The voice acting for Praya Dubia was really good. When they first started talking to Krill I was so captivated.
Gave me goosebumps
I hate that no one posted any videos of those lines yet…
I had my mouth open at that final line in the intro cutscene, I think the use of shucking is a bit more powerful than the actual swear in context.
This is a terrifying moment but it’s kind of funny to me that Konche is stabbed violently from behind and his reaction is a mildly irritated “cod damn it”.

A modern Aerith
What makes praya dubia such an amazing boss is in my mind, they represent people who are angry at the condition of the world and how its falling apart and they feel helpless in the grand scheme of things and can only watch as the world continues to crumble, but these kinds of people lash out at others for failing the world instead of using that anger to be productive and use it on those in charge who have caused the world to be in such a mess. Though praya takes it to the extreme and will kill anyone they believe are "no different" than the ones in power causing the mess and even tears themselves apart in pure rage just to kill Kril only for it to lead to their death.
Its kinda sad for a creature like praya, who was born in a world falling apart and feeling absolutely helpless to do anything, only to remain in the deep and continue to boil in rage.
Praya Dubia is twitter personified that's why half of her attacks are just her sending a hoard of mindless thralls to lash out at ya

For sure one of my favorite boss fights ever. A lot of weight behind the set up and the fight itself. All of the VA's put in their all, and you can feel it. The lore is heavy af
Some of them werent great and were great because of the audio tech

Dude I just got to this point in the game, I’ve always loved deep sea animals and as soon as I saw that long bioluminescent body I knew exactly what it was and I was so happy to see such an obscure siphonophore in a new video game
If the Flame of Frenzy was a manically depressed jellyfish. This game has no right to be this shucking good
I think it’s actually a giant siphonophore. (A mass of small deep sea creatures that bond to look like one big one.)

Fun fact that I learned while looking up this boss fight is that "Praya Dubia" is the scientific name of the siphonophore, which is what this boss is

Ngl firth was a bit of a let down after this breath taking boss fight
I think Praya Dubia should've been the final boss and Firth should've been a secret bossfight/alternate final boss you can only do if you complete a somewhat obscure questline to do with him going on a corruption arc, perhaps.
Something along those lines would've been better- I feel like being the final boss would've really underscored the emotions and meaning behind the fight, but that was kinda muddied by Firth actually being the final boss. And I was really enjoying the arc that Firth was starting to go on like seeing the bad working conditions in the Floatsom Vale, esspecially after how angry he gets at you after the treasure. But it feels like those threads were just forgotten.
Although i like the idea, i think it would be kinda unfair because, despite neither of them being the cause of all the destruction and agony of the ocean, praya dubia was more of a subproduct of this suffering that didnt represent its reasons it in the slightest, while firth represented someone who wants to keep the systems of opression running, even if he superficialy tries to help people, he is a revigoration of the system in place
Firth is the perfect foil to Kril.
He is affected the same way, even regularly changes his shells.
Superficially, he is blue, while Kril is red. Funny thing how we use a fork, while Firth uses a spoon. He even mimics many of our attacks and tactics, even movements in his boss fight.
The key difference is, Kril takes responsibility, even if he doesnt want to. He talks about being selfish, but ultimately isn't.
Firth is the complete opposite: He always tells us a lot of BS, but always acts selfishly. He even tries to BS himself out of the situation in his final moments. But he lies. He always lies, supports the toxic system, and in the end, it ruins him.
He doesn't do any of the work, kinda only tags alone, lashes out to us when we sink to the drain, and ultimately even steals the Perfect Whorl, just to shit-talk us and then try to kill us.
Is it me or did they change praya dubia’s voice actor in this fight it sounds different from all its other voice lines before this fight
I think it’s because chitan’s voice is added on top since it’s possessing her

I used Puffer Quill and Sea Cucumber for stowaways, and had upgraded the Claw adaptation to max, it’s really strong.
