Such a great haul! Skip and Loafers is one of my favorites. I highly recommend The Apothecary Diaries and Call of the Night for future pickups. :) For Manhwa I recommend Jungle Juice, Omnicent Readers Viewpoint and Unholy Blood (comes out in February).
About being intimidated, a lot of the times new releases are already ongoing or finished in Japan so I usually search for them on wiki or similar sites to see what I’m getting myself into (in volume count not plot). Started one that I later realized had 17 volumes out already and that’s a huge investment, so I learned from that. Fortunately I liked it. The benefit with older series is the possibility to read it all in one go. Once it catches up to the Japan release it can take months and years between each volume. But I’m guessing it’s nothing new to you since the wait for books can be the same.

I’ve just started looking up the number of volumes before grabbing them because some are just crazy and a MASSIVE investment! I’d love to read one piece one day, but the library will do when I decide to start that one until I know it’s an absolute love! Same with Yona of the Dawn! Two series I would love to read, but are sooo intimidating! 😬

spy x family, my happy marriage and blue lock are all great series. As a manga reader myself those big series are intimidating when thinking of starting to read them! I find slowly buying a volume every now and then is a good way to get it and if it has one box sets are great! this was a fun video I recommend reading my love mix-up!
I completely agree, building slowly is what I’m going to end up doing and I need to stop the mind set of have to collect them all right now because it’s just not going to happen! Thank you so much!! I was actually going to pick up either My Love Mix Up or My Love Story next, but with many recommendations for My Love Mix Up out there, that’s what I’ll go with!
I think a good starter series is Heaven's Design Team. If you've ever heard of Cells at Work or know anything about it, it's basically the same premise, except it teaches you about animals. However, instead of focusing on the inner workings of them, it's about a team of designers who work for God creating animals based on requests he submits. Each chapter focuses on anywhere from one to a few animals and explores why they may have been "designed" the way they were. For example, why birds lay eggs or why sloths are so slow. They even discuss mythical creatures occasionally. My favorite thing about reading it is trying to figure out what animal they're designing because sometimes it's not what you're expecting.
I never see this series included in hauls or manga bookshelf tours, but it's a good, easy series to read. It currently has 8 volumes, but is still ongoing as far as I know, with pretty slow releases of only a volume a year.

It makes me so happy to see new people getting into reading manga! As much as I'd love to collect everything I like, it's too expensive so I'm a huge library reader. Even though I've been reading manga for 2 years now, I only own a little under 30 vol😅. I'm lucky I live in a large city so I have many libraries near me with great selections. Either way, all the series you're getting right now are great starters! I haven't read many of them myself, though I definitely want to and have heard a lot about them from other mangatubers. There's just so much out there😅. A series I'd recommend is My Hero Academia! It's a very long series so it might be very intimidating to get into as it's currently at 36 volumes in english, but it's one of my favorites. I started it back in November after my library happened to have the whole thing just sitting on the shelf and I read all 35 vol. in less than a week lol. It's very easy to binge and I think the best thing about it is it's characters and artwork. Though, I will warn you that it is very heavy on action, so some of the fights can be hard to follow at times. Not exactly a fault of the Mangaka, but more so the medium. I'm currently reading some of the spinoffs while waiting for vol. 37 to release.
For a shorter manga, I'd recommend The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity. It's not physically out in English yet, though vol. 1 is coming out in June. Anyways, it's one of my absolute favorite romance manga! I really liked it since unlike a lot of others, the characters act and feel very human. Instead of drawing out a misunderstanding for 5 volumes, any drama gets resolved pretty quickly since the characters actually communicate! I've been burned by misunderstandings way too many times 😭. Anyways, it's super cute and fluffy. I read this online so I'm currently part way through vol. 11, or chapter 78. (There are I think 92? chapters out rn) I don't know if you enjoy reading digitally at all, but if you do this is a great option too as online is usually at least a few volumes ahead of the physicals and free :)

