Another thing I loved about my Bronco too was the turning radius you could turn around on any street anywhere just you turn (BAM) They could turn around like a garden tractor totally cool
This looks like a great day on the trail. We haven't been to New Mexico for a couple of years, maybe we need to plan a trip soon. Great job spotting and driving on this one!
I'm super impressed with this Bronco 2. Everybody knows the fj's a beast but I had no idea you could squeeze that much out of a Bronco 2. Every time I think about the Bronco 2 I remember a contest they ran on a Snickers bar when I was a kid where you could win a Bronco 2. I would say that a Cherokee XJ has really met its match with a Bronco 2.
I had a1985 Eddie Bower 2.8 a4ld stock limited-slip option with a good year wranglers on it that thing was fucking a beast dude, It mobbed it'd go anywhere Just got to watch it on the side
Great video! My first vehicle was a 1990 Bronco II. Same desert tan color. Had a 3 inch lift, stock 4.10 gears, 5-speed, 4wd and it would nearly go anywhere. I really miss it. Super underrated off roader
I like the idea of a electronic disconnecting and reconnecting sway bar because if you're going to be challenged with clearance you can always reconnect your sway bar and you're not going to compress your springs as much- on a diagonal, anyway.
42min video seemed like a 5min video. Lol .. fun to watch. When I'm following my jeep buddies on 37's I get a little jealous, my fj is pretty much a sled over the rocks they crawl over 🤣 but I don't get winched. Front lockers make a huge difference. Awesome video, keep them coming 👍
So many great things about this one! Your camera work with the agility of a mountain goat , superb. Glad you had Leland to team up with for this one, wow. All that with your biggest signature smile 😃 great job Ken ! Appreciate the post a real weaker upper for Monday morning.
That TTB worked great, I love mine. I thinking too much lift on the Bronco, your CG is higher than it needs to be. Might want to think about a ATX. I had my A4LD built for off road. It's now good for up to 500hp. Who said IFS can't rock crawl. Love the video, thanks!
This made me really miss my B2, it sounded just like this one with the power steering pump and the v6 chugging along. Mine was a little deeper because of the muffler I had on it but damn that truck was bulletproof, except for the TFI module... I always carried a spare in the back. lol I parked it in 2013 with 547K miles on the odometer and started preparing it for a 5.0 swap. It sat for 8 years and I'm planning to bring it home this weekend.
@@offroadhub.official Yes I did! Its sitting on a concrete pad behind an RV gate now. Its in sad shape right now but I'm working towards putting it back up on the top of my list of things to do. I need an engine hoist and some jack stands.
Great that you could find someone who was willing to stop and set up the video/record for you. Its always challenging to find people who are willing to do this rather than just blast through the trail.
Not hating on your FJ by any stretch but that B2 was pretty cool. Usually these get SAS'd and V8 swapped. But from what I can tell, this one still has the original V6, manual trans and TTB setup. I wonder what he does for axles and U-joints with tires that size? Looked like a fun day out for both. Nicely done.
Yeah it's not super modified, a very cool rig. I can't remember the specifics of his axles and ujoints. Maybe he'll see this and chime in. Thanks for watching!
The axles are out of a 1st gen Explorer ('91-'94) and are pretty much stock aside from the gears, lockers, and Warn hubs. I haven't had a single issue with the rear 8.8" (31 spline); they are stout axles. The Dana 35 TTB is a bolt-in for Bronco IIs and I never had any issues with it before the doubler when I was on 35" tires. Since the doubler and 37" tires, I have had a couple U-joints eject their caps. I have since modified the shafts to accept full-circle clips and run Spicer 5-760x joints and have not had any problems again so far. That said, I only have 115 HP (the engine is completely gutless which is why you hear me stall it so much despite having a 125:1 crawl ratio) and I am a pretty conservative driver.
I know this is a long time past but where did you get your steering linkage. It looks beefy and has some similarities to the swing steering so it must help with bump steer right?
That little Bronco's front twin traction beam suspension is what killed alot of them and the people inside them... made them roll over on the slightest turns... I had pit my 89 B2 on two wheels plenty if times before I went with wider tires and wheels to make it more stable. I still have that lil B2 and it is part goat... it goes anywhere lol... awesome video. 2 thumbs up!
Ifs have been decent off roaders for many, many years. They have not even been over built either. Some traction aids have helped over the years. Ifs have a lot of potential with regards to being built.
Nice run and that sure shows the difference between 35s and 37s. Good to see a Bronco II still out there. A 5.0 Coyote would be a great addition to that rig.
Wow nów that was some hard trail maneuvering....... awesome combo ..... Old school Bronco vs FJ Cruiser \_/ ....btw that title would definitely get you big view numbers :)))) ..... in the new logo tho is that a little JEEP?:) ..... Cheers
Ford TTB setup has its drawbacks.... but out in the elements its tough and takes a beating. Having owned some 80's and early 90s Ranger STX and Bronco II for cheap in my younger days! They are up to the task of putting those Yota boys to shame......... Especially when it came to mudding! Running 35's on stock axles is easy.
Hey man, I'm a new subscriber to your channel but I've watched a few of you videos. And I love your content! It's not a difficult trail but it offers beautiful views of both the desert and some forest lands.
mikeymancha2594 its just a dana 35 ttb. Those year broncos originally came with dana 28 ttb in the 4wheel drive models. He swapped the that one in with a skyjacker lift kit and what looks like softer coils.
@@offroadhub.official so I’m thinking about buying a friends 88 bronco 4 speed manual. I’m new to manual transmissions but am extremely interested in overlanding/offroading. Can you please explain what’s happening to a complete novice? Thanks!

Leland a true TRIFECTA: driving, spotting, and camera work!
Those broncos have a pretty unique front axle setup, its cool to see one out crawling. It looks funny when the front wheels bow in like that.

Thank you for keeping the original axles on the Bronco II. Great to see how it would perform with minimal upgrades.
Great vid. That BII is sick.

Love the FJ performance. I Also have a soft spot for the Bronco II.
The Bronco II is probably under appreciated. It seems like a great platform to build!

Yeah! Tons of great trails there! And nobody on them.
That bronco II did awesome. Would love to see it with a new 5.0 and transmission. I think the owner will have a good time at king of the hammers.
It's funny to hear 35's being called smallish. I remember when 33's were considered large sized tires lol.
I know! 40's are the new 35's... 😄
That looks super fun, if a bit crazy. You take the vehicles out of there and I think it's pretty hard to actually locate the "trail".
