Bishop Bullwinkle yeah for sure. Automation is honestly what makes or break a dance track.... mixing and mastering I feel has diminished, due to new tequniques that make it very easy to get a “loud” mix

You can easily get AWESOME samples for free anywhere on the net by searching and downloading torrents, BUT if youre gonna use them for making a song to put out there I advice you to buy samples trough Splice, Sounds or buying Komplete 12 - Any edition will give you TONS of samples and everything you need!
