It's a good intermediate step at least.

Apart from the speakers (and the price) I really liked this. Liked the "bottom gap" where the streamer buttons are. If I am (as I am right now) have my laptop in my lap even with a fairly large screen it is not uncommon for the bottom to not really be clearly visible.
Imagine if it were reviewed from the perspective of somebody buying it with their money? Typically, if I've dropped $3050 on a laptop, I'm going to feel out the features, apps, and controls it comes with. Especially controls for the one standout feature of the device?!
To be fair, ShortCircuit is more just for first impressions and general thoughts. Not that I'm disagreeing with you at all, this just isn't a full review.
I'm wondering... Phone speakers have generally been great on high end models and take up tiny space (same with the camera module) and even though it's small, it boasts great sound clarity. How in the world do laptop manufacturers do not implement a speaker array for mid-high and lows instead of the large tin cans thats barely audible.
Maybe because phone manufacturers aren't in the laptop/pc industry? I mean other than Apple, other higher end phone companies aren't active in the high end laptop field as far as I know.
I bought one of their desktop gaming PC's a couple of years ago. I usually build my own and have done so for the last 15 years. But in 2021 I couldn't find all the parts that I needed for my new build so when I got a notification that Corsair finally had some of their machines in stock, I jumped on it. They sold out in about 20 minutes and I got one with a 5900X CPU and RTX 3080. I was completely impressed by the quality of the build...absolutely the best pre-built I've ever seen. Even the cable management was first rate. Becasuse of that experience, I'd buy one of their laptops without hesitation.
Thanks for highlighting the terrible standby behaviour in windows. I’ve been forced to use a dell precision instead of a Mac, and every time it goes in a back pack it’s hot and flat when it comes out.
I paid £1500 for the base model on Amazon probably due to a price mistake since it went back up to £1999 a few hours later, i had a few issues while downgrading to win 10 as reinstalling the drivers for the wifi adapter card turned out to be a bit of a nightmare, apart from that i am really happy so far.
Funny, in my country, they are generally considered to be a shitty brand. They are often called Corszar (szar meaning shit in my language) due supplying PSU for a large government program 20 years ago. These government PC's were quite notorious for breaking and getting shorted, even catching fire sometimes. For me the actual background if quite fuzzy, I was unable to look up reliable information on these PSU's or how they were sourced. Being said that I have multiple corsair hardware and really like them also had great experience with their customer support. I have a 12 year old PSU and when the fan broke in it, I sent a mail to their CS asking if its possible to get a replacement. They said unfortunately they dont sell it anymore, but gave me the exact specs and even advised on which chinese OEM supplier should I look for. Absolutely amazing support, was honestly not expecting that and found the part with their recommendation in 10 minutes tops.
I was THIS many years old when I realized you could change the performance tabs on the gpu section of task manager @7:51 THINGS I COULD HAVE KNOWN YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for this!!!!!
"USB Type-C Gen 4" - that's just awkward, how about just calling it USB4? "And it has Thunderbolt 3 compatibility" - that's part of the USB4 spec so...
The USB Implementers Forum are terrible, that is why. USB4 has 5 ways it can be implemented with speeds ranging from 10Gbit/s to 40Gbit/s, and only 2/5 of those support TB3. Honestly impressive how convoluted they've managed to make it -AC
I love people getting proved wrong by Radeon 6000 GPUs nowadays as I have a STRIX G15 AE and do record gameplay occasionally and it's fine. The scare in the market of AMD GPUs is pretty high because of the history but they have improved A LOT and it's gonna take some time for it to reflect in public perception as even ultra nerds like Alex here have the same mindset. Not to mention he basically has the best access to PC stuff on the planet at LTT, and still this is the case. Edit: I have had a 3060 desktop as well yes
I would love a radeon gpu. But I like ray tracing too much for games. Once their ray tracing catches up or surpasses nvidia. They will sell like hot cakes
Corsair has really been improving their quality in recent times, back before their cases were bad and their products a bit low quality but now the really high end stuff outside of gaming headsets (which suck) are very nice and feel premium. I wish NZXT fixes their shitty monitors and put some competition on them as they are usually 2 of the most common brands for new pc users looking for switch from console or just upgrading from an old system.
IDK man, they've usually been rock solid when it comes to PC components. Still using 5+ year old Corsair ram(Other than one of the LEDS dying) and a 7+ year old HX750i PSU and ran their Corsair Vengeance case for a few years 7- 8 years ago. I even ran one of their old AIO's around the same time, pump lasted a good 3-4 years before dying. The only issue I've had with Corsair was when they first released their Maglev fans. It could be that I just got a bad batch, but the fan pitch and the noise was overall just worse than a good Noctua fan with SSO2 bearings. I have no first hand knowledge of their PC peripherals(Mice, keyboard, headsets, etc.) though. Good to see Corsair killing the laptop market too. Premium components for a premium price though.
@@TheMagnumload They're too expensive in general which is why I don't buy anything from them anymore. You're better off not trying their peripherals, expensive... again and gaming headsets might last forever but they're gaming so the sound is bad and mice are nothing to write home about if you want good gaming mice just go logitech and as for keyboards the software sucks I'd buy a logitech too or some other brand

