Yeah, I overpaid for these pencils, that seems to be the plain truth. Maybe this art supply store was too close to a tourist-y area and I got got. I'm still very happy with these Rotring 600 mechanical pencils, they go so good with my Rotring 800. They just feel good to hold in my hand and they work well!

Big brain move by the old Italian architects to ensure that in the future, cell service would not be available. Thus providing businesses the maximum potential to thrive by minimizing the ability to price check.
Those Rotring 600 pencils are my favorite pencils on the planet. Definitely worth the price, even if you paid extra, IMO ❤ In case anyone wants to know about the paper in your sketchbook, it's Fabriano Tiepolo 90 lb. printmaking paper. Available at Talas or Acuity Papers. You can definitely watercolor on it with your waterbrush. It's amazing paper. I'm so glad it's working for you ❤️
Hullo Peter, I think that most anything you buy on vacation or on a trip is worth whatever you have to pay to bring it home! Not only do you have this Pencil now it is a memory of your time in Italy! It is a souvenir that is practical too! It is something you can use for everyday or special occasions, it is your tool or nick-nack for display! I liked BOTH drawings and I feel that you have been enriched by your trip and perhaps these pencils will be a fond remembrance of that time in Italy! Thanks for sharing this and other experiences with us all.
Hey man I just wanted to let you know your UA-cam channel helps me get through my day’s and nights so don’t think down about your page because views are down man for some of us we need your videos
Everytime you'll draw with it, you'll think of your time in Italy and that's priceless 😅
You'd love the bamboo scaffolding they use to build homes in SE Asia, especially Laos. It's like a little forest of stability surrounding the half built cement structure. Quite trippy.
€25 for the pens, €25 for the manual labour of unlocking the door.
Your cool and I want to start drawing now because of your videos, so I bought pens and sketch pads
Have fun!
I live in a particularly pricey part of Italy. Growing up I loved to look at all the fancy art materials in the store, but they were so expensive that I felt like I would never be able to get them. Then sites like Amazon became a thing and I discovered that some things literally cost double or triple at my local stores. Imagine my shock. It depends on the brand and also sets tend to be more priced up then for example a single pencil, but I finally was able to fulfill some little dreams that I had since elementary school. I still buy things at the store that I know are fairly priced because I don't want stores to go away, but if there's a difference that's too extrem I now shop online.
Honesty Peter I really like when you draw a focused item like a face or creature and add your doodle to it.
Hi Peter - it's so good to see you're feeling much better! I've been looking at the Rotring 600 too on Amazon, but really wish I could have one that reminds me of my travels abroad each time I use it!!! It's great that you're so much more comfortable drawing portraits now - these are really good!!! Always love hearing about your experiences - you feel like a dear friend. 🍃
Glad you are feeling better Peter. ❤ I think about you all the time hoping youve overcome the migrane thing.
Your drawings with people and odd lines together looks so much like Alfonso Azpiri. Beautiful.
On the topic of pipe organs and the big tube. Pipe organ pipes effectively work the same way that you think a whistle does, you’re right. And that sensation of being able to feel the sound more so than hearing it, that’s a phenomenon called “infrasound.” Human ears can generally only hear fundamental tones down to around 20 cycles per second (i.e. hz). A tone isn’t just comprised of one singular pitch, it has a series of differing pitches ratio-ed above the fundamental called “overtones.” Google overtones and the harmonic series, it’s too much to explain lol. Anyway, there gets a certain point when a pitch becomes so low that we can no longer hear its fundamental tone, so it just sounds like a low ambiguous rumble. Yet we can still feel the air that is pulsating as a result of the tone being played, because that’s how sound travels and how we perceive it, the disruption through the air. The worlds largest pipe organ in Atlantic City, New Jersey at Boardwalk Hall Auditorium has the lowest pipe constructed in an organ standing at a whopping 64 feet long (if any pipe organ fanatics are reading this, yes, I know it’s not the only full 64’), creating a fundamental tone that sounds at 8 cycles per second. Human ears cannot hear that pitch, but everyone that has heard the 64 foot pipe attests that it’s not the sound that makes an impression, but rather how you feel it, because it moves so much air you can actually feel the sensation in your lungs and in your body.
The art support store XD "Have you an art materials addiction? Fear not, the art support store has a telephone line, open 24/7, free to call. We're here to help you decide, wether you REALLY need that new pen or not" XD
Really good looking pens. Hope you had a good time in Florence. Was there once with my art class, years ago, and for a teenager it really was an amazing trip... Would love to return asan adult now. Re-experience.
'Stop Making Sense' -- a great concert movie. The intro is great. 'Psycho Killer' is a fun song to hear and play...
i hate all the guys interviewing david byrne are, though!
Hello Peter! Glad you feel better 😊
Goodbye 😁
I love your art!!!
