I can almost hear coyboy boots shuffling across a tavern floor in time to this old song. Love these old honkey tonk songs. Nothing can compare to those days.

Ruth Boykin: Not much! ( Google Julie London on Amce7946 ch on FLY ME TO THE MOON & YOU AND THE NIGHT AND THE MUSIC, Gordon MacRae on SOME ENCHANTED EVENING, Sorrowfulflower ch, & Serenade from THE STUDENT PRINCE on Romi M. Panlilio, Don Robertson on THE HAPPY WHISTLER, OldiesAl ch) Bob Houston, EVERY SO OFTEN on Croonr1 ch)
no listing for Bob Houston EVERY SO OFTEN..but is one for that song by Ray Kellogg...beautiful! Going to bed now, Milton. good night! Catch the rest tomorrow.
This is a recording so melancholy that I can easily imagine it playing on the jukebox in the tarvern known as "Three Teardrops" right next to the "Heartbreak Hotel" that Jim Reeves referenced in his recording of "Blue Side of Lonesome," where "The floor has a carpet of sorrow, And no one can dance in the aisle. And they say someone broke the bar mirror, with only the ghost of a smile." Carl Smith was the undisputed king of songs that required a powerful, soaring, plaintive voice with a soul-stirring vibrato and heart- warming tone to turn them into inimitable and unforgetable classics.
Shakespeare once referred to jealousy as "that green-eyed monster!" This tortured affair is certainly exemplary of that famous line. (I left a longer comment under my actual name, Milton Moore, in a comment several years ago that can be found by scrolling down.) This recording is certainly one of the best that Carl Smith ever made.
If we only had these days back again. Real music like it should be.
Yyyyy
no body can beat this mans voice

Johnny Brown ch.)
Did as you asked..Beautiful, love Brook Benton's beautiful voice, went on a short binge. until I got to my favorite! Thanks for the memories, MMM!
The portion from 1:24 to 2:10 - where the violins ever so softly support the lyrics - makes this recording a "10". I appreciate your comments.
