J.S. Bach arranged for clean electric guitar -- it really takes on a vibe all its own! Reminds me of chimes and bells going off to signal the start of Sunday services.

I can't get my Adam Schiff hot just yet cuz I'm only about halfway through this but I'm feeling the movement and @ 4:52 your hope is my pleasure looking for other things improvising. ...don't know what direction it's gonna take me but at least I tried breaking away a little bit in key and especially like that Melodic Minor B note break. Once I amp this up for folks I'll be taking 'em thru the stratosphere with me. 🙂

      Hi mikka1963 -
Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed the lesson and the sound !
That cello / organ sound is something I've been working on for a long time and involves a special pedal by Electro Harmonix called Attack / Decay.
That pedal is supposed to sound like tape being played backwards ( which it can do ) but I immediately heard the possibility of modifying the front end of the attack and getting that smooth organ-like or cello-like sound.
If you own an Attack Decay Pedal : Taking a look at my current settings : I always have it in Poly mode. Sens at 10 o'clock, H Vol off, Tone at 10 o'clock, Harmonix off, Blend full clockwise, Attack at 9 o'clock, Decay full clockwise. Explore and see what you come up with !
There's also a pedal compressor and a long reverb from the Boss Katana MKII amp.
I also use very light strings for separation and expressiveness. ( Ernie Ball Zippy Slinkys .007 - .036 on the Stratocasters and Ernie Ball Extra Slinky .008 - .038 on the Les Pauls, Sire H7, Astroluxe Cadet )
This signal chain makes playing very enjoyable and soothing as I'm not very fond of pick attack and sounding like a guitar in general. I always wish I was an orchestra.
Wishing you the best in your musical journey. Let me know if you have further questions or requests for topics, etcetera. - John

Really like this one! What year is your Strat?

The Strat is circa 1984 Japanese '54 Re-issue which was a gift from my friend The Fraish. I've installed a Railhammer BC Humcutter pickup in the neck position which is an very open & beautiful P-90 style pickup without hum.

Yes, so @ 7:34 I like the formula Bass down 2 Melody up 1. I'd like too stick too that but would like too know the genius of why and when too throw in Melodic Minor incidentals. And so I like this piece, I'm kinda slow at seeing the whole of it all. I still have to finish off from 8:18. So when you are speaking of the cousins and demonstrating I take it you staying in in key completely with the formula?. Just curious. 🙂

Yes ! The cousins are the same mechanism ( say, Bass down 2, melody up 1 ) moved through the key beginning on each note. If you get into exploring that you'll have limitless material to explore. Looking at pieces by Bach it's easy to see that he utilized these related phrases as they lend a kind of thematic unity. The phrases and tonalities are similar but not the same. It's taking one idea ( mechanism ) and discovering all its facets. It's kept me busy for decades ! Many notebooks filled with these explorations. Try and keep some kind or notes or a recording for yourself so you build a library of building blocks !
