I remember reading an article years ago in Pennsylvania Angler magazine about Muskie in the Delaware River...There was a hotspot for them in this one area where a creek flowed into the river...I forget where or what creek but I bet you could Google it.....I also know that the Schuykill has muskie as well
Crankbait Chase After reading other comments from the poster and from looking at the scenery in the video, it appears to be the spillway of Cowanesque Lake in Tioga County. I’m from Tioga County myself. Very far from Blue Marsh, if I’m not mistaken that’s near Reading? That’s what Google said 😂 I was fishing in Cowanesque a month or so ago and caught nothing but two bluegills and a small bass. But others have had better luck... seemingly not this year though.
All the comments about using the fish for bait lol. you're completely allowed to do whatever you please with your fish if it meets legal requirements. I know a guy that caught trout and then used them as bait for striper haha. nice muskies buddy. tight lines!
Can you put a boat or kayak in right below of the spillway? I was looking at an aerial trying to figure out how to access the area. I am from southern pa and have never been here before. I plan on making a trip up there in the fall for a few days. Thanks for any input!
If you hook the baitfish 3/4 of the way back from the head then the fish can dangle with better movement. Not only that but it will live longer. Just a tip. Nice video
in PA any game fish that is legal can be used for bait, and in my books will be used for bait! other than carp which in PA happens to be illegal cause they don't want them get transferred into other water systems!!
There is a parking lot below the dam on the NY side of the river. The only resonable way to get a boat in there is to park in that lot and walk it down in on the road along the dam. It is a pain no matter how you do it there. It is really hard if you try to bring it up from down stream. In my opinion you wanna do it from the road by the dam. Was just there this past weekend and lost a 55+ incher.
This is a different spillway then my other ones. This one is about 6 miles north of the other one. This one is packed with muskies, smallmouth and nice cats. The difference between the 2 is that this one is a severe pain to get a boat into, and when the bobber goes down or line goes out here you know its gonna be something big. haha. The other spillway is excellent for quantity and variety, this one is good for quality. I caught 2 off the bank here the other day too. Biggest was 24lbs.
man that's crazy i have a cabin in potter and me and my cousins fish this exact spill way for musky and bow fish the creek for carp. we also fish the tioga spill way and catch lots of stiper and big cats as well as walleye.
I have caught some close to 50", but not 57! Thats an awesome fish! Most of the ones you catch here are right at the 36-40 range. 40" is legal size, and everyone keeps them the second they reach legal limit.
have you ever tried the spillway below blue marsh lake? in hear there's good walleye and muskie there and i wanted to try it. I use my 7' light action cabelas fish eagle II for almost everything and i think a 40+ inch muskie would be an awesome battle on it
Thanks! That had to be the fastest comment i have ever gotten. Lol. You commented like 30 seconds after it uploaded. I lost one that was double their size after a 30 minute fight.
Man that looks like fun! I've never caught a muskie. Always wanted to, just never fished the right spots I guess. I bet a 50 incher would put up quite a battle!
Heck yes it is. I lost one today that was well over 30lbs after a half hour fight. Friggin hook pulled out 30' from the boat. Biggest ive ever landed is 24lbs. Lost a bunch bigger than that though. Tons of fun on light line. Frustrating at times too though!
The 1st one here was a tiger, the second was a purebread muskie. 8lb test and ultralight rod makes it super fun!! And sometimes a little frusrating. lol.
I actually used to catch them here. But then lost patience with it because I can fish 5 miles down the road and catch cat after cat, or striper, or walleye. But then I decided to start fishing here again and was catching 5 or so a day.
It tastes good. Its just so boney that i dont mess with them to eat when i can get walleye and catfish that take half the time to prep. It was a great day. I just wish i could've got the other 2 on video, and the monster that i lost after a 30 minute fight in.
its been a while sence i was there but i caught a tiger musky that was just shy of 45 inchs when i was say 14ish so two years ago and its still in there cause it broke my rod twice
Oh shit no kidding?? My family camps a week every summer at Ives Run on Hammond lake! Ever see the mounted Tiger Musky they have in their check-in office?? I've always wanted to catch a musky but never have!!
