I love the direction you’re taking your videos bro ❤ I used to watch your channel(s) for the Nintendo content but all this extra stuff you’ve been doing just lately is great, I could watch videos like this all day long 👍🏼
I love this type of content. I've been a subscriber for years now. The part when you said you had a mental breakdown made me LOL! Too bad you couldn't keep the original patina of the shade.
Very nice restoration! However I would strongly suggest using a cable with three wires and then to connect the ground to the metal casing (I think this was the case on the original cable too). In case of a defect or if it comes in contact with water etc. this will trip the RCD and save you from electrocuting yourself. And water leaks never happen where you expect them, ask me how I know ;)
Love it! Do more, if possible include some of the research process. Would like to know more about your process when selecting paints/primers, I am assuming you learned a bunch regarding those during this project.
Could you please make a video of how to find the right suiting parts for any watch?? Im trying to build my own but am struggling with finding the right pieces.
Another really enjoyable video, Elliot. But did we REALLY need the gratuitous crotch-shot at 6:06?? Gah! Who am I kidding? OF COURSE we did! A wonderful restoration (nice Leica too). Keep 'em coming!!
When painting you dont need to sand paper to metal use the old paint like a primer use water sand paper grit 600 with water and sand paper till the paint has no shine then primer than paint like this the new paint has more body and not a thin coat on metal
6 minutes is where all good projects end up don't feel bad about it. That's literally how you end up with what makes it special and yours. Now it's something entirely unique 😊
The new paint job is not patch on the original, you'd have been best with that chipping take your spray can and a brush, sprayed enough to make a small pool of pain you could dip your brush into and paint with the brush inside on that tiny little chip.
When cheap stuff was made of metal. Our time sucks guys, I'm sorry. This lamp was the boomer times equivalent of a cheap 10 bucks one you'd get on Amazon and it's built like a modern premium desk lamp
Just wondering why you didn't spray some of the paint inside the can cap and use a small brush to touch up the chip mark? BTW I might be retiring my 10kg heavy ex RAF anglepoise lens with a ring fluorescent tube as was used to pore over spy camera fotos from the cold war, I kid you not it is massively heavy just I never uses it, if I do and you interested?
They dont quite make that perfect pea soup green color anymore. Its always any army green or olive shade. Bummer you had your stripper accident, but it still looks grand I'd say!
40 quid for a rusted up non-functional lamp and you think it's a good deal. You're the reason why people think they can charge out the ass for garbage.
Let’s refrain from extreme blames like this. It does no good and fixes nothing. But yes, 40 pounds for an old lamp with no historical significance is pretty steep.
Amsterdam is AWESOME! I bought a 200 EUR Walbusch Coat in a vintage store, and I paid 17 EUR for it. Obviously it was preowned but it still looks like new and is perfectly fine. That alone refinanced the flight tickets, although I mainly went there to visit friends and didn't even 'hunt' for a deal like that. I wonder what you could find if you had a view days and a bit of capital... PS: Are you wearing a diamond braclet?
Also, did anyone else see Elliot with and without his glasses and suddenly realize just how easily Superman and Kent Clark could pass for different people?
These kinds of little random vintage stuff restoration things you do are fantastic, Elliot. I'd definitely love to see this kind of stuff keep coming.
I wanted to say the same. Great restorations Elliot.
Absolutely love these kinds of videos, and the aesthetic you've got going in that room is phenomenal! Keep up the great work, Elliot!
Nice Leica m3 with the 50mm elmar…..have one myself. Didn’t realise you’re a film shooter, but not surprised you’re a man of many talents.
Gotta join the flood of compliments. Loved the soundtrack in this one.
i still loved that old green than the new one!

Hahaha loved to hear that you where in the little country i happen to live in!🥰 hope you had a wonderfull stay mate!😁
40 pounds for that is insanely expensive IMO, those streetmarkets in Amsterdam are usually obscenely expensive anyhow. But still a cool lamp....
totally agree. a lamp such as that should be half that cost or even lower, especially given the condition it was in.
I love this type of content. I've been a subscriber for years now. The part when you said you had a mental breakdown made me LOL! Too bad you couldn't keep the original patina of the shade.
When ever I think about buying a lamp, I think about that old IKEA commercial 😂
Love the new studio, and the filming in this video was absolutely amazing! The lamp turned out fantastic as well, great job!
Such a bummer you lost that originl green. Must have been crushing.
Looks perfect on your shelf. I like a lot where this channel is going.

