Can't believe such a horse would be sent to slaughter. He is gorgeous. And not vicious, only frightened. He would go for thousands in the US with his conformation and breed.

I'm glad to see how calm and patient the farrier is. He is really trying to read the horse and approach him carefully and gentle to make sure the won't freak out. They're doing a great job, I wish them all the best with the horses and other animals they rescue 💕

I run a 1 person sanctuary in Arizona and I have a UA-cam channel but to utilize it you have to take a lot of time with your videos with your editing if you do that with your posting with your checking on comments and staying in tune with you are supporters. Unless we have somebody that's willing to do all that for us our time is better spent with the horses. That sounds horrible because we have to have money to take care of the animals however there is only so much time in one day and we already work all of us work 7 days a week. Volunteers are fantastic but they're not always committed they come to have a good time to feel good and it makes sense they are not in it for the same reasons that we are therefore having someone to do this on a regular basis for us many times has to come out of our pocket to pay for and that is something that we would rather put into the horses so it is a very big double-edged sword. My place has been around for almost 6 years now and I love doing the videos but they take so much time away from the horses. And neglecting these horses to pull in money is not the easiest thing. Many of us live in areas that aren't in a city so we don't have huge populations to pull from. It's very difficult to run a UA-cam channel which takes that extra time if you want to do it correctly and then add a patreon to it if you want it takes more than one sometimes more than three or four people. I hope that clears it up for you just a little bit what a wonderful place

    What a great video.
My grandfather used a horse to plow his garden. I was a baby, still in diapers, the first time my grandpa put me Bauly, as he plowed his garden. I must have been born with a love of horses, the only time I cried was when grandpa was done plowing, I had to get off.
I have always had a deep love and respect for horses. No matter what anyone says, horses are VERY intelligent animals. The more respect you give them the more respect and love you get back.

those farriers did an amazing job! they knew exactly what the stallion needed and gave it to him. hats off to them! so many would attempt to bully and force the issue, instead of giving him time to process what he's learned. it will take time but he is willing. he has a kind spirit. he's just afraid and unsure of humans. No blame to anyone. im so happy he was saved! beautiful stallion ❤

Smart move, keeping the session short and not insisting the horse “relent” to trimming his back hooves. This gorgeous grey needs more time and safe handling training. Piano piano , as they say in Italia…Slowly, slowly….

luckily back feet don't look that bad, and once the front have been trimmed and he starts moving around better, they may even do with very little work from the farrier until he gets used to having his feet picked up. I imagine you will geld this boy, so if he can live free with the herd mother nature will be glad to do most of the job! keep up the good work!!

    Hello, just found your vlog.
They need SynChill for that horse to reduce the stress.
The company is in UK. They are kind to rescue facilities and often provide free packages when you buy.
They can work with him through email.
That breed is often strapped from front to back leg which is cruel and can cause tripping and hard rolls. Needs time to trust. Probably better with women.
Now front trimmed, balance and join up easier in round pen.
Thanks for sharing. Very big hearts there.
He could also qualify for grant from Horse Rescue Heroes to help with sedation from vet and pay farrier if necessary.
    Take care

Hele mooie plek!!

Try Dormosedan is comes in a tube, it may come in pill form as well. You may need a Vet per scription for it. The horse will be relaxed the farrier will be much safer and can do a better job because the horse is safer to be around. If you can not get that try a chain lead line up over the horses gums. Most horses become very clam when light pressure is applied that way.

Here in TX most farrier have short rope that they tie to a post for restraining the rear leg so they can do the backs.
The bigger establish where you bring your horse into, have a horse "stocakcade" that is design like barrier entrapment so you walk the horse in, pin him in and do your work. If this farm is going to care for few hoof'd animals, I would suggest you build one.
A kick from a horse is never a good thing.

    • @dshe8637
      @dshe8637 2 роки тому

Restraining a horse can lead to more fear and a risk of injury. This horse is already highly suspicious of people and would go straight to fight mode.
Better to desensitise the horse and train it to accept human interference as no big thing.
His feet aren't in urgent need, so there's time to gain his trust and get him trained for future work.
A sedative can be useful sometimes.

It's portugal where they are the local breed and more common. An older stallion that doesn't handle well (such as the feet issue) is not easy to find a home for. Could be the horse was trimmed in stocks in the past with his leg tied to a post.
