- Find out more about Julian Alvarez’s early life and career as our new striker welcomes us into his family home in Argentina.
The forward, who officially joined City in January, arrived in Manchester earlier this month after spending the second half of last season on loan at River Plate.
Before making the move to England, the 22-year-old opened the doors of his home to our cameras so we could find out how he became the man and player he is today.
We hear from his mother and father, Mariana and Gustavo, and brothers Rafael and Augustin who regale us with tales of trials with Real Madrid and the attributes which earned him the nickname ‘Spider’.

Cómo argentino, y más aún como fanático de River Plate, siento muchísimo orgullo por Julián. Les aseguro que no va a defraudar, tiene muchísimo potencial. Tiene la técnica europea, en conjunto con la garra y la habilidad sudamericana. Además, fue entrenado por dos de los mejores 3 técnicos del mundo actualmente (Gallardo y Guardiola). Y otro dato interesante, todos las primeras copas que jugó, las ganó (libertadores, copa argentina, copa América, liga argentina). Se viene la champions para el City?

@@skywalker2230 Creo que viste la foto de una prueba en Boca como la tuvo en el Madrid. Por lo que veo hay varias fotos de muy chiquito con la de River. Igualmente puede haber casos como Cagna, Bianchi, Pavon que eran hinchas del clásico rival y el profesionalismo lo cambia todo. O acaso Maradona no era de Independiente. O el Pipi Romagnoli es de Hiracan. O la chancha Mazzoni es de Racing. Creo que nosotros no lo entendemos del todo porque estamos del lado del hincha. Ahora cuando desde muy chico estás intentando ser jugador, ese sentimiento se termina dejando de lado.