Loved how it turned out, awesome job 💜
Gosh your new setup looks good!

Another Coll Elliot Masterpiece, sure did polish up pretty ;)
incredible job elliot! what a beautiful lamp
Beautiful! Would love to see more of this content.
I quite like this Lamp..
I like how you can see the lamp in the background while he's talking about it.
Love it.
I like this style of video. Gj Elliot!
Beautiful Elliot!
That lamp will mean much more to you, after the work you put into it. Nice job mate.
Could you please make a video of how to find the right suiting parts for any watch?? Im trying to build my own but am struggling with finding the right pieces.
You have style 😎
Do more of this please
lovely

Need to invest in a couple drill attachments, will help with polishing and wire brushing

I way prefer the green you chose!
Any plans for modding the horizontal gameboy dmg?
Could build a another watch please

Id have desperately tried to get the original switch working. Stylish little piece of plastic that haha

Not *that* hard to get metal, but it's usually aluminium, not steel.
it wasnt cheap back then too
The cover looks like it's missing a toggle switch that would came out the back where that small hole is at.
Zooooo goed
Sad if i knew you were in Amsterdam i wanted to meet you.
Elliot why don't you upload on your main channel much anymore?
yep that's the problem with spray paint
The shark was jumped today.
Just wondering why you didn't spray some of the paint inside the can cap and use a small brush to touch up the chip mark? It genuinely looked better before you sanded it, now it looks shit.
I’m loving the watch and now lamp videos new favorite channel rn
That's a weird-lookin' Gameboy
Should have used the original lead paint

Nice!
Awesome! That lamp looks really classy 😻
Nice.

Angle poise lamps are not rare. They are very, very common. They turn up all the time, even ones from the 70s go for little at auctions and car boots.
It's very clearly not a big standard angle poise though 😅
@@connorhalliday7304 exactly. Its a cheap, fragile knock off. Anglepoise is a British company and he went abroad to buy an inferior clone.
Hey, he's still alive! 😏

Harsh with a slight hint of rude, but true, very very true

It's a very nice lamp and lighting and aesthetic are important in keeping people happy. I'd have given £40 for it 🤷🏻♂️
@@howiezozo604 you just described my entire personality lol.
@@brooklyn11218 honesttly thats me too haha
Bike update?
I love you, but I felt that lacquer on chrome on my soul. And it caused me a fair amount of pain
40 POUNDS FOR THIS THING? ARE YOU MENTAL?!
It's great to have you back!
Love the videos man gonna subscribe next month
I like lamp.
I like 🐢 turtles
I really like the new background you got goin on. Keep this vibe up!
good job Elliot
Some people in this comment section clearly have literally zero understanding of style haha
Eliot! I hope you’re doing well bro, glad to see another video!

40 pounds for an old broken lamp???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He'll make a hell of a lot more than that from the video.
40 pounds? what a scam
It really is too bad you couldnt keep the original green colour but this turned out just great in the end!
As a wise, and very loud, man once said: I LOVE LAMP.
you got scammed by a dutch, should have haggled him.
Older brother of the Pixar lamp.
I knew those tweets were for a lamp
Also, did anyone else see Elliot with and without his glasses and suddenly realize just how easily Superman and Kent Clark could pass for different people?
That's a G-shock on your wrist, right?
I would use this to play Gameboy advance games because I am too unskilled to do screen mods.
Who knew that when you take off your glasses you become a grown man? I like the studio redesign, too!
Awsomw. Can u make a fat boy?
Did you haggle? Or does our culture mean NOTHING to you?
Next investment will be a sand blaster...
No idea who John Lewis is. I assume he's a friend of yours who sells you lamps often.
You should change the bulb for a Wi-Fi RGB one so you can add a splash of colour when needed and white when you don't need it.
No, thats horrible

Buy a bloody mirka hand palm sander. Painful to watch that hand sanding
