Even the most aloof parent can understand you don't take a call on mother's day from the ex with the current boyfriend and his family at the table.

It's So Important For Hurt To Comprehend That Concept
I have to disagree with that statement. Using myself as an example, I didn't have support, love or protection from my mother. I in turn recognized and acknowledged what I was missing by looking at things I try to justify it make excuses for it dismissed like it didn't matter because it did, and even though I didn't have that, I give my daughter all those things and in some things I overdid it until I learned to balance and currently still correcting my actions in trying to overcompensate with her things I lacked. Reggie's dad didn't make that acknowledgement. He was living in the idea it was good enough for him, even though he knows it wasn't enough, so it'll be good enough for his son. It's easy to give what you don't have when you acknowledge what's missing and make the effort to get it so it can be shared and passed down.

Her mother is an attention seeker at best and a complete narcissist at worst. She acknowledged nothing her daughter said and then made it all about her indirectly. Textbook manipulation.
And, that's not evening touching the reason behind her steady talking to her daughters ex. What pay-off does she get from that relationship? To spite her daughter? It's sick.

Not Joy trying to make it about her🙄. Her response to her daughter lets me know that she definitely pressured her into feeling like she had to be perfect. Shes not crying because she hurt her daughter, shes upset and fake crying because shes not the perfect mom she thought she was.

How you get this and she took accountability, apologized, and reassured her daughter??? You either are not a parent and don't understand the pain of letting a child down, or you really really need to heal from your own situation that you just projected all of that on that woman.
I don’t think she was faking at all. As a parent who adopted due to fertility issues, there are fears that plague us everyday of how our children will view us or even to make sure we didn’t make them feel different within the family dynamics since they are not biologically ours. And just being a parent period, you want to make sure your children feel wanted, not abandoned and that you did a good job raising them.

That would make me feel a way if my own mother was still talking to an ex of mine and I’m in another relationship. If I broken up with him, then my family should be broken up with him as well.
Not true at all if my family member brought someone they love into my life n I began to love them as family and grow a bond with them for years then they brake up I'm not going to just up n stop talking to the person n stop loving them because they no longer n my family that's fake n the love that I had for them would be fake too and I'm definitely not a fake person now I wouldn't have them around to family events or family dinner out of respect for the family n they new relationship but I wouldn't stop talking to them or caring for them ether

@@TheMrsSoto it's not about them or how they feel just as long as I don't have the old person around the new person, feeling won't mean anything my brother was married and he been divorce from his wife for about two years they don't got kids together and I still talk to the ex wife n call her sister and I talk to the new girlfriend and have a relationship with her also and she don't care or mind that I still talk to the ex wife because she not insecure and she knows I wouldn't try to put my brother and his ex together or have them around each other a person can't get mad or feel no kind of way that they boyfriend/ girlfriend family still talk to or have a relationship with a ex that was there before them I wouldn't care n don't care that my mother n law still talks to my husband ex I got him it's not like he talks to her or be around her I can't stop his mom from doing what she won't to she grown they got a bound that was there before me
What the the brides mom fails to realize is really the ex boyfriend uses her to keep the connection to the daughter through her. He probably asks her how she's doing ect. He uses the mom as a possible informant. Meanwhile, because the mom's need for attention is so high, he uses that against her. He figured her out. It's toxic! She needs to quit talking to him and go heal her neediness issues.
Terry is in denial about the harm is incarceration and lifestyle, however former it may be, has caused and is causing. Also, when Joy said, "I'm sorry if you feel that way," I screamed. This episode highlights unchecked trauma on the part of the parents/elders and their refusal to see how their actions, however unintentional those actions may have been, continues to create. WHEW! Keep going beyond your parents' limitations, Jazmine and Reggie. They did the best they could w/ what they had and either they'll admit that their best caused harm and everyone collectively heal, or not.
The god-brother is a breath of fresh air.
The first time I’ve seen a couple that I can say ,”they will live happily ever after”.No problems at all with the couple an amazing couple. 🥰💯
The mom was so intentional about learning how to move forward and do better. I admire her asking and opening up and allowing herself to feel her pain but not making it all about her and wallowing in that hurt.

Joy acting like she doesn’t understand not answering the ex call when around her fiancé is sending me.. Joy doesn’t try to understand how her actions make others feel.. Her crying is weird.. seems manipulative. Terry is another person who doesn’t want to take accountability. Everyone is saying the same thing. Just because his dad may have be more absent doesn’t block out his absence with his son.
Shoot, they have my blessing ❣️❣️ The first and only other episode of this show that I have seen, that couple had definite red flags 🚩 all up through it 😮, and I’m not entirely sure that the woman wasn’t being abused but this couple, you can definitely tell that there is love ❤️ there. Good for them!

1. I love Mr. TERRY, I felt so bad he was oblivious to the lack of bonding him and his son has, and he was willing to work on it! Yay for Reggie and Mr Terry!
2. I call BS on Jaz's Mom Joy! Shes a grand manipulator and I hope JAZ calls her on her BS every time! I hope they get better with time.

The unsaid elephant is that that is not her biological mother so the connection between them missing. You can teach the child your ways but that is not her child so the personality and characteristics between them are different. They need to get to know each other better, understand there differences.
Speaking with her ex is very disrespectful. To not consider his feelings also not consider your daughters feelings. The ex is not apart of this family anymore and they both need to understand that.

3. If the mother doesn't think it's a problem then maybe her husband should talk to his exes and we will see how quickly she can undersrand WHY it's disrespectful

This was a really good episode! Definitely had me in tears a couple of times. My relationship with my mother is definitely not the best and I don't know if it will ever be. But this does give me hope. If only I could get this woman to go to therapy smh lol

This episode seems fake. No one has any real concerns. This couple has been together for 7yrs not months.

I dont know about the fakeness but I agree that there were no real issues of concern between the couple but just the 'normal' relationship issues in families.
What on earth is wrong with her mother!? Does she honestly believe it's okay to keep a relationship going with her daughter's ex!? What if her husband kept a relationship with an ex? What if the daughter kept a relationship with the mothers ex? It's not okay! She's causing a problem and could care less. She comes across as very self-centered and manipulative. Manipulative by instantly crying, without any tears, to stop the conversation and to gain sympathy instead of addressing the issue. The mother seriously needs therapy because she is a mess and needs almost constant validation. How can she keep putting everything on herself and dismiss how everyone else feels? I honestly see why the daughter keeps her distance because this is a very toxic bond. As long as she's being told she's a great mother she's happy at the same time not caring about how she makes anyone else feel. I do not feel that short therapy session has fixed the true issue.
