Are you aware that Guardians is actually specifically inspired by Farscape? James Gunn is apparently a fan of the series and decided to model the MCU version of Starlord and the Guardians after Crichton and the gang aboard Moya.
One of the things I've always loved about this show was how the relationships between the characters were often complicated and strained. It reminds me of the Wheel of Time series in that respect. Farscape had so many twists & turns in character development. Loved it!
There’s always a catch on Farscape! The look on Johns face when he sees Aeryn breaks my heart and when she almost starts crying.... All the feels as they say. When Scorpy walked in I was like Boom... The plot thickens. Always a surprise. That’s why I LOVE this show !!
My sister and I have a deep love of sci-fi. But the brash and sometimes genuinely dick-headed John Crichton just didn't work for her as a leading man. I tried to explain how amazing the story was and, yes, each character's outstanding qualities are both assets and liabilities-- just as it is in real life. So many magnificent moments, it was a top-to-bottom wonderful show.
I really loved this show. It was so original and a far cry from the tech oriented Star Trek and magic of Star Wars. It was just unique. Unfortunately as the decades passed, the actors moved on and the "feeling" passed. Thankfully, there is The Expanse.
@@anonymousaccordionist3326 If only they had merged it with Stargate, where Moya and crew could encounter planet with a gate, thus allowing the Farscape crew to be merged into Stargate properly. Not the actors moving over as new different characters.

I remember once walking through the Sony Playstation Store in downtown San Francisco, my hometown. They had a little SyFy store (yes, this was a LOOONG time ago) where they had the box set for season 1 of this series. I walked by and saw the display tv showing one of the episodes... I saw Rygel and instantly thought... "what a stupid looking show". HOLY CRAP WAS I WRONG. OMG WHAT A FOOL I WAS. OH GOODNESS!!! I don't even remember the first time I saw the show, but I remembered watching a few episodes and was a little pissed at myself for just walking by it so many years before.
im not sorry to say, i would love to see the crew together, picking up with their son as a young adult, learning different stuff from all members of the crew. because they obviously know how to survive. give them a problem, and its up to young D'Argo to use those skills and begin to break the barrier between being a man and just being old enough to call himself one. I would even enjoy seeing scorpious return in a more of a herald of things to come, and to reach out and send vital technical info to earth, and the news that John has survived. but tell them to not send messages out looking for them or it could put the whole planet at risk.

It was bad IMO.The show started going down hill when Scorpius(I think his name is) was in Creightons head for more then 2 episodes. It was like they could not figure out where they wanted to take the story.
4th season wasn't horrible, but it did have some iffy episodes. I do love the ones where they finally visit Earth and Rygel is like a crackhead looking for a sugar fix. "How frelling illegal is this dren???" lol
Iirc the Eidolons (in the movie) explained they picked humans long ago to make a race of "peacekeepers", a race no one knew so no one hated. Ofc time turned these ancient humans into space nazis (and gave them some evolutive differences) so I guess that wasn't a perfect plan.
They are humans, technically. Like Hugh indicated, the Eidolons needed a neutral peacekeeping race, so they visited Earth tens of thousands of years ago and took humans from there and genetically modified them/evolved them. So modified humans became the first Peacekeepers. The Eidolons would negotiate peace and the Peacekeepers would help keep the peace. Then after the Eidelons vanished, the Peacekeepers continued to keep the peace, but without the Eidolons to help act as super diplomats, the Peacekeepers became more militaristic in their methods.
Fear and pain are the most powerful motivators around. Military technology particularly in wartime gets a lot of funding so a more agressive and reactive species would prob win a space race. It was the cold war that got us to the moon and the lesser threats afterwards that cut the budget and kept us away. If the Cold war had continued we'd probably have colonised Mars by now.
A select few members of a species having the knowledge to be able to give their species the ability to traverse space does not preclude said species from having emotional and rash members.
17 years and still looking as fresh as it aired. A timeless masterpiece.
Guardians of the Galaxy got nothing on this show.
