I've put nearly 900klm on my 1080 v11 though they are starting to feel a bit dead in the forefoot so will be retrieving them. Probably my favourite daily training of all time. I will probably get another pair of V11s as there are some good discounts available and I'll leave the v12 till they reduce the price.
I got my 1080v12 pair this week and run today first easy 8km with them. I also have go to half size down. They feel really comfort and lockdown is great. Not as soft like Rebel v2 and little bit heavy. They also run quite hot even its spring here. Easy day shoes for me. I got from 30% discount so the price is acceptaple. Nice looking shoe.
Thanks for the review Seth….I have the v12’s and I had to go 1/2 a size down. I even compared my uk size 9 v11’s with the same size v12 and the v12’s are clearly bigger. A lot of people who got the v12 also shared the same. I’m suprised you were happy with TTS ? I believe NB got the sizing wrong which would then mean that the weight might not be an issue as 1/2 down would be lighter
Right, i was tripping when he said it was true to size. Almost 99% of people say to get 1/2 size smaller. I just had to get my normal size 11 wide in them. And i can confirm, it runs 1/2 to big. So just sent them back and ordered a size 10.5 wide. And i normally like a little toe length longer. Like half a finger width. But the size 11’s where like a full finger width and then a little more. So its weird how NB seem to need to hire people who have more experience with making shoes the legit uniformed actual true to size. Because i always buy a size 11 in Nikes and Asics and never had to buy a half size up or down. So NB definitely have some more work to do to make the sizes correct to the normal basic sizing standards that the major shoe makers have. ✌️
have 1080v11 with about 400 miles and I am a heavy weight runner (230lbs). The feel of the midsole is still fairly nice but definitely starting to bottom out quick during my runs. Pretty damn good for EVA foam compared to my Hoka's that seem to die out very quickly (less than 200 miles for my weight).
Ought to give the Nike React Miler a shot. React from my experience has been the most durable foam there is. The TPU foams like Boost do well over the long run as well but TPE in react is so darn durable. I had the Peg Turbo which is half react and I comfortably got 400mi in them, then I saw an all black pair and retired them early. I imagine that since the Miler is solid react you could comfortably get 500-600mi out of them no issue whatsoever.
liked the fit and looks of my 1080's but once I got above 30 miles / week, I just couldn't keep using them as a Daily Trainer. Hoped they would be an every day shoe, but had to get a new pair of Cliftons on sale to get in those everyday miles.
I know this doesn’t really answer the question Seth but I met Abdi Abdirahman yesterday at the Cooper River Bridge Run 10k and it completely made my day! Said I didn’t care what happened after that still ended up PRing the event. I guess I could’ve asked him for Galen Rupps number, he’s kinda fictional isn’t he as his performances in the past are unreal? Ha!
I work in a shoe store in Australia. Can't really blame NB for the price on this one. Many shoes have bumped up $10 recently. Inflation is here and it's not slowing down,
My pair of these arrived yesterday so I was kind of dreading your review in case it was really bad. I'm glad your comments on performance are positive. Seems like mostly the weight and cost are dragging it down. I got mine for a discount and will have to endure the weight as there aren't many shoes I can buy in a wide version to accommodate my neanderthal feet.
Question, my understanding was the 880 was NBs daily trainer and the 1080 was the max cushion (like the triumph is to the ride) but it seems the former is less popular now and more are going for the 1080 as an all purpose daily?
I really liked 8mm drop combined with the rocker on the v10's but the lockdown in the heel wasn't great and I never felt any energy return. The foam was also fairly firm. But I'm 185lbs so maybe you feel the energy return more if you're lighter and get a better lockdown. Looks like there a lot of great updates this year so a lot to choose from.
I just got 2 pairs of the 1080's and I completely agree with you. There is zero energy return and feel fairly firm underfoot. It's weird to me the all youtuber praised the shoes as much as they did. I much prefer the Ultraboost 22's I had before these. Wish I hadn't been hasty in throwing out the boxes so I could have returned the second pair.
Suggestions for a long run shoe for lightweight and decent cushion in the forefoot? Currently running in magicspeed but the forefoot gets a bit brutal for me over 30km… thank you!
1:35 that's actually true, years ago on a group ride, we were at a light stopped, and there was a Hybrid next to us, and when he went on the green light, you could not hear it. There was no tissue is there anything with the right or anything, just making that observation of how quiet they are on the one time I've encountered one that I know of on a ride.
I've been running a lot in the sister shoe of the 1080's...(the Hierro Freshfoam x V6 ) Cost me $140 US. You gave them a better overall score than the 1080's I believe the only differnece being the outsoles(trail) and the price? I'm thinking I may need to get a different shoe for the road now?
"Fit: true to size" Hmmmm, interesting. As per most other reviews of this shoe (ie. NOT Seth's), I've found the V12 to be bigger than the V11. I had to go down half a size for the V12 to fit properly, but I've also heard others stay with their V11 size but change from Standard to Narrow fit, again because the V12 felt "bigger". I've had to take half a size down with the Hierro V7 too than I would with most other NB shoes... A change in the NB manufacturing process maybe?...
Enjoy your reviews 👍 maybe too hard to say, but, if u had to pick one, non-race day shoe, between the 1080 v12 or saucony speed 2, what would u choose in your professional opinion?
Going in to buy a new daily trainer today. Been using the 880 v11, took it to 450 miles. I’m 145 pounds and will only use the shoe for daily mileage and long runs. Any recommendations?
I used to love the 1080, I had 2 pairs of v10s but with time I find myself looking to firmer midsoles like my Ride 14s as daily trainers, ive even had to relegate my Bondi's to just walking around shoes when I used to love them for easy days.
@@leonchristensen1765 That's possible, maybe its because I'm a bit heavier, hovering aroung 200lbs now and well above previously, maybe I was just sinking into them more

