The concert became a thing of legend. Only 24 hours earlier civil rights activist Dr Martin Luther King had been assassinated resulting in widespread violence across the United States. Show Times JAMES BROWN
Question: Who's better than James Brown? Answer: Nobody!
I'll get shot......but Jackie Wilson would give James Brown a "RUN FOR THE MONEY"....I've seen both back in the 60's nobody and I mean nobody could follow them ...they had to "close the show"
when you left their shows you were exhausted !!!
Yeah no one did it better than James Brown.
Oh its you😂 mister jb😂 I'm jesuscaresabou... ahhh u know😂
Nobody 😎✅🏆

…. even the mic is dancing!….the whole stage is on the same vibration!
You are correct :)
u😮😢
O@@motownfan3😮
Soul brother number 1,2,3 thru 60 right here! He had his act together that night! Today’s entertainment can never match this excellence right here.
That's Why They Called Him The Hardest Working Man In Show Business!,, Right
My mind gets blown every time I think about how he put this whole
thing together from scratch. A pure genius.
He didn't. He was always going to play there. Kevin Wite and Tom Atkins had the idea of televising it to keep the peopke off the streets. Theyhad to pay Brown an extra $60,000 but they were the geniuses, notbrown. He just did what he was going to be paid to do anyway.
@@venus6212 You must know nothing about Brown then. Being uneducated must hurt.
@@venus6212Is it in any way possible that you didn't understand the core meaning of the comment?
@@FINKFINK100 No, the comment suggests Brown put this whole thing together from scratch. he didn't. Kevin White and Tom Atkins put it together. And they had to pay Brown extra for it. Watch Foul Quince's brilliant video on the topic.
@@venus6212 Who said they were talking about promotion, they were talking about the music and performance
Brother James saved alot of Lives that night
Yes he did nobody else that could have pulled that off
To charlatan "entertainers" calling themselves "Icons", sit down, listen, take notes, then come see me.

Recording session Jabo played the drums...clyde was great as was Jb's other drummers..Clyde got recognition for funky drummer break..but his work on Session I got the feelin is best..peace
His band was No Joke❤❤❤❤❤
I want to get this track programmed onto a memory chip and surgically inserted in my brain so that I can have this funk running through my brain forever.
same
You couldn't stand it. Your nervous system would overload & shut down & your brain's receptors would shortcurcuit & fry!🍳
23 mins of the hardest funk ever recorded 🔥🔥
This is otherworldly. He's on another planet here
YESSSSS!!¡!
Straight 🔥 that base holds everything together with a straight raw lick!! Get it Together. The record version is like a straight jam session. But this live version is friggin' bananas! The is responsible for like 3 genres of music. Mt. Rushmore
🔥 🔥 🎆
Unbelievable! In my opinion, if it wasn’t for JB, Prince, Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz wouldn’t be. They all paid homage to James Brown. Have to respect them for that. Also, Jimi Hendrix and Bootsy Collins came out of the JB band.
He puts his stamp on ' there was a time ' for me.
That was/is my favorite James Brown song......
I saw him sing that song back in '68......he had the entire crowd on their feet........the house was rocking that night and when we left the building we were in the parking lot trying to do "The James Brown" DANCE !!!!
THE G.O.A.T CASE CLOSED.
So glad my mom introduced me to the music she grew up on🎉🎉🎉
I'm 16 and I love this music. Old is gold 👴🏿🧓🏿🧑🏿💲💲💲
More funk than you can shake a stick at....wat you you said...? The Boss fo sho!!
All my cells are moving inside, can u imagine the ones watching live? 😊
Lucky people. I was born too late! Lol
1:55 James busts Clyde for playing too fast.

🎶⭐️The legend forever James Brown 🎶⭐️

AMAZING!!!
Cooking
That camel walk is sick!!!!
Pure FUNK BLISS!!!!!
He did a lot of things marketing wise and showmanship wise that had never been done before. The hype men on stage, etc. Elvis did some of that in the 70's but I think James Brown may have done it first. The nicknames and monikers "godfather of soul", "hardest working man in show business".
YAHWEH JEHOVAH GOD IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR IS FIRST AND FOREMOST, FATHER, SON, HOLY SPIRIT 🙏
The night after Dr. King was killed. Called upon to cool down the people. Legendary.
Oh, yeah, I forgot something. The band is skin tight. Real tight Watch👑🌹🎶❤️🫡🫠
Miss you JB
JB squad, I have a James Brown type of hairstyle but it's a puffy and curly afro that has loosened curls but not straight
In my Beyonce voice Bow Down B%@*% for the Original King James!
what about the sound quality? and why throw away the concert in pieces? This concert was posted on UA-cam a long time ago and the sound is much better quality
You must be thinking of another show. This is the highest quality version of this show as far as I know
I think that he probably heavely influenced a very important figure in American Hard Rock !!
Simply the best to do it, Mr James Brown and the JB's, this is still God's band.
in MY book he's The G O A T...
MINE TOO! NO DOUBT!!!
Damn the Jimmy Nolen yall
8:15 “There Was A Time”
"You know I gotcha." He caught that bum note on the change to 'Got that Feeling' and was letting the sax played know it. He didn't miss a trick.
The change was to "There Was A Time" not "I Got The Feelin'"
Su Majestad insuperable por los siglos de los siglos gracias Mr James Brown por traer felicidad al mundo

