did you listen to her "per pietá" right at the end of the opera...? it's the most beautiful thing on earth! believe me! So the role is definitly sung perfectly by her! Or at least I don't know any better interpretation...
I think she is a great artist and a sincere and dedicated musician! But you can have freedom without all the external interference! It's a fine balance of tension and relaxation that makes it all work and if you are going to be considered an operatic actress your face and body must mirror the emotion created by the voice. As much as I love her she smart enough to be able to fix that problem and sorry it is a problem!! Nobody's perfect! BUT I love her!!
aysukonic, do not show your musical ineptitude, and ignorance for first Italians, and secondly for Mozart. Cecillia plays her part exactly as intended. She is GREAT.
On the one hand I agree with you that this aria sounds most appropriate sung by a voice which can break at about F (Margaret Prce, Carol Vaness) - but many sopranos whose voice break lower (Janowitz and Te Kanawa) were equally very famous Fiordiligis and no-one ever said their voices were "wrong" for the role - so at the end of the day its all just a matter of taste :)
@claireDVZO I happen to know a some singers who have worked with her, and they tell me that she is a technical anomaly. Things that shouldn't work, work great for her. In every bunch there is an exception to the rule otherwise the rule wouldn't have to be in place, it would just be common knowledge.

yes, she "can" sing anything, but there's a reason this aria was written for a soprano (ie, someone with their lower break at about an F) -- the low jumps stay in her head voice! It's not vocally very threatening-sounding with almost no chest voice... However, those triplets near the end scare me a lot. As does her tongue vibrato. And not in a good way.
I agree with others, great artist BUT the facial expressions and physical gyrations get in the way! I usually just close my eyes! Not sure why she doesn't fix that?
I'm sorry sorry for you but we Italians are proud to have a singer like her. maybe thi role isn't the most for her but she isn't absolutely vulgar.

a me lei piace per quanto non mi convica il fatto che abbia spesso un microfono nascosto..non è proprio il massimo.

Though her commitment and interpretive skills are always 100 % in evidence, sadly, this role is not for her.
