I would definitely go through this guy’s videos and highlight the topics on the specification as you go on. Once you have highlighted all of it go on to maths genie and do all the past papers. And keep doing that until the summer exams. I highly recommend this as gcse maths papers each year are basically the same question just with different numbers and worded differently. Might be worth a mention that the reason the turning point is as it is shown is that the bracket is at its minimum (i.e. zero since it's squared) when the x is the opposite of the number and hence y is at it's lowest value, i.e. the turning point. The 3 rd example has no real roots which is why the y value of the turning point is above the x line, i.e. +8

      For this question you need to first complete the square:
      2(x^2-10x+c/2)
      2((x-5)^2 -25+c/2)
      2(x-5)^2 -50 + c
      From there you can see that b=5 so 3b=15

    Im still confused how (x + 4 )^2
    Came from the original equation 😕

    • @TheGCSEMathsTutor
      @TheGCSEMathsTutor  3 роки тому

      (x+4)^2 is the only squared bracket that can give you +8x in the quadratic so this must be used! When you expand (x+4)^2 you get x^2+8x+16 so in order to balance it out you just have to complete the squared bracket! Not sure if that is helpful? 🙏🏼🙏🏼

    • @inori_yuziriha
      @inori_yuziriha Рік тому

      ? what explanation do you need for that, it's just x^2 + nx + k, you take x^2 + nx to make a form like (a+b)^2 and then minus the thing you've added to make that square brackets. simple as that