Beautiful fish.looks like a ton of fun but you shouldn't fish and pull the fish through the water when releasing..water is meant to go one way through their gills . just keep em upright and they will go when ready
I will go with your assesment of 3 times the flow troll. mine measures in at just under 14" and just over 15" with counting the handle fully extended. lol. point is that there is absolutely no way to reference tne size of it, and I am sorry I couldn't show a vid of myself measuring it, just for you. Do you have any vids up of yourself fishing by yourself? You should try it and see how impossible it is to show everything, just to please every turd and naysayer out there.
That's the way it should be, keep the big genes in the lake or river. My buddy has a 52.5 on the wall that was caught n released. Now another person has a chance to experience that wonderful fish. We should have laws like that in the states.
All just personal preference i guess. Some people are light tackle people and I'm a baitcaster guy. I'm not knocking your fish either it's a nice muskie
Nah, it was a little musky, no doubt. But it was the length I said regardless of what you think. That was your 2nd comment, that it wasn't. I have caught 50-54 inchers here. This was not a big one, but barely legal.
Yeah, when you hold them in the water, best to do just that, hold them, instead of rocking them back & forth like you're doing here. When you pull them back towards you, you're drowning them, not helping them. Hold them steady, & they'll recover on their own, IF they're not already too tired out.
I'm originally from Allentown and have fished the Lehigh River for trout up off 145 Laurie Station. My buddy lived 2 min from there and I remember pics he showed me of Muskies laying on the bank that he caught... So yeah, definitely up that way. A lot of cold springs flow in to the Lehigh River up that way. I saw 2 muskie in Allentown, one in the canal, and one down past the point in the river at canal.park......Then there's the huge muskie that was caught when. they were building the Hamilton st dam near the old A & B meats. The muskie was mounted and hung in the Lehigh River Bait and Bow shop that use to be right there. not surd if they are still there, I moved from Allentown in 2004. but yeah, a lot of Muskie up that way
+DJ TRAP I saw three muskie about 5 foot in length just 3 mins down the cement water fall of course they show up when I'm not fishing and doing marine biology reports
Im also in PA i Forgot to mention that Down near quakertown I just got my go pro and want to film some good fishing so let me know if you wanna hook up and get double the video
I am from Bradford Co. This was in Tioga Co. I am all about catch and release. I keep some walleye or cats once in a while, but just can't bring myself to keep these bad boys!! haha. They are a ton of fun to catch!!
What is up with people keeping Muskie. They don't taste good. They are sport fish, now days u don't even need it to mount. If you take all hour measurements rite you can have a replica made. These are truly great fish that are meant to be caught n released to catch another day. The Canadians don't even eat them. If you have ever took a serious trip to Canada, like Manitoba. They have laws there way up north, like no barbs on ur hook. Also you can only keep them 30' or smaller. Big genes stay
I have caught musky of a lifetime and released them . I use the same set up for 20--30lb cats too. I Idon't eat musky and could care less if I lose a few. I am in it for the fun and cchallenge. If you don't think that fish was what I said than too bad for you. There is nothing to compare size to and I don't feel compelled to try to get a picture of it on a board just to cater to the youtube bitches.i
OKAY!! thank you. I live by the Beltzville dam, but its fished hard and there is alot of heavy traffic on that lake. I was told there is some big muskies in there but i dont think i had the proper bait. what live bait is legal to use?
I think lake nockamixon is pretty close to beltzville isn't it? That has a ton of musky too. You can use any baitfish or panfish for bait. I like 3-4" sunfish or big shiners or suckers.
The one time that I have been to beltzville it looked wide open without much cover. If that is the case then I'm not sure. Cowanesque up here has tons of weeds and cover and the slimmest in this video they just hug the walls. Top water works good here and I rig all of my live bait just like in the video. Sometimes I don't use a float.