Whimsical portraits, i love them
I did some doodles of my current ttrpg character along side, thank you
I really like the second portrait, handsome, figurative and abstract.
i really enjoyed your trip to italy sketchbooks. i saw this one and another but can't find it. but in one book you drew a "weird" plumbing trap. S and P traps are plumbing for drains. the S and P shapes allow water to stay in the bottom of the trap leaving good air on top of the water and bad air on the other side of the water. that trapped water creates a barrier of water to stop the fumes (An S-trap flows down from the drain, curves up, then curves back down. The P-trap also flows down from the drain and curves, but the curve finishes on a horizontal pipe that takes the waste out. Once the trap dries out, sewer gases can start flowing back into your home). copied that from an explanation I found.
Anyway, you got your money's worth out of that trip. lots and lots of good drawings and memories. thanks for sharing.
I have the Rotring 600, the 800 0.5 & 0.7 and also The Rapid Pro Lead Holder.....I rarely use my 600 unless sitting at my desk working with it, it's not travel friendly and I've had to replace it once because it fell and the tip bent rendering it unless. The others are retractable and a dream to work with, I absolutely love them. I can throw them into my work bag and not worry about them!!
Yeah I can see how the tips on these could be more fragile
When it bent on mine I just took it apart and used the pen refill to straighten it out. If you use a spent one you won't even have to worry about breaking it.
That is very much Ulrik Thomsen! Was wondering where I knew that face from.
Festen = The Party
Thomsen is one of our national treasures. 😊
Festen (The Celebration) is one of the best movies ever made. You captured the despair of Ulrich's character. He comes home to a big family gathering to celebrate his father's birthday, but when it's his time to make a toast, he has another, much darker story, to tell... Watch it.
Im so happy for you, sometimes artist think too much about everything and the click of the think is just to have fun to make the best out of drawing at least that's what I do when I'm drawing
Hey, Peter you are awesome! I’ve been watching your videos for years and I’m happy to see you still making videos. Keep up the awesome work! ❤❤❤
Been watching for nearly 9 years now, you're such a legend .
you should do more like this peter it was really enjoyable
Thanks!
Great sketching.
Uh-huh! a Peter Draws video while I’m at lunch!
My guy, one man’s genius, yours, inspires those of us who can barely hold a pencil…. Your portrait work seems great to us…. Keep drawing…
Love these pieces! I had long convinced myself that doodling is my forte and avoided any attempts at realism. What you've achieved here has me wanting to try portraiture.
Hey Peter. Another great video. I love your videos and glad you are feeling better. Almost 1m subs. Well done!!!
Weird is wonderful. Glad you’re feeling better, Peter ✨🧚🏼♂️✨
Rotring made some unique fountain pens over the years. The 600, 700, Altro, Core, Esprit, Initial, Lissabon, Newton, Rive, Skynn, Surf, and many others.
You should watch Festen, try to go in blind. The Biennale story sounds awesome. I help build pipe organs by the way ^^ they are in essence giant whistles but of course there's a variety of types; open, reed, trumpet etc. Their sound is unlike anything else.
That’s awesome to work on pipe organs :)
That rotring is a top-tier purchase. One of the best mechanical pencils out on the market.
They’re gorgeous 😭 I need to get the blue one!
The build of that pencil is beautiful though! I have never had a Rottling, but it looks like it is priced at $47 on Amazon for the 0.5 mm. The metal exterior would have sold me but I'm all for "sturdy" art supplies. The red with the black looks so aesthetically pleasing for me.
loving the switch up with the subject Peter!
I have those exact pencils 😀 in the blue I use a blue Uni nano dia lead, in the black a red lead.
I also have a 0.7mm silver Rotring with a Pilot color eno in light blue.
Newly discovered a fun pen for on the go is a 0.5 mm Rhodia 3-in-1 script multipen. It’s a red ballpoint, a black ballpoint and a mechanical pencil all in 1.
Omg im so happy to have more of your vids again eee😅
Mystery flavor... lol. Makes sense.
All your talk about pipe organs, and David Byrne, reminded me of his art piece PLAYING THE BUILDING. Which you should check out!
Both look great
I love your writing instrument videos. If you have any good Fountain Pen ones in the pipeline, that would make my day
I love the new drawing style
You should make a coloring book. Your artwork is amazing!!!❤❤❤
see "Color Me Crazy" first edition 2015 by Peter Deligdisch
Sounds like the well was filled with Ferro fluid, neat stuff
100% worth every penny. I have 6 rotrings they are all I use
Well, you supported a small business instead of a huge online shop, that is a good thing after all. 😉
I have it in rose gold and is beautif💜l!
Whenever I watch one of your videos I somehow also start doodling, so: thanks for this kind of positive infection that is positive.
Great portraiture! Have never seen Rotring pencils... something new to investigate! :)
I've got one of those Rotring 600 pencils. They're really nice. I like the weight of it.