I actually like the height of the monitor on that laptop. If I'm ever using a laptop when it's sitting directly on a desk, it's always a pain ergonomically. But it's probably a "less" bad ergonomic position.
I think some people have a rare condition where they use the left hand for most things. Including the mouse. So they would probably disable the right side of the trackpad.
4:45 lol, having a macro column to the left of the keyboard actually works to center the keyboard, normally the center of the typing position is to the left of the center of the laptop
i would really like to know what OBS settings you guys use because i've NEVER seen OBS use the 3D on task manager when recording "really high quality" gaming footage with RADEON (1440p60 with Quality preset, H.265, CQ Level 14, 1 keyframe every 60 frames & HighMotionQualityBoost enabled).
Corsair gets it.. their new bendable oled monitor is proof of this as well. They innovate where it makes sense. Thank god whoever's in charge at Corsair isn't another disconnected asshole.
Watching this makes me so jealous. I have an M1 mac, and while I have really enjoyed using it, the 8gb of ram just hasn't been enough. Seeing how easy they make it to upgrade your ram or storage just makes me shake my head and ask myself why the fuck I went with Apple. Next laptop for sure is gonna be a PC laptop, fuck Apple bro, no idea why I did this to myself.
What are you using your M1 mac for? I use it purely for office work and media consumption and it has been great. Everything is very snappy with the base model and just 8gb of ram. Simple things like going full screen on youtube is instant as compared to my desktop PC which takes like 0.5sec. The battery life is superb and the speakers are amazing. I wouldnt use it to game though xD
I don't stream either, but the fact that the Streamdeck software supports F13 to F24 keys, which Windows also supports, adds so much options that won't conflict with existing keybinds. I got tired of having binds with existing buttons, only to get a new game one day and suddenly the map would change, or something else because that game happened to use that particular key as well. The streamdeck solved that issue for me permanently.
Y'know, the G15 is a great laptop, but the difference in chassis construction quality is pretty darn big here. There aren't many CNC milled laptops out there, the ones I know of is Huawei, Macbook, Razer book, and now corsair. CNC milling is expensive! The plastic chassi of the Asus probably cost them something like $50 to make. I can promise you the corsair is vastly more expensive to make due to the CNC parts.
Zephyrus is not plastic it's magnesium alloy. And there are actually many cnc milled laptops around now they're just expensive so people don't know about them. An example is Studiobook by Asus
@@ShortCircuit Ah, then I was misinformed. Thanks for the correction! Magnesium is of course way better than plastic, but is still way cheaper than CNC aluminium due to being cast, and have some drawbacks as well (although obviously not close to as bad as plastic)
I have this laptop and and its a beast. Its an exceptional powerful computer and I think if you re ran the performance test with the fans at extreme full speed it would have preformed way better than the compared computer. Also while playing Elden ring full powered; temp was 80c which is very impressive, and that's without the cooling pad I have to prop teh laptop up. This computer is so worth it for the price though. Full aluminum chasse, uniquely mounted screen, high quality 240hz screen, massive too. touch pad is very big and quite useful, this think is a power house with video games, yes a little loud but honestly if your playing a serious game your going to have headphones on. Speakers are decent on this but not really audiophile quality, they get the job done and I've watched plenty of movies with them and there great. Also does have dobie software which drastically improves the speaker volume and their quality and depth of sound. Hence this might just be a software limitation of windows 11 for these speakers but again, its not a boom box, or ment to be a speaker system, use a Bluetooth speaker connected to the laptop if your playing music, or your headphones. The keyboard, Cherry MX board it is fantastic to type on. Its smooth and fun to type with, the lighting effects are endless on this board as well as the touch bar at the top that now allows you to load up PC status such as your %CPU usage and %GPU usage. The little screen shows all of this information for you so you can see these statuses while gaming. The touch bar is very useful and you can make multiple profiles for either streaming, work and more. Thus if you press a touch button it can open a website or any app or even preform an action for streaming and more, really fantastic. Also the overall look of the computer is very impressive, really think about it, your going to pay 1.5K - 3K roughly for a high powered gaming laptop, do you really want it too look like your work laptop or something generic or be a little more proud of something that just looks bad ass. Anyways, this thing rocks, I personally don't think its very loud, and you can control all the audio options. Corsair did a good job with this machine and if you get there full warrantee program ($300 bucks more) you get two complete replacement computers if anything happens at all, not refurbished just brand spanking new computer. That alone is worth getting this thing.
13:24 - they have heatsinks for m2s already on the backplate. Which is a massive benefit, compared to Zepyrus that doesn't have anything coming with it.
how to disable modern standby, in an admin terminal... powercfg /h off reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power /v PlatformAoAcOverride /t REG_DWORD /d 0 the first command disables hibernation which also disables fast startup and features that use "hibernation" the second adds a registry key to change the system from s0 sleep to s3 sleep. this is technically for embedded use, but is useful on all laptops and tablets.
as a busy folk, I was hoping "short" in short circuit might mean quick and concise videos, otherwise see it on LTT. Been here since it started so still love it but once you get to 15 mins, that aint short no mo'
Elutronics 17 max laptop has the same track pad design and it works the same way but the alignment makes sense because it has a full keyboard with num pad. when typing your right thumb meat would rest on the right side of the the track pad.
From the thumbnail, I thought it had a handle so you could carry the laptop like a briefcase, which I liked more as a concept than the streaming buttons.