Sorry if this was a bit long😅 Reading has been my passion for as long as I can remember (It used to be books, but I'm more into manga, fanfiction and light novels now), so I get excited when someone discovers it❤
Oh I so appreciate longer comments!!🤩 My Hero Academia is one I’ve definitely heard of, but many friends watch the anime and I haven’t necessarily heard much about the manga, so now I may have to try that out! I have also heard someone else on mangatube talk about The Fragrant Flower Blooms and how excited they were about it. @@dayswiththedoyles of course! I own all 23 volumes of Demon Slayer and its 3 light novels. Aside from that, I just own some seperate volumes like vol. 36 of My Hero (I couldn't wait for the release to get to my library lol), vol. 1 of Haikyu! and vol. 0 of Toilet-bound Hanako-kun as well as its spin-off. (I love the series but I don't have the money at the moment for the full series) I'm currently planning to get all of My Hero in Japanese when the series finishes publishing in Japan. Its currently at vol. 39 there and the author said they were planning on 42-43 volumes, so I'm expecting to be able to get it within this next year. Basically, JP volumes are very cheap, so I can get the whole set for under ~$180 and I'm not much of a re-reader, so this works out :)
Demon slayer seems to be one so many love! I haven’t been pulled to it, but with all of the love, I may give it a go eventually!! And I had no idea about the price difference!
If you know you really like a series I’d recommend getting the box set
Yes, I need to start just trying out series from the library and seeing if they have a boxed set! I’m surprised they don’t have more boxed sets published than they do!
Great video I have read in Japanese the first volume of Spy Family Sign of Affection (which currently has an anime airing on Crunchyroll) tried to read the first volume of Skip and Loafer but didn’t finish it because it wasn’t something that I was interested in I recently got the first volume of Dinosaur Sanctuary for my niece (10) & nephew (7) (English) I have read the first three volumes of Perfect World I also read volume one of Villains are Destined to Die not really a big fan of isekai so I’m not continuing the series I die enjoy the first two volumes of The Savior’s Book Cafe in Another World though at some point I will get the final three volumes and I think that is all I have read that you have picked. I read all my manga in Japanese but things that aren’t originally in Japanese I do pick up in English.
My favorite series is Mo Dao Zu Shi/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (MDZS) I have consumed it in every format besides the audio drama in both Chinese and Japanese. The Untamed Drama Series (50 episodes l) is available on Netflix but the animation both Japanese and Chinese are not readily available though the Chinese animation is on TenCent’s UA-cam Channel with a channel membership (three seasons for the main series and 30 five minute episodes for Q). The novel series is complete at five volumes and the manhua/comic is ongoing with four volumes out currently with the fifth volume coming out next month. Great Haul and video
Thank you!! How did your niece and nephew like Dinosaur Sanctuary? My nephew is little and would love me to read it to him, but I’m nervous with the teen rating on the back. But I’ve heard many say it could be enjoyed by a young audience.
And I have heard of that series and was looking for the manhwa but wasn’t able to find it, but I also probably didn’t look hard enough at the store. But that is another series so many people love that I think I’ll give a try a little later on. I feel like for that one I hear many people mainly reading the light novels! I’ve also never watched anime so that is probably a reason I don’t hear much about it, I’d love to start one day soon though!
You got a lot of good series. Some of the ones you picked up that I love are Spy Family, My Happy Marriage, Skip & Loafer, A Sign of Affection. There's too many good ones. Hope you love them all. I'm currently going shelf by shelf of my Manga reading every volume I haven't gotten to yet before I buy anymore. I picked up 30 volumes of Yona of the Dawn in a sale and I'm only on 3 so I have a ways to go. Some of the series are so long they're intimidating. Like I'd love to read One Piece but they're up over 100 at this point and I just can't do it. LOL! have fun reading!
There are way too many good ones! I feel like I’m trying to play catch up with all of them now! And thats a good way to get them read. I need to give Yona of the Dawn a try, but that series also intimidates me for some reason. I would also LOVE to read One Piece but I can’t see myself reading a series that’s over 100 volumes… totally if I was reading it as it was coming out, but now… I don’t know about that one 🤣 & you as well!♥️

Other favorites of mine are Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Witch Hat Atelier, Call the Name of the Night, Natsume's Book of Friends, Flying Witch and Laid-Back Camp :)

Secret xxx is such a cute story and a standalone, Therapy game is connected due to a side character in secret xxx. It is his love story and that one is spicy and amazing. 7th time loop is also on of my favorite series and it is an interesting story showing what one character can do when she's had so long to live and learn. Skip and loafer is such a a sweet story of life as a high schooler. I would love to see a vlog of a sign of affection, that story is chefs kiss
My happy marriage is an amazing newer series that is gaining popularity for good reason. Mix of paranormal and Cinderella. Villains are destined to die is my absolute favorite isekai and is ridiculously addicting. Sorry for long posts

The remarried empress is on my tbr along with the business proposal. There are so many I want to read!! A series I haven't seen you pick up is Apothecary Diaries, I read the first volume and immediately ran out to get 2 and 3. Also for a bl rec I'd say Black or White from SuBlime, they are actors that new each other in HS and grew into a relationship and how they are trying to hide it. While they both get big in showbusiness, such amazing characters and the expressions and growth is amazing
