Dear Dani I sat here on Christmas day and watched your video, crying the whole time it was such a reminder of my Son Jed. He loved Sweden and worked up north farming and dog sledding for a couple. We lost him in Ukraine on 24/8/22, he went there to help the people of Ukraine and was a combat medic, he was 27. The photos he took in Sweden were magical. Thank you for your beautiful work.

This approach ensures that they can salvage your data, particularly in the worst-case scenario where a platter swap becomes necessary. This is when heads, motherboards, and the mechanical structure of the drive are damaged. You should make another effort to save your pictures. Good luck. Raid is certainly a good idea, but it doesn't save you from a fire or theft. Then you need raids at more than one location. A so-called distributed, high availability storage. This will automatically or semi-automatically if you prefer, make sure your data is the same at all places. This video is such a gift; a beautiful, soul warming holiday card. The videography, including the drone footage, is wonderful. Thank you! I managed to muddle through my own NAS set-up a year or so ago, also using QNAP and WD equipment. I found the channel, NAS Compares, invaluable. Just remember that NAS constitutes one backup (or not a backup if your data is not also on your computer) so, ideally, you should have two more, including one copy off-site. My step/extra-grandmother used to race sled dogs and she also competed in sled racing with her dogs and even won the Swedish championship once.
And many of the dogs she bred and trained both won and took 2nd and 3rd place several times.
This all happened before my dad met my stepmom and her.
But the stories she used to tell us.
And all the dogs she had.
I miss her, she was an awesome woman, loved nature and animals. tough as nails and she was more of a man than any man I ever knew.
Lets just say, you didn't want to be on her bad side that is one thing for sure.
She knew how to survive and taught me everything I need to know to survive in the wild without internet or any modern things.
She also taught me to respect animals and to earn their trust.
To bad that she could not beat cancer, but she gave it a hell of a fight.

the entire video was wonderful but the bit where there was no music, listening to those bullfinches cracking the nuts was so incredibly peaceful and calming
My family is involved with horses and just like the dogs they yearn to run, ride, pull, even show off. A lot of people do not know how happy this makes them. Regarding squirrels I’ve studied some on the American Grey and learned that 40% do not make it through each Winter in the woodlands. Obviously the ones we feed all winter stand a better chance but we have Eagles and Hawks here on the Southern WIsconsin area. The other day an Eagle was gliding in tight circles over our neighbors property that has many squirrel nests in the tree tops and screeching. I believe it was trying to get a squirrel to stir from a nest. I even video taped it. Had never seen an Eagle do that before.
Holy cow, the drone footage of the dogsledding is amazingly beautiful.
Loved the aerial dog sled footage, with the a great view of the swedish winter wonder land. Also loved the little transition you did between the fluttering of the birds at the new birdfeeder and the sound of you walking in the snow :-)

It always amazes me how many people say that it's cruel to make huskies and malamutes run, coincidentally, it's always the same people who have never been on a sled or seen them when they run, they get so excited before a journey or a race and they're always so contented afterwards.... It's what they do, and they love it 😁🥰🦌

Hi. It is not Chipmunks, it's squirrels (red Squirrel). No Chipmunks in Scandinavia.
We haven't had any decent snow where I am for a couple of years now. It's a bit harder than normal when there's snow, but it's worth it for the relaxing winter season especially with the modern conveniences largely negating the difficulties of snow and cold. Hope I can make the vacation out to the Nordics someday. Thanks for sharing the beautiful and calming scenery.

Merry Christmas Dani. I spent Christmas eve watching several of your videos. They are so relatable as I love animals so much too. I also have a few tree squirrel friends in my back yard as well as crows and a wild cat that adopted me. I live alone and my animal friends help to keep me company and definitely make me smile. I've been friends with Mama Nuts the tree squirrel for over a year now and have watched her have 3 litters of babies. (she is an excellent mother) Most people don't believe me when I tell them she lets me pet her until I show them the video of her enjoying a butt rub as she munches on a peanut. 12/24/23 Greetings from Columbus, Ohio, USA. Its Christmas Eve. We don't get much or any snow, until February. Today it was unusually warm, at 56 degrees F. Forecasted to be 60 degrees, in a couple of days, for a day, then dropping back down to the 40s. I love your videos! In my part of Ohio, we don't have same type squirrels, as you do. Ours have smaller ears, and they are not bushy.
Dog-sledding (in Lapland) was one of the best experiences of my life... once the dogs get going, it is so relaxing, all you hear is the sound of the sled gliding over the snow !

Thanks for another great video! About your NAS - I totally agree that a NAS (or DAS) set up with (the right) RAID will give you a much better protection against data loss. There are still some possible problems though like accidently deleting files and there also are limits to what can fail before a RAID system will give up recovering. Then there are major accidents like it getting stolen or a fire. It's also not exactly travel friendly. IMO a RAID will solve most problems but using a single or two large drives (up to 22TB at the moment) to back up the RAID will add another layer of security. Of course, everyone has to determine for themselves what's "secure enough", but personally I try to have my data on at least two different external drives even if one is a DAS or NAS. Cloud storage is another option, but difficult with large data sets.
