Thanks for the video! Just downloaded the new light gun pack, all the same instructions, but coin ops won't even load. I installed all the suggested drivers, some said they couldn't install cause I had updated version already, but seems very simple and must be doing something wrong. My PC specs are more than adequate. Appreciate the help!

Great vid, do you have one that shows you how to ADD your own ROMS to coin ops next? I have the full version one working perfectly but its missing a few obscure games, before I start tinkering with it adding roms and artwork, Id like to know if there is a simple tutorial to follow first?? I did this with the Sega Naomi Add on Pack But the Controls Dont work for my XB1 Pad. I tried to configure them but the controls still wont work.

Hi John. Great work. BTW, what should be bare minimum config for a laptop to run this, sply for switch. I have an i5 dell with 8GB ram and a 1GB AMD graphics card inbuilt. Would this work??

Congratulations beautiful video, I also installed Coinops, everything works, but I can't get out of the games, the controller with BACK + START works perfectly, but the Q or ESC button for example in nintendo does not work, do you have any ideas? I think it depends on retroarch, in fact with the mame the esc key works perfectly

Also, is there a version of coinops that is PS4 controller friendly? The menu of coinops goes crazy when I use the ps4 controller.

IF YOU ARE HAVING THE BLACK SCREEN ERROR AGAIN GO INTO THE FOLDER ON THE MAME FOLDER IN YOU ROOT FOLDER ON YOUR DRIVE AND REPLACE THE 32 BIT VERSION WITH THE 64 BIT VERSION AND IT WILL WORK, REMEMBER MAME STICKS WITH WHAT YOUR OPERATING SYAYTEM IS SO IF YOU HAVE 32 BIT DOWNLOAD 32 BIT OF MAME AND IF YOU HAVE 64 BIT DOWNLOAD 64BIT OF MAME AND REPLACE IT IN THE ROOT FOLDER OF THE MAME FOLDER IN YOUR COINOPS

When I try to start CoinOPS.exe it quits automatically and does not start. I have already tried to install the directx and vc_redist again. Any solution?
Did you (Fixes when not working!!!) or try reinstalling it again over right everything or fresh reinstall
i found the solution guys, just move the CoinOps folder to C:\ and should fix it

Great tutorial sir, subscribed 👌 one question and if I'm being stupid please tell me.... My generic usb controller (Speedlink Xeox) works fine in menu but not in any games (apart from L2 and R2 to exit emulation). I know the preferred controller as directed is XB1 but am I missing a setting/config somewhere to allow use of this controller? Any advice/direction would be welcome, I've googled it to death and no joy...

Hey I got the CoinOPS NEXT 2 and I downloaded some of the Trusted packs for different consoles, I extract them and copy the collections folder to the Next 2 folder but when I launch CoinOPS it doesn’t show the new games or new categories. How do I fix that?

Thanks.. I got everything downloaded and unzipped but the App won't open. Trying to open the Next Arcade edition. Loaded DirectX and Microsoft visual, and the app still won't open. Don't know what else to try 🤔 ps using Windows 8

Hello. Found your video helpful. Unzipping CoinOps next 2 as we speak. Question I have though, this is my first time with CoinOps, I noticed you only extracted the first .rar file but you still had like 30 others just like I do. I noticed they are the same file size but question is, do I need to extract those as well or are they useless. I didn’t see you extracting any of those. Just the first. Is that all I do and what do I do with them?

Hi I have a couple of questions, I am new to Coinops but been using emulators for some time. I downloaded the 3DO pack and notice I have a 3DO and 3DO1 directory. the 3DO dir came with the base Coinops install and has 1 game in it (road rash) the 3DO1 directory has this game too. I deleted the 3DO directory to remove the duplicate and it does not seem to have broken anything however just checking this is ok. I would also like to remove the Arcade classics and the computer classics collections because I want to have separate Amiga / speccy and C64 folders and want to minimise clutter (as it is I want a light gun and trackball collection which I suppose I need to create). can I just check, is it ok to just delete these 2 collections and in doing so I won't break anything or lose any games? (I assume the "classics" collections are just custom lists which just pick and choose games from other existing lists... is this the case) Thanks.
Ya Mike it's ok to delete them you just have to delete the art work to so you don't see it show up 👍🏻🎮

Which controllers are supported?
A: Basically any controller can be used, but by default this is pre-configured for XBOX 360/XBOX 1 controllers and standard MAME controls for 2 players.
Q: Why can't I change my default controls and have them saved?
A: You will need to run ‘\- Advanced Configs\- DEFAULT CONTROLS Unlocked.bat’ to do this. This is locked to stop MAME from removing mapping when no gamepads are plugged in.
Q: How can I restore default controller mapping?

