I liked the interpretation of the Romantic painting except his oneness with Nature. I always thought or sensed that there is turbulence and moody uncertainty coming through the man in his relationship to the fog and the landscape. Not a sense of oneness or peace. Slightly disturbed I think. Like he wants to be one with it but can’t hack it. Which is what I think of most Romantics, they say they love Nature but I get no sense they even understand Nature. If they did, they would see that Nature is the ultimate oppressor and eventually kills us all. On the other hand, I could be wrong.
