2099: hiding windows 10 in a one byte file
IMPOSSIBLE
how can you fit windows in "10110101"?
@@JustJory while you can't do it, you can trick the operating system into believing a 4.2GB iso file is a 1B unknown file.
@@DominioSantos how?
It is very much possible! If the meta of the reference to a file is corrupted you will not only see it as a byte size file, it will actually be one byte while the rest of the data is still intact (though probably not for long).
"Look closely, there's a space after the name"
It's basically: "If you look closely you can see nothing"
Technically the space makes the text not align properly, which you can see.
You can see a bit of folder in front of the line but on the other one you can't
Could you place a space at the start and end to have the text central still?
@@thousandsofclowns Like 5-10 pixels :/
@@another1commenter770 I'm pretty sure that this would just move the text off-center in the other direction.
"If you look closely you will see the invisible character"
I don't think that's how it works but ok
Use your invisibility detection goggles 😎
A space is invisible, but not zero-width. Just like a black hole absorbs all light but you can see it because of the lack of stars in the background. The text isnt centered
@@htrehtrgfrebe63 I know but it's still invisible so I still can't see it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@htrehtrgfrebe63 Also a space can't be zero wide, because then you wouldn't have space between the words, soitwouldbelikethis 😂
@@mitkobomba unicode has a character called zero-width space
"Look closely, there is a space after the name"
How am I supposed to see that?
Look at the green line, it's aligned differently.
0:57
found the casul
@TechnoTrench but you can see the fact that the text is moved back a little in the one with the space you could see a tiny bit of the front of the folder but on the one without the space you douldn't see it in front of the line
sir theres a box that shows nothing that is uselssssssssssssssssss\\\

Task for today: Create 2 folders: "Homework", and "Homework " ;)
do you need to put a space on the second one?
or you could just.. use mega and store it that way
@@Rei0SU why use mega if you can use encrypted archives?

Oki i do the task :)

Loving these videos! I've always loved messing with Windows, it's good to know there's always something new to find!
I remember using similar tricks to try and make it harder for the school IT staff to delete Halo PC from the school's network shares... It was a fun arms race. Thanks for the nostalgia hit!

FlyTech and Enderman are basically just showing us weird bugs to hide our "Homework" folder better.
Funny to see this. I recently had an issue with uninstalling a game through Steam failing to remove the entire folder; it turned out one folder in one piece of DLC had its version number written with a trailing space. (Because of the nature of the game, it needs to keep every version of the DLC installed.) Had to go in and rmdir the folder from the command line with a UNC path.
Flytech, idea to next video:
Use FSUTIl to create case-sensitive folders. With that you can confuse programs, as some of them doesn't support two files with same name.
Ok, that sounds interesting 👀
Interesting, i want to see this.
You can do it like this:
fsutil.exe file setCaseSensitiveInfo C:\folder enable
I did it because I wanted to build android using WSL, only thing I confused was VS.BTW You might also need some regedit command to even enable to modify this feature. You can find it on WSL github soemthing around android building issue
ok:)
I find it hilarious that the Windows filesystem was too confusing for Windows so they had to use Linux and Linux was totally okay with it
That's most likely because the gui-based tools and certain command line tools use different methods to access low level functions.
The gui-based methods are more filtered/restricted in what they can do and how they do it.
For example, Using the windows file explorer a directory can only be nested so often and the total path length can only be so long. So if you try to work with a folder that is somehow nested within a thousand folders deep structure, the gui-based tool will throw errors and just not work.
But if you use for example the robocopy tool, it can handle such folders with no problems, because the actual file system underneath can handle much deeper nested folders and much longer path lengths.
WSL and tools like robocopy probably use the same or similar unfiltered apis, amd are thereforeless restricted.
👆 that's what I believe too. Good explanation!
At first I was thinking: Still not supporting APNG, huh?
Then I saw the video. Lol.

Hey FlyTech! In a few videos, you really teach us things that we will never think of! Go on like this! You teach us how to fly! +1 subs
There was a simmilar bug where windows gets confused about thumbnails, if you had file (maybe shortcut I don't remember) on desktop with thumbnail A, deleted it, then moved a file with same name but thumbnail B to desktop, it will magically change thumbnail to A because cache still holds the old one
Windows 10 update log : blocked access to create folder with space behind it on every possible way

When Linux subsystem in Windows is better than Windows itself...
Linux is good tho
Bruh

it is inverted
Man... after just dealing with Windows tech support this was really therapeutic, thanks
3:05 - If your shell bypasses MAX_PATH, then it can go to that folder.
WSL is bypassing Windows algorithms, so it can go to that folder.
If you hack PowerShell to mount that folder as drive via \\?\ and commands, it could work.
CMD does not support UNC paths as current directories, but you can with little registry tweaks use dir, type...
Also, don't forget about mountvol trick!
P.S. some app are shortering dot and space in the end of path, some are not.
P.P.S. A great theme for new video: using non-letters as Windows drive letters! (Pro tip: use subst and mountvol)

The wrong thumbnails thing can be replicated with an APNG. You can use tricks like this in applications like Discord. If you press "Open image in browser", the image changes.
Looks like a perfect candidate for a windows escape room
Bro, At last moment finally confusing the Windows Explorer. I must be need only CMD. Your video is correct.
One way to cd into the "Docs " folder in cmd is to use the "dir /X" command to see the DOS-compatible name of the directory and use that instead. These names need to be enabled, of course.
OH MY ROUND THIS IS THE TECHEST WINDOWS `10 VIDSHIO!

