This just came in handy. Found my garage floor covered with pools of gas under my 77' fiat 124 last week. New tank just arrived. Always appreciate your videos.
These videos are a home run for new Fiat 124 Spider owners - it's incredibly helpful seeing how to do this stuff as opposed to just reading about it. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the videos. I've had my '73 for 20 years. I had to keep it on the road the old fashioned way, but I haven't done everything. Your videos fill in the gaps nicely.
do you know where the fuel pump is? and the fuel filter? I'm going nuts finding the fuel filter on spyder but idk if the previous owner got rid of the filter altogether. sounds crazy but I've looked all over
In the video about minute one the electric fuel pump is on the right. About 5:19 I am wiring it up. If your car has a mechanical fuel pump it is bolted to the engine block underneath the intake manifold. These cars have been worked on for 40 plus years, there is no telling where a previous owner may have moved them. Best way is to follow the fuel line from the tank all the way to the carb. Most likely spot is under the car near the drivers side rear tire where the soft line meets the hard line. It's the very beginning of this video. There would be some room under there for both. Next would be the engine bay from the firewall out to the carb.

Welcome, that big hose, remember to put your hose clamp on first.
@@ELDESTBuilds For sure! Dumb question... think I should spray some undercoat on the bottom of the new tank for shits and giggles?
It comes finished in black but couldn't hurt. Some sealer around the ridge where it fits into the trunk is in order.
@@ELDESTBuilds Thanks. I bought the foam insulation from AR. Debating just using silicone sealant.
I think silicone is better

Thanks, slowly moving my way to the front. Engine and transmission are coming out soon.

I woke up to puddles all over my garage, realized the tank emptied onto the floor. I have a couple motorcycles but found it was my 74 124.
Sounds scary. I hope you got it sorted
@@ELDESTBuilds It was the filler hose, the rubber turned to pasty mush and hole opened up.
@@Meekmanvideo 40+ year old rubber bits. Those should all be replaced before another leak breaks open.