Not even close to 42. Maybe 36. Compare it to the minnow buckets. They are 12 inches long, and that fish is lucky to be 3 times that size, let alone 3.5. Nice fish, but even with a video a fish story.
dont grab a musky or pike by the neck or eye sockets unless you intend to keep it. the neck can break its spine leaving it paralyzed and the eye sockets are just obvious. was this in the allegheny over by warren?
What's with all the haters on this video. I guess people don't have anything better to do. hunterknapp16 I sent you a private message. I appreciate this video and the advice you have given to the non-knucklehead people. Why don't you just delete and ban those people? Anyways I hope you respond to my message. Thanks!
that isn't the dam below pymtuming in pa in Jamestown is it ? ........... it sort of looks like it but at that location you canot fish above the wire nor can you have a boat .
You are the regard. Using ANY fish in pa for bait is absolutely legal so long as it meets any size requirements (which we don't have for panfish, except a few "trophy panfish" lakes), and you don't go over you legal limit of them. So strike one for you assbag. I have caught hundreds of muskie on these rugs and released all of them successfully. I have caught some of the fish in this spillway multiple times. I know from markings, sores, etc. You guys are real assbags to think these fish are dying, and at least get to KNOW THE LAWS IN MY STATE before spewing your puke and garbage on my videos.
np ,,,,,,,,,,,, I just remembered the good days of fishing in PA until I moved to north Carolina ,,,,,,, you see many leaflets pamplets and so on about the fishing and hunting here ,,,,,,,,,, cough cough , BULLLSHIT ,,,,,,,,,,,, ive caught more and bigger fish in one day in pa without trying than 3 years of busting my ass in this state . that video brings back great memories all over western PA for me for anywere from trout to musky northerns to cats and strippers . hell even the carp were fun.
Not one thing crappy about my tackle pal. So you use a super special $30 pole?? lol. And do you use a level wind reel with it?? Good luck getting up into where these fish are with a level wind.
You're using too light tackle. At least 12 pound. Since you have a small reel you could use braid. Heavier action rod too. That's just a suggestion so don't cuss me out just chill.
Your flow troll is bigger than everybody else's. and I said it would be lucky to be 3 times the size. It's not. Another way you can tell the size of the fish is how close the fins are. On your "easy 42" , the fins are much to close together to be a 40 in her. Check out theses pics of a lot of 40 inches and look how far apart the fins are. They are bigger than the "42" on this video.
How the hell could you even begin to try to tell how big it is??? There is nothing to compare it to. I pick it up and you can see its head compared to what? My hand? When I am releasing it see if my hand goes down it 10. Times.Lol. it was 42". I caught it, I know. I could care less what you think.
+Kaleb Crossett this is absolutely cowanesque spillway. lol. If you think different than you are an idiot. Please, feel free to tell me the name of the lake/spillway that I have grew up by and fished my ENTIRE life.
Fishing for Musky with light line is probably not the best idea if you intend to release the Musky alive. Light line takes too long to land the fish and it's completely exhausted. You talk about hooking a 30 pound fish and fighting it for 1/2 an hour. Are you kidding me ? .... and you want to release this fish alive ? Playing a fish to death will kill it just it just as fast as taking it home and eating it. Holding it up in the air vertical while holding it behind the head is also probably not a very good idea.