It's all about the navigation of the lead, it's less about the direction of the sails
they are really beautiful sketches. Not that your usual stuff isn't great but it's nice to see something different.
❤️❤️ love you! And this
it wouldn't be a peter pencil video without the smell test 😂
Peter, I can't BELIEVE I hadn't already subscribed to your channel years ago. Oh, no, actually I'm a big fat liar. I CAN believe because for a long time I didn't subscribe to anything anywhere, and recently, within the last year or so I started hitting that button. The algorithm was beneficent and sent me one of your videos again so I could get this second chance to sub. I did it. I'm so proud of myself. Also, you're an amazing artist. I'm certain you needed to hear me say that.
hello peter, i was an old fan from long ago who drifted away for one reason or other and you just showed up on my for you page. it feels nice to be back, i'm a new man since then.
early gang 💪 hope you're feeling better, and thanks for sharing your art experiments !
my new goal is to make art that makes people say "it wad pretty odd and awesome and i loved it" 🙆♂️💖
That blue rotring is gorgeous!
These are the best mechanical pencils to draw fine details with, but they are made in germany not italy. Don't drop em or the metal part will bend. Otherwise, they are great. It's a $20 pencil though, so it better be good lol. The Pentel mechanical pencils of the same "draftsman" quality range are almost as nice, but their tip retracts so you don't have to worry as much about breaking them. I can't bring the r0tring one anywhere because of the tip, and one has already broke from dropping it on its tip. Lately I just use wood.
I’ve been using the same Rotring 800 lead holder for like 15 years. High cost? Yes. High value? Yes!
Probably lost at least 20 ¥1000+ Kurotoga pencils in that time.
I immensely enjoyed this, both for your always-inimitable and entertaining way of talking-I fear you'd be a good writer-and the unique subject of your drawings today.
Dare I suggest that it was inspired in part by the comment I made on a previous (the previous?) video?
I'm going to imagine it's so, whether it is or not.
love it man
David Byrne of Talking Heads in his Big Suit in Stop Making Sense. I really think you’d dig it. Not a normal concert vid. A cult classic and a must see.
Peter, Peter, Peter. . . You never pay marked prices in Italy! Everything is marked up at least 5 times! My go to move as a tourist was to put 30 euros in my pocket. Apologize, turn my pocket out. I'd say I will try to come back before my flight. 99% of the time they took the 30 euros as payment. I was living in the Nederlands and to a lessor extent the same thing worked in most of Europe.
Immediately recognized the rotring 600/800 from the thumbnail, I have one going strong for 6+ years!
Just came across your channel, I've never seen your videos before. You remind me of if Napoleon Dynamite really leaned into his artistic side.
good job, Peter
love you, peter
Bro trying a new style, instantly created a metal gear character
Weird, I just got myself a new Rotring 600 last week. I’ve got an older one and the 800. I prefer the 600 w/0.5.
I love rOtring pens have a whole collection of them. really want the 2.0mm but they are really hard to find. only on Ebay but i can't give over 200€ for it. the prices for older rOtrings are just insane. ps: love your drawings
My talented brother in Christ, please do another drawing feelings, those videos are great, love to see you uploading more actively
Nice drawings,
Tried the Rotring 600 it was okay, but I dropped it and the tip broke off😠. Then I tried the Graphgear 1000 and haven’t looked back. I just wish Pentel would come out with a 2.0mm version.
Hey Peter. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you doing anything.🧑🎨♾️✍️
isn't the lead they come with hB? it says at the top :o the silver one is preeeeetty i want one :D
Honestly, you sound like you're talking about a dream you once had! 😂
I missed your videos. UA-cam didn't listed it anymore 😢
hello Peter, have a beatiful night
You should go straight to Japan ! Just to go to their artist store. I don’t know what it’s called but it’s freaking wow.
Are you telling me you don’t have Red led for those pencils?
Hi Peter
Hello!
david byrne is the lead singer from the group The talking heads.
If it makes you feel any better about the the Rotring 600 purchases, the Rotring 800 2mm you have probably has a resale value of ~$200
You would love Talking Heads :)
Dope
I'm glad they still allow people to fly with sharp objects from Italy
You could take a whole suitcase full of knives if you checked your bag
@@peter_draws good to know! Those are also very sharp.
......or not 2B, that is the question
Hah I was thiiis close
Hello
Peter, is that 2B lead really that dark, or did you color-correct this video a bit?
The video does make it look slightly darker
When I saw the thumbnail I thought you where the dude from home alone
FairPlay for not being great at art, but killing it with youtube! :)
if you like the rotring 500/600 then you'll like the pentel graphgear 500
Why did I actually reach out to touch the pen I need to go to bed
wow these are incredible! definetely inspiring me to do some portrait drawing to; if you can improve on quickly in like a month, so can i! ^o^