@@JOHNBOYVR Thanks a lot! I've solved my PS4 controller problem by installing DS4windows and by pressing TAB once in game and configurating manually each button on every controller i have. Now I have my DualShock 4, EasySMX ESM-9101 and a custom FightStick ready to play!

Hi, I run this from an external drive. I have a Good Pc, i7 4990K, geforce GTX 980, 32GB ram (win7) however the menu seems to lag and loading even old games takes time. Could that be from the fact I installed it on an external? if I get a new internal HDD shall I see better results?
I will be better but should still work have you tried coinops next main folder the second one down go in there and install the stuff it says
you really need to get it running off ssd to have lagfree menus. your computer is waaaay more than enough.

Installed coinops next yesterday. When i try to load a game, it goes to a blackscreen and then back to the game select menu. Dunno what to do...
Look at your anti virus and you will see that its took some files and put them in quarantine from coinops next. Try restore them from there. Keep me updated

I had this same issue. Go into the folder "fixes when not working" and install directX. Thats what made it work for me.
I just downloaded the Arcade version and it didnt have an exe to run it. I see all th rar. files part1 thru 26 but no exe. Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

@@JOHNBOYVR Yeah, I get that, but it is good to release for current builds for people doing searches. In some forums that I am in... the common stumbling block that people run into is that they don't know exactly what file to download to start. It took me 3 downloads to figure out which one I really needed. Such a simple and quick answer, and was very easy to follow in your older version to know which exact file to go to. That is why I was asking. Got it going now. Thanks!

Hi. I have a strange problem. I installed coin-ops next last week and all worked perfectly. Installed a bunch of add-ons and all worked then last night randomly (possibly after installing a pack) none of my arcade games worked
I just got a black loading screen before dropping back to the coin-ops next menu. Almost like it can't find the ROMs. Stuff like Dreamcast and 3DO worked but not megadrive or SNES.... So I decided to start from scratch and deleted everything. Reinstalled base (200gb) coin-ops image and it is exactly the same..... I have not changed anything on my pc. This is on usb3 external drive. Coin-ops 2 gems has the same problem. Any ideas please. (I did get from ArcadePunks but like I said it worked last week) thanks

@@JOHNBOYVR thanks for the reply. I tried that no joy. I have wiped (again) and re unpacking now with all virus and firewalls off. It's the damndest thing tho. It worked without issue before. It is something to do with mame however as I tried just running the mame executable direct from the folder and it does not work. AFAIK the only thing I have done different to last time I installed it when it worked is I am using a monitor instead of my TV and I have a dolphin Wii bar plugged in. If I get it working I will post back.

Ok well figured it. Incase anyone else has this issue... It seems it was changing the monitor. Whether this is due to a change of resolution / or aspect ratio screwing it up (TV is 16:9 4k and monitor is 16:10 and errrr... What ever 16:10 Res is...OR it could be the input change (TV was hdmi into a display port adapter and the monitor was direct into hdmi port) either way it works now . I neednt have deleted the 800gb of installed packs. Oh well :). Edit oh and just to add your quick responses to people who post here is appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know if anyone can help me, but I've downloaded CoinOps Next a few times, and when I try to unzip the files, I get an error message, something about the corrupt header and missing data? Exact error message:
Headers Error: Missing volume: CoinOps Next.part214.rar. Warnings: There are some missing data after the end of the payload data. 2. Data Error: CoinOp[s Next\-Media\Collections Artwork\main\medium_artwork\video\-Arcade.avi
I'm guessing I am missing several files, or I have some corrupted files or both. I download the files from Arcade Punks. I had several issues trying to download from there. I do not know where else to redownload them from? I tried the discord app, but I am not sure how to navigate that website. I tried looking for CoinOps Next, no luck.
Can anyone offer any help? I will greatly appreciate it.
