Laurie I want to thank you for your videos. My husband and I are currently in Italy. As much as I have traveled in the past I never ever used a carry on suitcase much less for 10 days!! I took the challenge. I bought much of the items you have suggested in your videos it made packing less stressful. And I did it! I packed for 10days compression bags a must! I purchased the umbrella as well. Thank you so very much for all your videos and yes! You can travel with a carryon for 10 days. Amazing! Will never go back to full size luggage unless traveling for a long period of time.
Love love my Teva Tirra sandals! They have 2 straps on top, so more secure. They were recommended to me by a foot/shoe specialist for travel in Europe on cobble stones. I used them and my feet did not hurt! I have been using them for years. Just get new colors. Amazon also has a knock off brand that is very similar and costs less, Viakix Acadia Hiking Sandal. They are waterproof also and I just wipe either of them down with an antibacterial wipe if they get a “foot” smell. Highly recommend both sandals.
I traveled to Japan with the Quechua MH500 sneakers and they were perfect. Completely waterproof, comfortable, non-slip sole and after I changed the laces for a gray one, they became more neutral and good to combine with more clothes.
If you haven’t tried Merry Boots they are amazing. They come in many colours and can be ordered on line. I wore them every day on my Iceland trip where the temperature went down to 0*
I got a pair of full zipper rain pants from REI for the iceland trip and they worked perfectly. the only day it rained was the day we were driving back from Hofn to Hella, so were in the car instead of out in it.
Laurie - your videos are chock full of amazing tips! Thank you so much for them all. Do you know of a tiny umbrella that is auto open/close? It makes it much easier when dashing into a building, etc. my favorite umbrellas are clear - I seem to look up at the architecture when I travel and they help keep me from missing anything. On is a Swiss brand - we saw them everywhere in Italy among both Europeans and Americans.
We were just in Rome and outside a lot for a few very rainy days. But it was warm and I have very hot hot flashes all over so I didn’t want to wear nonbreathable clothing. I got wet some but an umbrella and sandals that allowed my feet to dry when out of the wet were most comfortable. 😅The day I wore sneakers and my feet stayed wet was the worst. We traveled very light (3 week trip) so I couldn’t bring special stuff for rain. Any ideas?
Ooh wet feet are awful especially with socks! I would recommend waterproof sneakers like the On Cloud I showed. They are more like slip ons if you look at them-just a few laces. The black pants are super thin too and in my hot flashes they were fine. Here are the shoes: bit.ly/3Ufk832 Hope that helps.
Thank you Laurie, great tips but I hate to say it what Americans wear does not make them stick out, it’s their attitude. As someone who is from York (UK) originally we always disliked the American tourists as they were rude, thought they owned the place and were downright dislikable, I realise not all Americans are like this as I have met a few who are lovely but that is the impression we have to American tourists.
Yes, not all are like that thank goodness. My hair makes me totally stick out. So I have stopped trying to blend in but to pack in only a carry-on suitcase while having enough essentials for that trip.

Oh I am thrilled for you! Takes strategy but worth it for waiting in lines at baggage etc.
Laurie, thanks as always 😊

Fun rain gear! Thanks Laurie!
Sadly, we had to pack it.

That is great for you!
try the premium shoe insert from SAS Shoes. Like walking on a cloud
Im sure you could sew on similar type straps to other jackets and use it like that backpack style when you get hot

Not yet! The umbrella I showed is easy to use as is the spf one. But with Amazon if you do not love it, you can return it for free too.
❤❤❤ you’re the best!
Hope the tips help you pack the right water-repellent essentials.
Where did you get your loafers you had on with the blush color block sweater?
Too bad the inseam for the Tall pants is only 31". Too short for me.

Rain and creeping bugs on that river cruise? 😢
the pants you talk about are both water resistant, not waterproof. otherwise, thanks for the ideas.
I can guarantee that those black pants are waterproof lol. No pouring rain got through them.