Yeah, OK. I guess I must be killing all of the catfish too then huh?? And the bass, and walleye. Please, spare me the bullshit. I have caught hundreds of these fish, and some multiple times (cut fins and mouths and such). There has never once been one floating or dead here, and it is a small water. Is that all that you people do is search videos all day to bitch and cry about them? Thats the way it looks to me. Go cry in the lake, I heard a droought is coming.i
hunterknapp16 LOL ! I have a 40" hanging on my wall that's about a foot longer than your 42". Why do you show people your videos if you're going to be an ass when they tell you what they see ?
hunterknapp16 Talking to you is a waste of time. You'll say anything to justify your beliefs. Fly fishing is a completely different thing. A lot of fly fishermen eat the fish they catch and don't release them. Most Muskies on the other hand are released. I've also never played a fish for 30 minutes while fly fishing. I caught 20 pound Salmon in the Salmon River while fly fishing in heavy currents and didn't have to play them for 30 minutes and that was using 12 lb. tippet material because anything lighter would break like sewing thread. I mounted the first musky I ever caught which was a 40" fish. It was 25 years ago. This area gets heavy fishing pressure and frankly, that's a pretty good size musky for this area. I took 2nd place in a fishing tournament with that fish. Man, you need to grow up.
hunterknapp16 The fish I mounted was a heavy female and probably went somewhere between 18 and 20 pounds. It wasn't weighed because the tournament went by length. The guy that won that tournament had a long skinny male fish, he beat me by 1/2 an inch. The people measuring the fish measured mine 3 times and told me I had the heaviest fish of the tournament. If you want to fish light line, go with at least 12 pound test and forget noodle rods. Those are for Steelhead. I try to use at least 20 pound test when fishing for muskies. But, I've been guilty of using bass tackle with 12 pound line. Use your head a little bit and I'm sure you'll be able to release more fish that will survive. Being that you're using live bait with light tackle, and don't have any power to set the hook, I'm sure many of those fish are hooked deep. Removing hooks from fish that are gut hooked will kill fish also.
What I mean is why are these guys giving you shit about the sizes when you're fishing in a barrel? It's no spectacular achievement and to hear this jealous people cry sizes, I lol at the whole bunch. This is what musky fishing is becoming.
Why do you pull the fish back n forth? They can't breath when you pull them backwards, thats why you never see a fish swim backwards, just hold them there until there ready instead of drowning them please.
but if you wana catch tons of walleye while there spawning hit up the creek right out of the dam in Jamestown ,,,,,, while the water temp is between 62 and 68 or so ,,,,,,,,,,, and even in the middle of winter ive seen ....... 4 foot strippers caught and lost a few 50 inch muskie in a water way barely 4 feet deep for the walleye the smaller hook hand tied size 10 or smaller works best with a minnow dragged slowly as possible along the bottom
riff724 riff724 My wife's family goes to Lake Pymatuming every year this will be the first year I am going. If you have any tips or tricks I would greatly appreciate it. We will be up the July 24th - 27 this month . You can reply on here or better yet hit me up on facebook. my email on there is grammybammy@hotmail.com Thanks in advance
Not in PA what? I know the law here and I am correct. You can use carp now as well. There are a few trophy class lakes that have size limits on panfish. In those handful of lakes it is illegal to use them, not in 99.9% of the state though, and not where I am fishing.
Awesome Muskies! Beautiful fish. I wish we had more of these here in the heart of Philadelphia...sigh. Tight lines, buddy!
I remember reading an article years ago in Pennsylvania Angler magazine about Muskie in the Delaware River...There was a hotspot for them in this one area where a creek flowed into the river...I forget where or what creek but I bet you could Google it.....I also know that the Schuykill has muskie as well
Extreme Philly Fishing where is this at
They are there
This is at the spillway at blue marsh PA you don’t catch a ton but their is some big fish there yesterday I caught 31 pound flat head catfish up there
Crankbait Chase After reading other comments from the poster and from looking at the scenery in the video, it appears to be the spillway of Cowanesque Lake in Tioga County. you really had to hold the bluegill out of the water the whole time while talking?
All the comments about using the fish for bait lol. you're completely allowed to do whatever you please with your fish if it meets legal requirements. I know a guy that caught trout and then used them as bait for striper haha. nice muskies buddy. tight lines!
Where is this spillway looking to catch my first musky i use 60lb power pro and a high drag bait caster
Im no where near blue marsh. this is cowanesque lake spillway.
