  • (edit: I want to mention that I now disagrees with instructing people to step in a straight line, even to start with. Your lead/plant leg should be left in order to get a better hip turn)
The beginning of the journey addressing:
    1. disc golf form/biomechanics
    2. drills
    3. conditioning/injury prevention
Disclaimer: Make sure you are cleared by your doctor for exercise and make sure that all exercises are pain free (both during and after), otherwise stop.

Just found your channel, just wanted to say I love your content! I’m an MD (obgyn) but I play disc golf and have also had issues with my shoulders and your stuff is really great! Good medical advice but also easy to understand.

I'm a retired teacher just beginning the DG learning process. I love that you are sharing what you know as a PT so that newcomers like me can learn correctly the first time and minimize any potential injuries. Thank you!

I’ve been playing for about a month now but I believe I messed up my rotator cuff muscles from over use and my bad form, thank you for the tips

Thanks for the videos! I am currently a PTA student and avid disc golfer who is doing a presentation on disc golf body mechanics, so this is perfect!

Just what we needed, thanks for sharing your knowledge... It seems to me that on form, that leading your head fully turn backwards to the target is less stressful on the shoulder and back.

I knew my shoulders were in bad shape. My rotator cuffs are so weak but my throwing arm is the worst. Going to try to do some of your reccomended excersises. Feels good so far...like there's actually blood in my shoulder from just a few mins. Thank you for putting your knowledge out there.

not a problem. I am always surprised how often i find people's throwing arm is weaker than the other, but it happens more often than you'd expect.

Nice video! How often would you recommend doing the rotator cuff exercises?

I would suggest every 2-3 days, just like you would work any muscle group

I have tendonitis in my right hand I believe from my pointer finger getting stuck under the rim during my release , my grip is a 3-4 fingers grip with all tips of my fingers under the rim, any different grips you could suggest that would help avoid further injury ?

that is a tough one for me. Most therapist deal with everything except the hand. There are therapists that deal with that alone since the hand and wrist are so complex it helps to focus on on area. I too have had issues with my fingers and plan to make a video shortly addressing this. Typical power grip does not utilize the index finger significantly. I would consider keeping that finger extended and just using your middle, ring, and pinkie fingers.

You should step with your front foot to the left of the target and your back foot.

I addressed this in either the 2nd or 3rd video. I made the point that most of the pros do just that in order to turn their hips more and gain power. If you are beginning or going for pure accuracy that keeping the toes in line with the target may be ideal. Otherwise you are correct.

Ok haven't watched those yet, I'll get to it!

Thanks for pointing out that it may be confusion unless clarified further. I think I'll put something out that says so explicitly. If it was confusing for one person, I'm sure there are more who haven't said so.

Just posted ua-cam.com/video/bk8NYoK7nT4/v-deo.html to discuss that point
