Thank you for all the information. Tough having a 12-year-old and finding the steps to help prepare him physically and mentally for the next levels to only have to deal with the wild west later when looking into college. The information and insights you provide in your videos are amazing and will help to navigate this stuff later. Thank You!!

Great content! Thank you! We fell for the pitch with a recruiting service for my oldest son. Won't do it with my youngest. 🤦🏼 Money seems to be better spent on prospect camps at colleges where the coaching staff shows interest, but still trying to decipher what real interest looks like...a DM on social media, a reference to seeing the athlete play, a "personal" invitation, etc.

This is a great point ! Social media is hard to navigate and decipher! A like or a repost can cause young athletes to react ! Best to focus on strength , size, speed and skill development!

Agree 100%. The divide between the top college divisions and everyone else will be very large. Will be interesting to see what happens in the travel ball arena. Many are not going to the big events like they used to. Legion ball has grown in my area and offers better level of play than most of the travel tournaments I attended. Unfortunately around us it is very hard to find good fundamental instruction for baseball. Just playing more will not correct a bad swing or poor pitching mechanics. Great content as usual!

NCAA should be ashamed of how they let college athletics get so fkd up.

Much of this has to do with pending legislation and lawsuits! Chaos is very much the result!

Coach, you NAILED it with the academies. Hockey has sort of had this for years, it's call "juniors". It is very rare that a kid goes right from high school to college hockey. They play juniors first and enter college when they are like 20 years old. If you look at college hockey rosters, you don't even see their high school listed next to their name, it's their junior hockey team.

Unfortunately Matt, many families pay LOTS of money 💰 and do not end up at D1 level and do not end up with the education they deserve. Trade athletic ability for academic excellence!

@@coachbeede correct.....you're seeing bad schools with bad education closing daily as well.

11:38 wow I never considered this before. Post-grad IMG’s popping up everywhere. Like joining the military except you wear blue under armor polos…and better PEDs. This is bleek….lol. We need to promote club sports more. The top talent will still rise to the top as long as everyone has a chance to play.

Great! So I work three jobs to give my very talented kid a chance at select ball and some limited private coaching but now it's just more rich parents getting their kid to academies. Baseball will no longer be filled with those who are the best but rather, only a limited few who's parents could afford to develop their kid. In other words, you are selecting "the best" kids from a very limited spectrum of athletes who's parents could pay bigger and bigger money. Welcome to Baseball - the new Country Club golf. What a bunch of pigs. Maybe the real future will be to go look at how it's done in the Caribbean. Get poor kids trained up here in the US and then beat the crap out of the "academies", assuming the "academies" will even lower themselves to play kids who can't pay big money.

I have a very talented 2026 who’s goal is to play college baseball. Currently, he’s looking at beginning with a JUCO, D2 or small D1 program and moving up as he learns to navigate college academics. Now, based on your thoughts, I’m wondering if a “gap year” should be considered in order for the new landscape to develop.

If you take a look at the high academic caliber true prep schools , in New England look into ISL, NEPSAC, FOUNDERS conferences, these schools have been in existence for centuries and combine strong academic and athletic programs that will allow a student athlete to mature both physically and mentally! As a parent of an ISL -Lawrence Academy-and Vanderbilt graduate, I can attest to the role that they played in my now 31 year old son’s life!

There is alot of truth to what you say! I do think poor kids will still rise to the top, yes but i can't argue with you that there will be less of them there. Let's say Jaun Soto vs rich kids..The Poor Kid Kills Him..easily..but in the main you are right, no question..It's already true when you consider MLB players such as Mike Piazza, Barry Bonds & Mike Trout..Hard truth..I also think that you will have Gate Crashers Like Aaron, Ruth & Rose but they will be the exception that proves your rule! (Responding to sharps comment)

Peter , thank you 🙏 for taking the time to share your thoughts. The Country Club mindset with SOME travel organizations is not what athletes need, many need the man in the mirror to speak up in order to get better prepared for high level of athletics

As of today, yes it is very " messy". I believe things with be cleaned up starting in the fall of 2024 and late spring of 2025! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