I wonder why you lost 6 more.... probably that 8lb line lol
Obviously you know nothing about fishing because 8lb spider wire is like 20lb test but 8lb diameter....
I’ve caught 100 of them on 12# and no leader
Is this the spillway of marsh creek?
do you know still when they shut down that flowing water "thingy"
Can you put a boat or kayak in right below of the spillway? I was looking at an aerial trying to figure out how to access the area. I am from southern pa and have never been here before. I plan on making a trip up there in the fall for a few days. Thanks for any input!
Great video, what part of PA is this dam? Looks like it has a good musky pop!
Where is this at. Great fish by the way and do you have any recommendations on baits to use for the river or are you strictly live bait.
what spillway?
If you hook the baitfish 3/4 of the way back from the head then the fish can dangle with better movement. Not only that but it will live longer. Just a tip. Nice video

where are you in PA? I fish a spillway near me and was wandering if you would like to come with and film?
What part of PA are you from!! those are some nice fish.. awesome they were released to get bigger
Thanks! That had to be the fastest comment i have ever gotten. Lol. You commented like 30 seconds after it uploaded. I lost one that was double their size after a 30 minute fight.
Man that looks like fun! I've never caught a muskie. Always wanted to, just never fished the right spots I guess. I bet a 50 incher would put up quite a battle!
are you kidding 1/2 mile down is penn state berks campus where are you from? I fished these waters before blue marsh was ever a lake
pymatuning lake muskie is 30 inches or more
What lake is this you are fishing in?
Cool video man, I'd like to try something like that one of these days!
Heck yes it is. I lost one today that was well over 30lbs after a half hour fight. Friggin hook pulled out 30' from the boat. Biggest ive ever landed is 24lbs. Lost a bunch bigger than that though. Tons of fun on light line. Frustrating at times too though!

Oh I had some good ones on. I fought one that was well over 30lbs for about a half hour and the hook pulled out just infront of the boat. Thanks!
Good job handling those fish!
where is that at
is at kinzua dam
What spillway is this
It tastes good. Its just so boney that i dont mess with them to eat when i can get walleye and catfish that take half the time to prep. It was a great day. I just wish i could've got the other 2 on video, and the monster that i lost after a 30 minute fight in.

False myth do some research. Only way to revive a fish is to flow water through its gills. Can't keep doing that holding it still. Research.
hi I'm from Northampton PA and was wondering if you ever fished up my way and if so have you ever caught muskey up here
nope
+hunterknapp16 you should try nice small mouths tons of trout big catfish and best of all big muskey

hey man come to kittanning ill get you on some good muskys

that isn't the dam below pymtuming in pa in Jamestown is it ? ........... it sort of looks like it but at that location you canot fish above the wire nor can you have a boat .
No, Tioga county.
Sorry, wrong person!!
np ,,,,,,,,,,,, I just remembered the good days of fishing in PA until I moved to north Carolina ,,,,,,, you see many leaflets pamplets and so on about the fishing and hunting here ,,,,,,,,,, cough cough , BULLLSHIT ,,,,,,,,,,,, ive caught more and bigger fish in one day in pa without trying than 3 years of busting my ass in this state .
that video brings back great memories all over western PA for me for anywere from trout to musky northerns to cats and strippers . hell even the carp were fun.
That's exactly were I thought I was to fished it 1000 times little shenago holds huge musky pike especially around trout to bass opening day
I fish a penn slammer combo twenty pound mono with a balloon ! I ain't got time for crappy tackle!
Not one thing crappy about my tackle pal. So you use a super special $30 pole?? lol. And do you use a level wind reel with it?? Good luck getting up into where these fish are with a level wind.
no that is most definataly woodcock
Man, its as if you were there with me. lol.
Good video
You're using too light tackle. At least 12 pound. Since you have a small reel you could use braid. Heavier action rod too. That's just a suggestion so don't cuss me out just chill.
