    In addition to the winged plate shape and roomier toebox, the heel platform is also wider and much more stable than the 2s. I'm a bigger runner (6'3, 215lbs) and the previous version gave me pretty noticeable pronation on the heel, especially at slower speeds. This has been completely fixed. I find the shoe really starts to sing too the further back you strike as a mid-foot and heel strike really activates that foam and the speedroll technology. Also have wide feet and the regular width works at a half size up for me. Just an amazing shoe.

      Hmm thats interesting (I also am on the bigger end for runners? 6' ~210). I have the speed 2 runshield and have my 5k,10k and half pb in them.. I love them when running a bit harder but at slower speeds I do find them a lil unstable. I keep them for harder sessions but it makes the warmup a bit wonky.. might have to try the 3s..

    • @MrJesseeckerlin
      @MrJesseeckerlin Рік тому +1

      @@Kevgti5 The wonkiness is totally gone. Wider platform and roomier toe box make it a genuine daily trainer, tempo shoe, and cheaper race day option. They kept the magic and democratized it, in my opinion.

    Congratulations on the new channel, Ben! I love your channels -- now two! I'm new to running and love the Speed 3s. I use them for everything other than races and training a few days prior to the race where I use the Endorphin Pro 3. I also use the Speed 3s for recovery runs. You mention in your review to buy something else for recover runs. Can you help me understand why you wouldn't use the Speed 3s for recovery runs?

    Options weren't great until the white/gum became available. Coming into summer here in Australia it looks great for both running and casual. Atm 3 shoes really stand out in my rotation and this is one of them. Maybe not as racy as the v2 but I'm really enjoying the more relaxed fit and vibe of the shoe. Only slight problem I had was some heel rubbing but that went away after about 4 runs.
    Thanks Ben for the review and keep up the good work 👍

Last year I got a pair of Brooks Adrenaline, recommendation of running shoe shop. 2 weeks ago I added the Novablast 3, very enjoyable! Previously, I would have said that weight is really important but the New Balance More v3 has made me reconsider. The comfort, the heel to toe transition, and the balance make it feel lighter than it is. So, yes, weight matters but only in the context of how the whole package fits together.

    Thanks for the informative review. I'm really on the fence about this shoe. I'm just getting back into serious running, and have achieved intermediate results in races, planning for a late 2023 or early 2024 marathon, wondering whether to include this shoe in my rotation as a race shoe. I won't be achieving any elite times, so the high performance platers just don't make sense to me, and I thought this would be an interesting introduction and help me achieve a solid intermediate result. I have Pegs and Blasts I use as dailies, plus a NB Rebel as a tempo shoe, should I try the ES3 as my race option? Or would I be better off just going with a high performance trainer like the Endorphin pro?

    I ran in the two former versions of this shoe and I think they were one of the best shoes I’ve ever used. I had no issues with the former versions. With this one, maybe it’s just me, but it seems Saucony made the arch of the foot area a little higher than the previous models. As I said before, maybe it’s just me, but it caused a little bit of irritation on the area of the arch of my feet, specially close to the heel area. It seems to me it is caused by the new plate shape. When Saucony said they would change the shape of the plate to make the shoe more stable, I thought “what are they talking about? This shoe is not unstable at all!”. Anyway, maybe some other people may have felt the same discomfort I felt, so I don’t say it ruined one of the best shoes I’ve ever used, but it is a little annoying, specially when we are talking about a shoe that almost everyone considered as almost perfect.

      I stockpiled the 2's, because they are just that good of a shoe, I have used them for everything on a daily basis! Having said that, they are indeed not that stable due the softness of the foam, especially under the heel. For this reason, I am now rotating in the Ride and Triumph for give my ankles a break. I have two pairs of Speed 2's in use and two new pairs in my closet, I should be good for another two years. I will pass on buying version 3 for now since a bigger arch is not what I want. One complaint about the Speed though, is that the Black Shadow colorway came out of the box with a much softer foam, than the red pair!

    I think they went a bit overboard on the extra width they added to the upper. I too have to nearly have both sides of the shoe touching eachother to get a decent lockdown. This was a non-issue in my Speed V1's. I also find that the heel cup on all versions of the Speeds are a bit too deep, so if I don't lockdown the heel I get minor rubbing in the left heel on long runs. It was bad enough that I eventually wore a hole in the left heel cup on my V1's after about 500km. Now, considering I only experience this on one foot, it's probably just me. But I have owned numerous brands and the Speeds are the only ones I have ever experienced this with. And I do notice that the V3's feel better at slower speeds than the original V1's.

    #Saucony #overpriced #2022 #season, it is what I feel, colourway awful this year, preferred Kinvara 12 colourway. Using Pro 3 as daily... They protect the legs, thats all I will say

    That is disappointing about the durability. For the Saucony Speed 1, I ran 1048 miles in it. For the colors, I don't like pink/rose color. The white looks great but eventually it will get so dirty.

      I very much agree here, adding that it's not very healthy for the midsole either - bending the shoe like that creates flex points that normally wouldn't be there.

    The uglier the shoe the better the discount. Seriously I'd wear a shoe even if they'd add a pig's tail to the heel for aerodynamics. I don't care as long as it runs smooth.
