Very strenuous duty discharging by both. I always salute them for such duties in all type of extreme climatic conditions, fault, day & night.. Even though aircraft has autopilot, the pilots do not control everything, and they have seconds to decide what to do in case of emergency, just like loco pilots. If there is a small mistake on the side of ATC, then within seconds two aircrafts will crash in air, just like railway traffic management. Just bcos aircrafts don't have signals, doesn't mean the pilots job is easier than locopilots. Both of the jobs require a lot of skill and responsibility and mental aptitude. My qualification? I am an aerospace engineer. And unlike trains, aircraft flies at 0.9 Mach. And aircraft engines cost more than locomotive. Comparing the professions of locopilot and airplane pilot is a foolish thing to do.
