Each country has a culture of learning and this will effect the dynamics between teacher and students.
For a student to care about what you know, they have to know that you care.
It's amusing to hear all this talk about "micro managing" students when in a lot of companies nowadays, the trend is moving away from managing and towards leading.

Unfortunately, in Egypt we are used to teaching English as a subject not a a language
The pupils study it just to pass the exam and get full mark not to speak