I could use 60lb. but I don't want to, so just deal with it. this works perfectly fine.
"Works just fine" yet loses 6 more fish
Your flow troll is bigger than everybody else's. and I said it would be lucky to be 3 times the size. It's not. Another way you can tell the size of the fish is how close the fins are. On your "easy 42" , the fins are much to close together to be a 40 in her. Check out theses pics of a lot of 40 inches and look how far apart the fins are. They are bigger than the "42" on this video.
sweet vid.and if it works for u.fuck everyone else!...fish on bro.
pymatuning is 30
How the hell could you even begin to try to tell how big it is??? There is nothing to compare it to. I pick it up and you can see its head compared to what? My hand? When I am releasing it see if my hand goes down it 10. Times.Lol. it was 42". I caught it, I know. I could care less what you think.
nice fish.
Good job
i pulled a 47 out of a spillway the same size
i go there every day
Cowanesque Lake Spillway.
hunterknapp16 fr?
Iwhatfishintherelastyeardidnotgotidamthin
I'd go with atleast 17lb test
way to overestimate the size of your fish
what spillway is this?
cowanesque lake
+hunterknapp16 I have a camp up there where u are fishing and that's not the name of the lake that you are at because I fish there all the time.
+Kaleb Crossett
this is absolutely cowanesque spillway. lol. If you think different than you are an idiot. Please, feel free to tell me the name of the lake/spillway that I have grew up by and fished my ENTIRE life.
+hunterknapp16 it looks like the spill way at pymotuming
I'm looking at both lakes on google maps but I don't see any spillways
Go cry in the lake, I heard a droought is coming.i
hunterknapp16
LOL ! I have a 40" hanging on my wall that's about a foot longer than your 42". Why do you show people your videos if you're going to be an ass when they tell you what they see ?
I guess you must really hate fly fishing then?? Every single one of them for any species are fought to exhaustion.
hunterknapp16
Talking to you is a waste of time. Man, you need to grow up.
hunterknapp16
The fish I mounted was a heavy female and probably went somewhere between 18 and 20 pounds. Removing hooks from fish that are gut hooked
will kill fish also.
What I mean is why are these guys giving you shit about the sizes when you're fishing in a barrel? It's no spectacular achievement and to hear this jealous people cry sizes, I lol at the whole bunch. This is what musky fishing is becoming.
And that was like 32 inches at most
Why do you pull the fish back n forth? They can't breath when you pull them backwards, thats why you never see a fish swim backwards, just hold them there until there ready instead of drowning them please.
False myth. Do some research.
drowning a fish...... wow these people are a special kind of stupid
fish don't "breathe", their gills extract the oxygen out of the water
This video is 4yrs old. Get over it.
Get over it? I was defending you man.
Why do you guys give a shit about the size? Look where this kid is fishing lol
but if you wana catch tons of walleye while there spawning hit up the creek right out of the dam in Jamestown ,,,,,, while the water temp is between 62 and 68 or so ,,,,,,,,,,, and even in the middle of winter ive seen ....... 4 foot strippers caught and lost a few 50 inch muskie in a water way barely 4 feet deep
for the walleye the smaller hook hand tied size 10 or smaller works best with a minnow dragged slowly as possible along the bottom

Cowanesque Lake spillway.
Get better gear then
hunterknapp16 where is pa is this hole i am wprking on catching my first musky
Its illegal to use game fish as bait..
Maybe in your state, NOT IN PA. Know the law before you try to be internet police. Illegal to use carp as bait here, period.
Not in pa
Not in PA what? I know the law here and I am correct. You can use carp now as well. There are a few trophy class lakes that have size limits on panfish. In those handful of lakes it is illegal to use them, not in 99.9% of the state though, and not where I am fishing.
+hunterknapp16 no I'm agreeing with u bud. I also live in pa. I can use them as bait
Thanks!!
