This shoe is amazing for people who have Neuropathy or issues with their feet. Expensive but when you are dealing with pain on a daily basis this shoe helps. I am about to purchase my second pair. First pair lasted me about 8 months running 3-5 miles a day. Shoe is true to size 13 for me. With Neuropathy having a good fitting shoe with a toe box that does not constrict your toes this shoe fits the bill perfectly.

As a diabetic I suffer sometimes from Neuropathy. Do you recommend the wide version vs the standard?

    • @genmysters
      @genmysters Рік тому +1

@@bassclef283 So the toe box on this is quite large to begin with. I got a standard width and I have big feet size 13 plenty of room. I need large toe box because my neuropathy bothers me in tight shoes. If you normally get a wide you can try it. I just didn't need them in these shoes.

Nice review like always! I did have to go a size down and it worked out for me. I’m a 10.5 and went 10. I do have a wider foot but went standard and it feels great. Almost went with the wide but glad I held off. I have about 50miles in mine right now. It has been good for a nice slow and go Recovery option for sure.

@@GSUnit21 from the reviews that I have watched outside of this one. Most have said to go 1/2 size down. I think if I would have stayed true to size or went up a size they would have had to much room in them since this shire already has some give to the upper. Hope that helped some.

I think it's perfect for people with truly wide feet from end to end. As for me, I need a wide toebox but snug heel which makes the 1080 a little too much shoe for me. It's still solid with a bit of lacing trickery but I will have to keep searching for my perfect shoe. Considering the Gel-Nimbus or Cumulus 24.

Great content as usual. I downsize half a size and it’s perfect for me. Looking back I think the combination of 880 and More (and another speed shoe) would be a great combination that covers pretty much all of the runs. Still I enjoyed the 1080v12 very much.

It’s a very dull shoe, the foam feels dead, but it does an excellent job of absorbing impact, and that’s the best thing it has going for. For 160, it's a lot considering if you pay a little more, you can get the nike invincible 3. But, like I said, it’s very good at absorbing impact, so for heavier people, it’s actually protective like no other shoe.

I have a pair of this as a rotation to Hoka Clifton. I feel very comfortable with this, but I feel it too plush. I need plush but also a right amount of firmness like Clifton. But 1080 midsole is too plush, but it is still OK.
It's good for long walk and recovery. The upper is fantastically comfortable to adapt your foot shape.

I loved New Balance Beracon V2 and I ran ~700km in them, after that I got Fresh Foam More V3 and that started giving me achillies issues around the insertion point with the heel bone, so I ended up buying the 1080 v11 and although that was better but it would still give me the same issue but only at the end of the long runs, At the same time I had no issues in Hoka Cliftons and Asics Glide Ride. I have given up on New Balance for now, there is something wrong with the the way they design their sole especially around the heel area. (I am not a heel striker, mostly midfoot and front foot and occasionally on the heels during long runs)

Great review! You tend to supinate quite a bit, at least early in your ground contact, so I wouldn't expect too many people to have the same wear issues. Still, it's an area NB could have easily covered. We've been downsizing everyone so far in this shoe, and if there were enough stock for me to take a pair, I would also. NB is so inconsistent in the sizing both between versions and across models. The 880 we size up!

    Great video, man. Always helpful.
So both these shoes are more for daily training meaning they're really not for marathon race day.
I'm about to run a marathon in November and in the market for a marathon shoe.
I ran with a NB Zante pursuit for my half marathon recently and they were great. Not sure if they will be fine for a full marathon.

The NITRO 2 had raves from all over the interwebs, and recently the NOOSA Tri 14 had a premium 8 score from Seth Demoor. It's tough liking all these shoes but can only run with one at a time. Great video. I have this shoe and have put in quite a few miles now over 2 months (don’t track but likely 100-200 miles now ? I sized down a half size and love the upper fit (while it is a bit warm now in summer ) . I am over 6ft and 190 lbs and like the v12 wider base than the v11 I have used. The weight is no big deal for a daily mile grinder IMHO. My one concern is as a slightly larger guy by running standards that you’re mentioning this shoe might be better for us and think that I am feeling some premature midsole rebound loss for a shoe of this price . I have used several other shoes from major brands and there are better midsole technologies in terms of durability on the market right now for a similar price point .

I really want to love this shoe. No denying NB have created a wonderful trainer, but at 100 miles i wish I hadn't gone down half a size. Toe box is absolutely fine but I'm finding the shoe to be a little too snug just below the laces. I've done what I can to loosen them without success. Sizing down and going wide may have been the right choice but I've never needed wides before. My own fault for thinking they might give a little and that feeling like a glove isn't so bad.
If I thought NB were reading comments I'd implore them to really lock in their sizing between models.

I think you're answer will depend on where you feel you have the most need in your rotation.

I have 200 miles on the 1080v10 and it's a great shoe except for the tight mid-foot area (I get red marks on the top of my feet). I suspect that it's a bit more bouncy and less cushioned than the v12. I have the v12 but don't plan to take them out until I finish with the current v10s. I also have the Fresh Foam More v2 and unopened v3 and the v2 is great for recovery days. So given that, you got me interested in the 880 and I'm wondering if the 880v12 is like the 1080v10.
