    I have a pair of Challenger's in the CF Stead Stone Rambler leather. It's a great looking boot. The leather is top notch. My only problem id the heel stack is to tall for this boot. I lean forward when wearing them. I hope this will get better once I brake them in. If not, I will swap out heels stacks. My boot's have no flaw with the build quality. These are my 3rd pair of Thursdays. Might get the Brawler's next.

      I just got the brawlers in the tea core and they’ve broken in a tenth the time my redwings took, I’d highly recommend them, they feel like absolute tanks/bulletproof

      I'm considering the same thing after doing more research about them. I currently have them in the teacore leather, and i love the boots but they definitely skimped on this boot more than they let on.

    Received mine in black teacore this week. I also have the indigo Vanguards. These are beautiful but much heavier. Might be more boot than I need, but that's kind of the point. Came with the rawhide laces installed and a different pair that are too short.

    While the toecap is three layers of leather - vamp liner, leather toe puff, and the external toe cap layer. Its an aesthetic toe cap - the layer the toe cap is sewn to ends after the third row of stitches. You can see this on Thursday's website product page showing the cut-in-half view of the boot components.

    I have just received this same boots in the same leather. These are awesome. I have Nicks urban logger but those are pretty heavy boots. I don't often wear them. But these looks badass but sleeker at the same time.

      I know right? Some people are diehard PNW fanboys, and while they are good, it confuses me why they won't give any other boots a chance. These may not be as good or have the same over the top construction. However, I think they work just fine for the average joe.

    Nice review. Well done with getting your facts in. I agree the regular thursday captain boots are great. Put the poron insole after time has no zero shock absorption. Il get the heels renewed as they are good. But its not really worth geting a resole as this will be prob 150 dollars or euros and the boots are 200 dollars or 260 euros.

    good looking boot. what can you say about the width of the toe box? is it significantly wider than the regular width captain? they dont have these in wide witdths.

    • @thedapperdiary
      @thedapperdiary  2 місяці тому

      I don't personally own the captains but I'd say it is probably the same if not a little wider. My toes don't feel cramped at all in the toe box, certainly not like a dress boot, but obviously not as roomy as a moc-toe or wide work boot. I wouldn't say " significantly" as it is still tapered. Thats about as good of an explanation as I can give since I don't own the Captains.

      @@Gilad-000 I had to go up half a size to get about the same fit as the new Captain King Last, but then I also had to put in a neoprene insert to cut down some of the sloppiness and discomfort. The sizing can't be exactly the same because of the high heel and arch support style, which usually PNW boots tell you to SIZE DOWN, so I don't exactly know what is happening here that they run different from the Cpt, but I had to size up with the Hero model, too.

    • @Gilad-000
      @Gilad-000 2 місяці тому

      @@Highland_Paddy Going up a size can solve the width problem for sure but the last time I did that with Thursday boots they looked like clown shoes and getting an insert is just loosing the whole point of the leather insole.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy 2 місяці тому +1

      @@Gilad-000 well, I could replace it later with leather insoles, but might as well wear out the poron heel pad first. also, neigh sure what's gonna happen w' then toe slits; might hafta rebuild that sooner than later, but at least then could switch t' honey sole.
      The toe cap isn't too clowny here, but wish it was optional. not sure how much more the toes will spring, either. I view them as an experiment, but overall I find them more wearable than some others so far but not counting on the same longevity, etc.

  • @Highland_Paddy

    I'm curious to see how some of these leathers will perform over time, but most of the people buying these boots I suspect will neigh use them for any much heavy work or true outdoors purposes t' give me the feedback I really want. There are some other odd points of the construction compared t' the boots they are "challenging", etc.

    • @Highland_Paddy

      the long laces are a nuisance. they will likely also shred the gusset bit prematurely.

      Also I just don't think these boots are made for work and outdoor purposes. While they have heavy lug soles that help with traction the toe box is on the sleeker side. It's certainly more of a form over function boot. Would it be my first choice for hiking? No. Though if I do have to walk a short trail with rough terrain, I wouldn't complain too much if I were wearing these.

    It's an American company that sent the jobs over to Mexico. Nobody makes a PNW boot like people in the PNW. Save a little longer and get the real deal.

      I can see where you are coming from, and if made in the USA and location of manufacturing is a high priority then you're right. However, this channel is more about quality and style, and, I believe quality can come from anywhere in the world. Of course, PNW boots are very special in their over the top build, but I firmly believe these boots are perfectly high quality for the average joe.

      Leon Mexico is a boot making mecca with generational workers. "American craftsmanship" and it's good enough mentality hasn't been quality since the 60s. Anyone who has experience with multiple PNW companies or even views other's experiences know this. Take JK for example, NOT WORTH IT
