Gal after my own heart. I love coming up with ideas and building from scrap and inexpensive parts something that costs so much more store bought. You go girl.
when setting the hinges place them back a 1/8 th of a inch from the front board. That way the target leans slightly to the front. And that should help them stay up without the need for magnets? The magnets are a good idea though.
Interesting idea. I would like to have one but I don't have the money. But I have all the supplies at home so I can make it. It's always good to see women who are interested in the outdoors and shooting.

@@tiffanyoutdoors3885 yeah! Made a basic forge in my backyard. All it is is a hole in the ground (literally). Might be able to make hardened steel plates that last longer.

Thank you for the idea !!! I’ll be building one, although a little beefy. As I’ll be shooting with a .22.. the reset mechanism is what I’ve struggled with. You opened my eyes. Bless you
Great video. Wish I'd have found this 4 months ago. Would have saved me some trial and error. Another excellent target is the metal caps for steel fencing. The weld on type. Drill a hole in the top for a bolt, drill a small hole in the end of the bolt, and hang with some bailing wire. Makes a great little bell target. Have a wonderful day.
Well done ma'am. Glad I watched your video. You absolutely did an excellent job. I just finished making a dueling tree a few weeks ago and I have been wanting to make a reset targets for handguns.
thank you so much Donald it means so much to me that I have you some ideas maybe you can take this design and make it even better thank you for watching
Move the hinges back 1/2" so the plates lean forward slightly, that should stop them falling down before they are hit. Be careful with files they are brittle and can snap and fling razor sharp bits into your eyes etc. I think your resetable plate targets are brilliant, well done for working it all out, I might have a go myself.
D first thank you for watching and second I am so glad that my video inspired you to make something too. I hope your target comes out and works well for you ...thank you for watching
May I suggest small flat magnetic strips that have adhesive on one side and a flat magnetic strip on the other. They would be just strong enough to stop your targets from falling when you hit the wood.
Adrian I believe your 9 yr old will have a blast making this. I just love when parents make memories with their children and doing projects together strengthens a bond like no other
Great job 👍. I actually live on a small houseboat. So I can only "real" shoot at the range. So to practice on the boat I use a lazor pistol. I'm working on a BB target trap so I can shoot on my deck outside. It's enclosed but I have to be really careful and it's a challenge for sure. Anyway, you did a great job and gave me some ideas. Check Mate this is such an excellent and simple idea. Thank you so much for sharing this!! this idea would make it super adjustable and I could use any pellet gun
@@tiffanyoutdoors3885your very wellcome. Also heres some other ideas magnets can help hold the plates up in wind. If combined with set screws it would be possible to tune how 'sticky' it is to the magnet. A large wheel of sorts mounted to the side would offer larger mechanical advantage for the reset bar. As the rope would roll over the continuous outer edge of the wheel the mechanical advantage would always be at its highest during the arch of motion the reset bar takes. Hope this helps

Tiffany Outdoors , I like this style of target you can shoot over and over with out having to replace them so you can focus on the fundamentals of shooting, muscle memory, grip sight alignment etc.
Very simple and impressive. Will make one of those for sure :) I guess it could use a bit stronger wire or even a metal tube to make the targets return to position and a couple of smaller targets.
Great idea! If you wanted to make one for higher calibers without breaking the bank on ar500 steel, you could simply rivet tin cans in place of the electrical covers. Once the cans were destroyed you could just replace them. Mount the whole thing upside down and just let gravity reset the system.
Sounds like you had fun as a kid. I hope you can make one like the one I made in this video but make it even better with new ideas. Thank you for watching

Nice job! It's always tough to come up with a target design that can work flawlessly with a large range of different powered air guns. For the rifle, I'd either lean the entire base forward a little or move back the hinge on each target such that the targets lean forward a little when the base is level. This should prevent targets you're not shooting at from falling when you hit the one you are shooting at. Personally, I'd avoid shooting bb's at a steel target as the ricochet's can become unpredictable.
Thank you for the idea. I was thinking that I would try putting some soft foam on the back of each target so when it does fall the others wont fall too. Yes I agree the BBs did come back at me on some of my shots
