in the hinge itself?
Nice, really nice.

hello, what type of metal do u use for make the smoker?
Im wondering, if you were to build another smoker like that, how much would you sell it for?

I believe I was using walnut in this video just because I had some.

Id buy one ...my wallyworld highland needs alot of fuel to burn at 250 plus and will not last half as long as that mochine
Most smokers cook hotter towards the back than by the door. I’ve also noticed mine cooks hotter on the upper rack.
5:18 don't move the thermometer.. Splitt the handle in 2...The thermometer should be at the same level with the meat... 👍😎

Holor aumoo?
that thing looks great, how many lbs do you figure it weighs? Something like that would cost in the thousands
If I had to guess prolly 600 pounds. It’s pretty heavy. It’s sort of like moving an engine around on a engine stand. If you can imagine that.
i want one of these :( you need to mass-produce them
Do you build and ship
Add a water pan. It'll help regulate the internal temperature.

What's the dimensions on that puppy
Can you give us a cost on the material used to build the grill.
Michael Harris I didn’t keep track. Probably about 6-700
What’s the diameter on your smokestack
4.5” if I remember correctly.
Quanto custa um fire box?

How much do u want for the 51 ???