NO IT WAS ARTHUR CONLEY. SWEET SOUL MUSIC
GFOS! No one did it better!
No one ever will!
Corner Stone, National Treasure and the Godfather of Soul. Camera man did not have camera on him enough at right time so we missed some of those unduplicated moves.
The man had total control of his band and his body was full of rhythm, he was top of his game. No one else can come close to his feeling of his music talent
That cat can move
Highly overrated...
... just kidding. He's the GOAT
YOU BETTA BE KIDDING! LOL.
How wonderful it is wonderful wonderful wonderful👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
More love for Jimmy Nolen. He is incredible here.
Oh, imagine if this concert was in *COLOR!!!* (but WGBH didn’t have time to rent out a color mobile production truck from New York even on short notice, so they wheeled in their black-and-white unit)
You know I'm not doubting what you're saying but PBS was originally called "National Educational Television", may have been a little bit slower getting into color compared to commercial TV. The French Chef, Julia Child's 1st series beginning in 1963, didn't go color till 1970. However, she also ceased production of it in 66 and who knows if TFC may have gone into color before 70. Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood debuted in 68, same 1st season B&W.
You out did me this time I enjoyed every minute of Brown James it was very excellent 👌👍💯
Soul Personified
Looking at 18:40 Mr. Brown sees a Soul Brother dancing and acknowledged him. Mr. Brown didn't miss a beat.
Continue to rest in Heavenly Peace ✌️❤
Name a harder, tighter, more on point backing band than this......🦗🦗🦗🦗
And JB kept them that way thru numerous interchangeable muscians over the years.
This definitely had to be a hard performance for him....seeing that this was the day after Dr. King passed away.🙏🏿✨
😣
@@raymondmorton0
he gave a very moving speech before the show, as did Mayor White.
I was just 6...
He’s an icon no 1 he gat all he could to be the best performer ever
Maceo!
I never heard get it together before. I was always more interested in the James Brown of the 1970s. Are there other live versions of this song because it is really funky.
There's another at the Apollo from the month previous but it's labeled as "There Was A Time" for some reason. As far as I know there are no other recorded performances of the song unfortunately.
The Apollo Vol 2 version is fantastic, the sound quality is great. On the deluxe cd the medley is correctly listed as Let Yourself Go ,There Was A Time, I Feel Alright.
James Brown The famous Flames Featuring Macio Parker❤
The James Brown in the 60s was untouchable the king of funk and soul!!!
The early 70s James Brown was also untouchable!
Man that Get it Together is one of the nastiest funk song ever. The live version is incredible. 4 times? 4 Times!! Clyde Stubblefield's stick speed is ridiculous. Up there with the heart and soul of the group Chicago. The original drummer.
Great Funk Music‼️Great JB‼️
Thank you so much for sharing this video and I truly love 😍 James Brown forever 🥰😊🤩💝💖❤️🖤💯💯💯💯💯💯
I believe the Prince beat to "Sexy MF" came from this song.
James was riding lightening and the lightening was THE JAMES BROWN BAND !!!!!! The hurricane inside the lightening is JAMES !!! Ladies and gentlemen…. You are witnessing….
A FUNK STORM !!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG !!!!!!!!
Tout simplement le meilleur, James Brown The Best
Incroyable Concert juste après la mort de Martin Luther King , Époustouflant de professionnalisme 👍

Top band
YESSSSS!!!!!
Griot
5:21 Who is the bass player? It's the white guy to the left of the girl dancer.
Did some research. I believe it's Tim Drummond. Looks like he's playing a Vox bass, model Cougar or Escort.
Left the band after the Vietnam trip due to catching hepatitis ( I think)
TIM DRUMMOND.
Oh that's one of favorite one by James Brown there was a time when I used to dance🎉❤ but my but my but my real favorite one say it loud I'm Black and I'm proud❤ that is very very strong message that went over a lot of our heads🎉
I totally understand...I'm pretty thrilled with being White myself...but this song is pure AF...
Make.it.Funky..JB❤❤❤❤

19:25 Favorite Part!
Man!!!!!!A GotDamn Jam Session ❤❤❤❤❤.
This is a serious jam.
Bomb funk vibe
19:15 I Got The Feelin'
6:55 Maceo solo is so tasty!
To put this performance in context, it was the night after the assassination of Martin Luther King. Boston officials worked with JB to give this performance in an attempt to quell the anger in the community and prevent civil unrest. If I remember correctly, it worked. That is why the performance was recorded and the quality is so poor. It was a last minute decision and there wasn’t enough time to prepare.
Funkadelic
Genius.
Incrível, em memória.
Böyle iyi müzik icra eden Blues cu klmadı.
Intro far too long...baritone sax is in there
#1 forever
👍
❤JB❤

Bête de scene. Purely !
What year it was?
1968
This concert was done the day after Dr. Martin Luther King was killed in 1968. The concert was to be cancelled but the mayor and James told the governor to keep the concert going and because of this Boston did not riot. This was James Brown dedication to Dr. King...