Thank you. Now my nightmares come real.
Folders ending with dots (.) have some similar weird behaviors. At least that is how it was a few years ago, don't know how it is now with windows 10.
i need some help, i need to delete something but its missing like the trick you showed, how do i force delete it ?
just like you created
And that's why I have WSL installed, to resolve any strange bug happening in Windows and how confusing powershell syntax can get (heard it was built for sysadmin in mind but I can't go back after learning Linux Shell)
Just a few days ago, a file refused to be deleted even with elevated cmd and even WSL. had to boot to Ubuntu and abuse my root power to delete it, which works. Although, for some reason, after booting back to Windows, the file reappeared but deletable at the very least
You might have run into an NTFS limitation, obviously not even WSL can override file system issues
@@FlyTechVideos probably. that one particular file has some kind of owner level that elevated cmd cant even delete it. probably its permission and owner info was corrupted or probably something similar happened in your video happened here, since after I deleted the problematic file in Ubuntu and confirmed it no longer exist, the file reappeared in Windows but deleteable.
anyways, that's Windows 10 for all of us. I'm no longer surprised XD and the decision to start dual boot with Ubuntu as primary OS right after I am dissatisfied that build 10240 becomes RTM is definitely worth it.

FlyTech Videos,
If I create a rar and a folder with the same file name, will I be able to modify the rar file from explorer?
No
Hey, Flytech, what Linux distro are you using for WSL?
Ubuntu, but i am using WSL very rarely
Can you put download link please? My computer is outside and cannot download from MS Store. If not tell me how to get color like in Ubuntu on Debian
Yeah how did i not see that space...
Reminds me of Windows 3.1 when an unzip program created a file with a space in its name, then nothing could touch it.
so you made bluescreen simulator?
So many possibilities for malware.
I just tried creating a directory "\\?\D:\ " and I was suprised to see that that worked. Double-clicking it in Explorer gave me another view of the D: drive (because the path is "D:\ ". Then double-clicking it again gets me into the empty folder (because there is an extra path delimiter now, at "D:\ \"). What's happening is completely logical, but man is that weird.
This is the perfect way to rick roll someone.
Thanks, now I know where to hide my homework folder.

Have some similar issue on w10 with dxsetup unable to install on my admin account because the accountname contains # (dxsetup removes the # and the letter after it when sending files to a temp directory resulting in the setup unable to find it’s own setup). Big pro: lots of virusses ,spyware and rootkits have this same issue so they do not activate at all). Con: some installers fail because the directory does not exist
How do you let wsl access your windows folders
Flytech: If you move the "docs" folder it will only affect the "docs" folder not the "docs" folder
There is noticeable cut in video. You may not be able to notice it

Finally... A way to troll with some users
Liked and shared. Now can you use MKLINK to the folder and call it LPT1 or CON and see what happens? Lol
I think it would say Element not fojnd.
Because I SUBSTed to unusable folder once.
I found this out accidentally once by messing around with UNC paths and WSL. I didn't go into so much detail though but I thought I corrupted the file system XD.
Even better: Make several files, each with its own combination of ZWNJs in it. (ZWNJ stands for Zero-Width Non-Joiner, and its Unicode value is 200C.) Does that confuse Windows too?
but... how to delete the "Docs " folder?
a picture with 0 bytes is impossible
Whattt ?? Wow!!!
just tried that and now i have a folder that i can't delete. you know, i'm something of a genius myself.
You should make a video about files being bigger(in file size) than the amount of size it takes up on the disk according to Windows explorer.
Explorer rounds up to the next kB, so a typical DexDrive file from a Nintendo 64 always uses exactly 36 kB, yet Explorer may report 37 kB. Additionally cluster sizes on each partition dictate how much space a file will truly consume, so a 1 byte file could take up 32 kB on a 2 GB FAT16 partition, for instance.
And then there are the issues of binary vs. decimal representations of kB, MB, GB, etc. Hardware companies often liked to cite the decimal versions (where 1 kB = 1000 bytes) to fool users into thinking their drives had more data, while software companies stayed true to the original binary definitions, where 1 kB = 1024 bytes and 1 MB = 1024 kB. As you approach GB and TB territory, this discrepancy increases.
And then there’s the confusion where 1.44 MB floppy disks didn’t follow either convention consistently. It’s actually 1.44 * 1000 * 1024 bytes, but that is its own discussion.
Explorer has always reported the true size as 1.38MB, so 1.44MB must be the fake decimal size.
Yes it is because when explorer will load a file it remove the end if the end is a space and it can’t remove the folder it can only read the folder but he is confused
