When I first saw this (the classes), what I found amazing was the good vibes and constructive atmosphere; it's notorious, unfortunately, that many master classes are just an excuse for some singers to inflate themselves at the expense of the students. I always found you don't get this feeling with Araiza, no crazy ego, no intimidation, no bullshit! I remember baritone Pietro Spagnoli warned students to be careful when choosing a teacher because that world can be dominated by greed and egos.
This video clearly displays how difficult it is to sing correctly and expressively. Technique is the essential foundation for healthy artistic singing. Musicality is built upon a solid technique. The voice must first be free to produce all of its expressive capabilities. Of course, the imagination, intelligence and a musical ear are also essential.
you feel that the student's feel very motiveted by the free and relax atmosfer and the amazing techer of course, the puur space of combination of creativity, musicality, humanity.thanku for posting
I just had the greatest lesson in "Fra poco", it really is hard. In expression, phrasing, the notes on mezza voce and glissandos were great. The tenor was great, build up some tension but it happens with the mistakes and all that. F. Araiza voice is so lovely, it's charming when he's singing in head voice. So many masterclasses arent worth it, i would like to have one with maestro
The tenor of the duet...oh god he's like me in every way, same mistakes, same tics, even voice. Araiza is probably the best Ramiro, you can see the dedication, suddenly is like schwarzkopf
A bit disorderly maybe, but very fascinating and constructive...I enjoy the good humor and warmth of it, at least it is not sterile and chilly. I love how there's a rapport and complicity between Mr. Araiza and the students, it is very nice. The Cenerentola duo are very good (funny to see them singing their characters in regular clothes, lol!). Thank you Stern1959 for this!
I haven't watched the whole clip yet, but overall I think Araiza did a very good job with the first student. What he didn't catch (understandably perhaps, there's always a lot to attend to) was the jutting motion of the neck/jaw of the guy. From the view of the camera you can see that his head moves forward and down at inhalation (mainly before a high/difficult phrase). I agree that there's an earnestness and directness in Araiza that produces very good results in the students. I think he manages a combination between technique and musicality/phrashing (the technique is there to serve the musical ideas, apart from audibility and pleasantness of sound).
Monsieur...
i think the first student is "sitting on his voice" but is improving- correct me if I am wrong to say this! plus clearing the throat so much is not good for the vocal folds

Thank you very much for posting. I like how Araiza works with the tenor. Unfortunately you can not always meet this kind of guidance.

the young tenor is magnificent!

i was taught by a very good tenor who was a few a lot shorter and I found I was so young at the time that i began to stoop!

i can´t stand the guy on the right while the tenor was singing Lucia Di Lamermoor. Couldn´t he just sit still instead of making faces?
The Rossini took on a different color. It wasn't sewing machine music. Promising Mezzo.

Cleqring the throat so much is the best way and healthy to sing
the second student is singing on the vocl chords too
Thank you so much for sharing this videos. Anyone knows the name of the female singer of the Rossini's duo?
This is awesome!! I wish I had a masterclass like this!!! Great singers!!! Where did this happen?
The second tenor looks looks a bit like a young Roberto Alagna and actually for me his voice sounds a very alike as well.
