People buy passion, not necessarily just the art. They are interested in the story. The art is a nice visual piece but without the passion and the story, it's meaningless. You can't fake passion either. That's why these corporate entities are failing. They lost their passion long ago. They go to work because they have bills to pay, not because they want to.
I think the art is also a piece of it, especially if you're hoping to get adults to buy your comics. That may be the ultimate test for RippaVerse. Gotta take care of your artists. Story and art. The rest of the team needs to be kept small. I'd put everybody on profit-sharing, but the base salaries for my story and art people would be the highest.
The thing with comics is that you don't have to read them. At bare minimum, they can just be art pieces for nerd culture. Thats why they sell so many shirts/accessories with comic art but not many comics. Art is the most vital piece in my opinion. Its gets fans in the door
Buy older mainstream comics. In the case of Marvel Comics, stick with anything pre-2012. In the case of DC Comics, stick with anything before The New 52.
Lumping Mile High in with the rest of your average LCSs is juking the numbers. They are supported by a massive reputation and online presence. They have a much bigger cushion than most.
Idk y I didn't think to ask you about this before but: I was a NYC BOE Math teacher for almost 2 years. I never understood why the kids couldn't do the math problems until one day I asked them at random to read the question. _They couldn't read._ I never thought of that possibility, because how did they get to high school unable to read!? They also kept telling me I looked exactly like Tim Allen, because I was funny and one of the only white guys they got to see in their lives (teachers and cops) and I had very white teeth (I was an early adopter of hydrogen peroxide on my teeth)... I didn't realize ppl noticed... Then I realized why they couldn't do a 4 step algo I had on the board, or perform well on tests that were just restatements of the previous night's homework I just went over and then tested them on. So: the future of comics is dim... the kids can't read, at least here in NYC. I think that is why emojis exist for texting.
I would love to see someone holding a copy of a comic I made, but I can't afford to publish comics with my funds, or hire a better artist than me. I go digital because I don't have a choice. As far as comic shops, that should be a good place to find back issues, current releases, and meet with other fans in person without going to a convention. Keeping us separated is how they control us, and coming together would solve at least some of the current comic discussion because you'd actually have to hear what the person who disagrees with you think and you both have a better chance to defend your POV.

I am trying to collect as many old issues of Action Comics and Detective Comics. I know I will never collect all of them but it is something fun to do when I go to a store
just wanted to drop into your comments to let you know, I just finished reading Goodying, and thought it was great, maybe your best comic yet ( I really like starting stories at the begining), Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to seeing more from all of your writers 👍
The future of comics is dead. I nuked all my pull lists 6 months ago and completely got out of it all. Haven’t looked back since I now realize how foolish I was for spending hundreds of dollars a month on pull lists. 99% of those comics are completely worthless and are just junk filler books. Such a waste. Garbage writers, garbage artists, etc. it’s dead. Dying. Done. I don’t miss it all and in fact I wish I would have left sooner. Such a waste of time and $. Speculation and variants are so stupid and a waste. I bet all the comic nerds are no salivating over every Dr Doom book now. Guaranteed. I bet anything with doom on it has been marked up and marvel shills are buying the crap on eBay for hyperinflated prices. Good riddance.
Disagree, the product sells itself. There is no demand for crap and woke comics. Look at manga and franco-belgian Bande dessinée . They have no problems

Step one in fixxing a problem is admitting the problem exists and what is causing it. Until they do so, step 2 can never start.

When it comes to Marvel read the Cosmic books especially anything drawn by Ron Lim, nobody knows Cosmic like MARVEL did.
