I usually don't have the paitince to listen to a full podcast. You guys got me hooked from the first second and didn't want it to end. I enjoyed every second
Im from germany, my grandfathers family was jewish before the ns time But that was the last generation engaged in jewish culture... I suppose im listening to reconnect
The song וידע כל פעול is a composition from the late Rebbi of Pittsburgh (Who lived in Ashdod, Israel, passed away doing Covid. He was a huge composer)
It's mamish hilarious to watch these disparate worlds come together. Innocent mendy , worldly modi, and mildly confused peri.... and modis excitement over knowing all the inside baseball about chasidim... so cool
I have to comment on that yiddish conversation they had, as it was such a miscommunication. The cohost (I forget her name) called the overly decorated room ungepatch, which is just a slight mispronunciation of ungepatchke, a completely correct thing to say. Ungepatchke is a pretty common american Yiddish word or maybe Yinglish word (I've only ever heard it being used in English) that means gaudy. I guess the original meaning is slapped together? I'm not sure. Mendi then corrected her and said ungepakt, which mean crowded, and that tzi unpatchn means slapping, which is true but not what she meant. Then modi said osgepatcht means overly dressed which I've never heard and I think he was thinking of osgepitzt/osgeputzt. My point is that she was pretty much right
Got kicked out of 1 yeshiva and 2nd told me not to comeback. I was accused of teaching other immigrant kids bad words in English. My response was they already new those words. It did not go over well.
I have very mixed feelings about Yiddish still being revered nowadays as "der mameh loshon" - it's basically bastardizing Hebrew with German and Polish. It's the epitome of galus. But Mendy, I was zochah to work with your great-grandfather, and to know your Great-Bubbie Goldie. They were true tzaddikim. Carry on their legacies! חזק ואמץ, אחי
I'm tired of opposition to Yiddish. If you know anything of Jewish history, Jewish languages are an integral part of our history. And the Galut has not ended.
Thank you Modi and Periel for having me it was a true honor!❤️
@MendyTwerski you are amazing ❤
I love the pure soul in him! Such an eidele neshuma!
Love Mendy’s good morning song. I play it every morning on my speaker to wake up my kids

He’s grandson of Dr. Abraham Twerski the late Psychiatrist?

The galus language has our people history buried in it. All the different wanderings we have been on
Ok but why is it The Munsters theme?