I suspect it is also a nice "excuse" to improve the cooling. There's a lot of wattage in there after all, and a bit more extra chassis space can make a difference between "insufferably loud for streaming" and "pretty loud, but okay"
@@J_Echoes true. I just think if they were going to have that large panel with the touch buttons on it it would have been really cool if it had been a screen. That's kind of what I expected to be when I saw the thumbnail and was a bit disappointed when it was just really big buttons
@@DoRC Yeah, an Apple touchbar like thing would have been great.
The issue with the Apple touchbar was that it replaced the function row.
I like the fact that the screen is higher just for ergonomic reasons. Looking down so far usually hurts. Normally you'd have to put your laptop up on a box and use an external keyboard to help this problem, but this laptop helps it without the external keyboard thing. It's a good intermediate step at least.
and be cheaper too lol
I use the arrow keys all the time. Very important for any kind of text/code/spreadsheet editing.
Bigg same.
I'm surprised that Origin was not mentioned once on this video, Corsair owns Origin, that's where most of the stuff from this Laptop came from, they aren't complete strangers to making custom Laptops.
Origin has always gotten their laptops from an ODM like Clevo or Tong Fang. V different to designing a laptop yourself -AC
IT isn't talked about because Corsair is just a empty brand. If you take their name off the products you would instantly realize you were just buying cheap knock off crap.
@@ShortCircuit Wait r u actually saying it's not and ODM? Like, the chassis is probably designed by Corsair or at least drafted (it's so weird, has no HDMI/DP, and ungrounded crap barrel charger eeek), but the MB itself - I can't believe this was really designed by Corsair, must have been done by someone else. CPU-Z/GPU-Z should show it.
@@ShortCircuit ua-cam.com/video/zcchDu7KoYs/v-deo.html You just confirmed yourself it's Origin. Congrats.
That pricing is insane. I paid $3300 for Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 5 with i9-12900H, 32gb DDR5 4800, 2 TB ssd Gen 4, RTX 3080 Ti, 4k touchscreen.
Afaik, ASUS and Xiaomi does, but that should not be a problem for the laptop industry as speaker modules can be procured separately from fabs
I recommend hibernate. Its not exactly instant but its a good middle ground between windows and mac.
Wow, all this time I thought it was my laptop, not flippin' windows... Will try "hibernate", thanks!
3:06 *"I USE THE ARROW KEYS!" Thank you very much, Corsair!*
The trackpad not being a mini touchscreen is a missed opportunity; for a steaming laptop, you could keep chat down there.
So, is Flex Seal a channel sponsor now? Alex is rocking that cap really well.
the high up screen is so so appreciated...
For a laptop aimed at streaming having a “passable” webcam seems like a huge oversight
Alex wearing a Flex Seal hat, this needed a segue to an ad with the Flex Tape guy so badly
cant wait to hook this to a external monitor and never have it leave my desk 👍
9:21 LOVE IT! Keep talking about this in every video man!
I paid £1500 for the base model on Amazon probably due to a price mistake since it went back up to £1999 a few hours later, i had a few issues while downgrading to win 10 as reinstalling the drivers for the wifi adapter card turned out to be a bit of a nightmare, apart from that i am really happy so far.
how do you find it now?
@@jub8891 still going good, running some pretty beefy games at 2k with good FPS
cant belive they missed the opportunity to add a built in capture card to pair with the stream deck intergrations.
This is what quality over quantity is. Thanks Corsair for doing what most others don’t, that’s being a jack of all trades.
The one floating hair
They only have 2,500 employees? In my experience, Corsair are the most consistently excellent brand of computer hardware.
@@Debilinside yeah, in the US their reputation is an entry level manufacturer.
This reminds me of that big desk computer thing Captain Picard has in his ready room
I' m so glad the RAM is upgradeable. I've always like Corsair stuff, and this seems like a decent laptop, but at that price I don't see the value.

