This is the car that made Toyota a world class, high production, high quality leader for generations!
The Toyota Corolla spawned many MANY versions and different cars worldwide and is still made nearly 60 YEARS after it originally launched in 1966?
The version we’re looking at today is the 1983-1987 3 door hatchback also known as the internal chassis code AE86! Having 2 (4if you include the 2 door coupes!) distinct versions sold around the world, the AE chassis was sold as a basic low cost entry vehicle for many people. This was one of my personal favorite cars growing up and I always wanted one when I got older. Then Initial D happened and ruined my hopes of ever getting one of the best designed cars of all time!

Sometimes I get caught off guard when I cold open these- like not realizing the fenders were already trimmed back. But as I was going through the AE85 from Initial D, something felt “off” about the body. It’s possible that they have a different body between the AE85 and 86 versions, but I kind of doubt that.