Qd: not sure why I thought of this but maybe Curious George 😂. I have gone through 3 different pairs of the 1080 v10, having the first pair go over 500 miles, then the second pair go over 800. And I just checked yesterday, and the third that I currently train in has over 900 miles! In all the shoes I haven’t felt that they are worn down at all, I have been very pleased with the v10s! Seth, how would you compare these v12s to the v10s?
To me this seems like almost a different shoe, more similar to the More v3 than the 1080v11. Even though both are daily trainers, last year's was the type of daily trainer I'd pull if I wanted to pick up the pace at some point. This one seems like it'll be more geared to easy paces given the increase in stack, weight, and overall comfort of the shoe.
QOD: Inspector Gadget! How does he do all of that crazy stuff? Is it it really a convenient accident when he saves the day, or is he just super humble? I think he’s playing mind games.
Seth is becoming a bit of a sneaker snob. For instance, if you watch his video of the Pegasus 37's, He talks about them as though they are some of the greatest running shoes ever made. If you watch his review of the Pegasus 38s he trashes them as though they are somehow worse? Same with a lot of his more recent videos.
Well said on the EV silent dangers to runners and cyclists. Almost ran out in front of one last week because--- you guessed it I didn't think there was anything behind me! Nice shoes these 1080's but heavy.
Unfortunately it really depends on the model. Based on my experience (9 in ASICS and most shoes, 8.5 in Hoka) I wouldn’t size up since many reviews and commenters find this particular new 1080 to run long. However, the NB Rebel2 ran short and most people (including myself) had to go up 1/2 size. Best thing to do is go into a store and try it on if you can. Martha
Real talk, i concur, NB sizing is just crazy out of control. Like i said before, in the 1080v12 i had to go down 1/2 a size to fit properly. I wear a size 11 in Asics, so i had to get a 10.5 in the 1080v12. That being said, then in the NB 880v12 i had to go up a size to 11.5 to fit me. I bought size 11 in the 880v12 and it fit me, but fit like a glove. And all my other size 11 shoes have a little more length to fit when your feet swell up. But i had to go with 11.5 to get that normal swelling feet space. Bottomline though, what i have learned is the only true way to get the right fit is to try it on. And like me. Theres no NB stores around. So i have to buy and try online. And i always have to go through the hassle of sending shoes back to get the correct size. Im the kind of guy that listens to what others say about sizing. But i know at the end of the day i have to try the shoe on for myself and see if it fits or not. And i have had experience when people say go down 1/2 a size and they was wrong. So even though i hate the hassle of returning shoes. I do it a lot with NB when i order them online. I have bought and returned like 4 pairs of NB shoes in order to get the right size. ✌️
NB shoes. My last pair were "training shoes" (as in cross-training). NB doesn't do enough with their shoes to separate them from each model. Too similar. e.g. Rebel vs 1080 ummm.....from a performance/Shoe TECH point of view...Seems to me NB shoes are more of a "lifestyle shoe" company....which is a HUGE market segment. NB Rebel2 works great for me as a recovery shoe. It’s slipper-like soft but has plenty of bounce/energy return. I wouldn’t use it for runs over about 10 mi, but if we’re talking recovery, that’s not relevant. Martha
Great point regarding electric vehicles. I understand that you may not be able to say everything you want to say on your channel, in order to not alienate your viewers. Electric vehicles make much less noise, and some make almost no noise in comparison to combustion engine vehicles. This can be a safety issue for runners and cyclists. (It's also an issue for animals, as they don't hear the vehicles coming, etc). Not against electric vehicles in general, just wanted to respond to the great point you made at the start of this video. Late reply here but bsolutely agree. I’m pretty sure he weighs in under 60kg by the way so that might be why the weight of a daily trainer is so important to him. Also, the fact that he wants less rubber on a daily trainer that most runners need to last close to hopefully 1000 km. He doesn’t run his shoes that long

Late reply here but bsolutely agree. I’m pretty sure he weighs in under 60kg by the way so that might be why the weight of a daily trainer is so important to him. Also, the fact that he wants less rubber on a daily trainer that most runners need to last close to hopefully 1000 km. He doesn’t run his shoes that long
Fred Flintstone or Yogi bear.
1080 is the best
Ev's quiet mostly because can't find charging stations.
I always liked the dwarves from Lord of the Rings for the same reasons.

These gave me plantar fasciitis… anyone else?
Darn, sorry to hear that, hopefully others have not suffered the same outcome, PF is no joke.
@@SethJamesDeMoor Seth thank you for replying!! I've been watching your videos (and a few others) and seen a podiatrist so getting it sorted. I hope you're recovering well from your injury; always so refreshing and motivating to see you being genuinely positive when you're injured - thank you.
my mom recently told me she has plantar fasciitis, so i was looking for shoes to get her & these were a pair that i was maybe looking into getting. however, since you got PF from these, are there other shoes that you could recommend instead?
thanks!

Hi sir,
I am a student and I watch your video last 1 year. Sir I am very poor and I don't afford a good running shoe . Sir please give me your used shoes. I live in India & my dream is join defence forces but I have no shoe. So please help me.
Love you sir from India 🙏.
Saar you don't need shoes for getting into defence forces just use any shoe the decathlon one costs 700 you can buy that. Stop begging on UA-cam. Lots of people have joined army running barefoot so stop scamming and start running.
Sir🤣.... Stop it🤣