What a distinguish person
Random to have fallout 4 in the thumbnail, but you know what's more weird?
This settlement that needs your help, here I'll mark it on your map.
You guys need to add a 'can it fit in the LTT backpack' stat.
Am i wrong on this... on amazon this is on sale for $1600 and at best buy.
@@haste953 Thanks for the heads up so I can avoid them if I ever get that itch for some Corsair peripherals lol.

So is Alex sponsored by flex seal (not ltt just Alex)?
also Corsair staying small and keeping the focus lockd is arguably what makes them soo good in comparison to dell.
For me Asus is my favourite laptop brand with all their innovations and investments.
The only thing i want them to do is make something which actually competes with xps15
What a weird disease. I thought it was there just so you could disable the whole trackpad if you want.
The problem with the great cameras you guys use is that I was distracted the whole video by a long hair stuck in his hair. 8:50
Priced 50% above the competition
Title: "Corsair actually killed it"
What they kill is what matters, to me , it is the corsair's first laptop
Alex should get more sleep. He looks exhausted
4:45 lol, having a macro column to the left of the keyboard actually works to center the keyboard, normally the center of the typing position is to the left of the center of the laptop
This laptop looks almost like Corsair's dominator rams 🙂
Yeah I thought it was a really big ram at first sight. Guess Corsair really do love their rams.
“I don’t know why you’d ever disable the right trackpad”
Me and other Lefties:
i would really like to know what OBS settings you guys use because i've NEVER seen OBS use the 3D on task manager when recording "really high quality" gaming footage with RADEON (1440p60 with Quality preset, H.265, CQ Level 14, 1 keyframe every 60 frames & HighMotionQualityBoost enabled).
I love that an engineer is wearing a flex seal hat.
For 3k I am expecting a LOT from a laptop, like, definitely more than what the Corsair can deliver.
For a debut, this is actually insane. Well done, Corsair.
Corsair gets it.. their new bendable oled monitor is proof of this as well. They innovate where it makes sense. Thank god whoever's in charge at Corsair isn't another disconnected asshole.
Corsair: "Hey Linus... pretty nice backpack you got there............. anywayCHECKOUTOURNEWLAPTOP!"
The G15 is made of magnesium and aluminum... likely not cheap -AC
I’m excited to see what Corsair will do in the future. They have tons of potential, but hopefully they’ll make some less expensive laptops.
his corshair is driving me crazy. I cant look at him without seeing that rogue strand reaching for Marco Rubio's water bottle. holy hell.
Watch in lower quality if you get disturbed by that. It's a feature.
And now a word from our sponsor: Flex Seal! We made this mineral oil PC case out of nothing but chicken wire and flex tape! No leaks!

Bang & Olufsen sound and Carl Zeiss optics would totally be worth it on a premium model

LTT has good cameras can see that extra long single hair hanging off of Alex's head in some shots.
I think something worth adding to these unboxings is to see if these laptops fit in an LTT store backpack
Wow a function row AND a touch bar on one device.
pfft, corsair lacks true courage

how to disable modern standby, in an admin terminal...
powercfg /h off
reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power /v PlatformAoAcOverride /t REG_DWORD /d 0
the first command disables hibernation which also disables fast startup and features that use "hibernation" the second adds a registry key to change the system from s0 sleep to s3 sleep. this is technically for embedded use, but is useful on all laptops and tablets.
as a busy folk, I was hoping "short" in short circuit might mean quick and concise videos, otherwise see it on LTT. Been here since it started so still love it but once you get to 15 mins, that aint short no mo'
i love the tall screen base thingy.

Elutronics 17 max laptop has the same track pad design and it works the same way but the alignment makes sense because it has a full keyboard with num pad. when typing your right thumb meat would rest on the right side of the the track pad.
From the thumbnail, I thought it had a handle so you could carry the laptop like a briefcase, which I liked more as a concept than the streaming buttons.
a moment of appreciation for the flex seal cap
All of LTT really needs to realize that nVidia isn't the only graphics card outside of benchmarking reviews.
The first 15 seconds of this video was just fantastic
Actually loads of people use the arrow keys.
As a leftie, I use the arrow keys instead of WASD. However, that's on a full size keyboard not a laptop with those half height keys.
You can disable windows modern standby by modifying registry and use standard S3 standby on any machine. Just so you know.
I like how tall it is, it's way more ergonomically designed than normal laptops.
I can't help but feel if this wasn't a gaming laptop, it would be perfect for a tall screen aspect ratio.
This is a rebranded Origin laptop, JTC already did a comparison. Great job from Corsair though.
