- In this video, I show you the 8 fountain pens and inks I'll be writing with in February! January was a very stressful and full month for me and writing was my saving grace: writing in my journal, writing pen pal letters, planning thing out to make sure I covered all the bases = fountain pens brighten my life and connecting with pen friends is such a joyful activity too!
Here are the pens and inks I talked about: NOTE: writing samples were done in my Bond Travel Gear 68 gsm Tomoe River A5 journal
1. El Grande Modified custom pen from pen friend M.S. M nib with Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses.
2. Jinhao X750 pink B Goulet nib with Levenger Pinkly - ink from pen friend C.S.
3. TWSBI Precision F pen from anonymous viewer/pen friend - ink is Graf Von Faber Castell Stone Grey my favorite grey ink.
4. Moonman Wancai Mini B Goulet #5 nib with Vinta Makopa
5. Pilot Metropolitan Retro Pop Purple CM nib with Monteverde Purple Reign
6. Lamy Safari Strawberry B nib with KWZ Thief's Red - my favorite real red.
7. TWSBI Eco Black B nib with TWSBI Royal Purple (pen from anonymous viewer/pen friend)
8. Benu Scepter I with B nib and Pelikan Edelstein Star Ruby (pen from anonymous viewer/pen friend)

Oh Chris, thank you for helping these kitties! I have “community cats”, some of them come into the house briefly and one is pretty well behaved. But of course the one who needed a tumor removed from his neck was NOT happy about having to stay indoors, and I only managed to keep him in for 36 hours!
Hi @speedbird8987 ... oh that is one of the biggest challenges for outdoor/community cats ... trying to keep them inside per vet orders after a procedure. It's darn near impossible unless they are groggy or hurt and most are such survivors they perk up after treatment and demand their home back. :) I imagine after neutering we will have a mighty challenge keeping Toby indoors any length of time. :)
Hi Chris! What a wonderful lineup for February! I love seeing your favorites in rotation. I can hear in your voice that it’s both exciting to revisit them and peaceful to know what you are getting into. I’m glad to hear you cat clan updates. I wish you the best in handling Toby’s personality and moods. It’s always a challenge to herd cats. 🤘🏼😹 And I’m glad to hear your mom is well. Rehab is no joke and I’m glad you and your family are able to support her so well. Lots of positive vibes headed your way. 🤘🏼😸🧡🖋
Hi Casey! Thank you! I need all the positive vibes I can get. Coordinating Mom's care from long distance is so difficult. But, I'm learning as I go and she should be back to her assisted living soon! Where we aim to do some fall prevention work. :)

Oooh that sounds like a beautiful pink ... I think I may still have a bit of sample of that one I'm not sure. :)
1. Best wishes for your cat and mom.
2. I've been trying to use up some of my ink by painting large (30"x22") paintings with 2" brush. Mainly I'm using up paper! I completely covered a piece today and it only used up maybe half a sample (total) of ink. Maybe instead I'll just hide my excess inks somewhere and forget I have them.

Hey there, @Chris! THANK YOU for sharing your inks with us! We also kinda "adopted" a cat who had been out on his own for about a year! I kind of made him MY cat....because he's s little "wonky" due to a birth problem...but the vet said he is healthy! I had a crazy cycling accident back in 2016, so *I* have "issues" with balance, so to see a cat that is SOOO similar?! Yup...Frank just melted my heart!!!

It is so hard to let cats do what they absolutely have to do. You're a great cat mom and have made Toby's life better. Make sure you're taking care of yourself, too.
It's one of the hardest things ever ... to let him out the door ... yet the stress level of the other cats and humans and the house ... my poor house ... he is doing better coming in and out once again. I'm just having a lot of stress over it and I hope after he's neutered that will help some with his wanting to be outside. Willy never did get over wanting to be outside and he was much noisier about it but Willy never peed indoors except in the litter boxes. I'm luck to still have Manuel mostly on board with this adoption. :)

Hi David -- thank you. Yes, it's hard coordinating Mom's care and supporting her from such a distance. I think it would still be a challenge in town but at least I could see her and speak directly with the people in the rehab. :) However, I have to deal with reality as it is. LOL Happy February!!!!!
I have the same Pilot Metropolitan. I purchased a converter and didn’t even try out the bladder. I really like the pen for the cost and I haven’t had any trouble with the ink drying out.
Oh this is good to hear. Early on I had a few issues but I was using the bladder converter and probably leaving the pen too long unused as well.
Hi Chris I'm happy to see you coping well with all the worries you are encountering,! I know it's not easy, but you seem to have everything under control 👍 I do commiserate with your mom, rehabe is just not fu! Sometimes it's harder than a surgery. My doc/surgeon does not want to do my surgery to fix my heart, which would drastically reduce the amount of medication i need to use, but the team decided that i would get through the surgery well enough, but they don't think i would survive the 6week rehab,! Talking with 2different docs i came to the the same conclusion,so i don't loose my autonomy i decided to go with their recommendation. It is frustrating at times so be understanding that if your mom seems difficult at times, she is not angry with you, but with the whole situation. I also have the jinhaox 750 ( a few actually ) and i still enjoy them. I've noticed that you don't use your parallel often, i use it for drawing mostly, but it's great for boxes, to highlight titles etc.. must go, but i hope coco gets better soon, and your mom as well bye for now
Hi Ann-Ingrid -- oh that's something that the doctors were honest about what rehab might be like ... I have to say ... it sounds to me like rehab is grueling and difficult right when one might most need calm, and a slower pace. My Mom is doing well all things considered and she has been very brave in such a strange new place! The phones stopped working in the rooms last week so it has been harder to check on her ... and I've not been very peaceful about it ... my brother did visit yesterday and that was a relief ... he put her on his phone for a few minutes with me. Now I face another week of trying to coordinate her care without her feedback ... it's very frustrating. Apparently the staff is pretty busy because I can't seem to get a call back about a medication question. I hope to God I never end up in a rehab facility for any reason. Thank you ... the cats seem to be doing really well today!!!! It's a sunny day too which helps!
Hi Chris, nice line-up! Just got two new bottles of Wearinguel ink. Captain Hook red and Peter Pan green from the Peter and Wendy collection. Wearinguel had a good idea with literary themes. First bottle ever of green ink and haven’t decided what pen to put it in. Waiting for a brainstorm!
Hi @lju5001 oh those ink names are great! :) My green ink go to pens are my TWSBI Eco transparent green and my Opus 88 Green and yellow Omar. :)
Beautiful Inks this year! I certainly understand the cat issues. Our senior cat Sox is now an outside all-day cat. He will not leave our senior female cat alone. Sigh... Hang in there!!!
Hi Sharon -- we were near breaking point by late Saturday. it's so hard! But I just won't give up on Toby. I'm grateful to still have Manuel on board with this ... the TV incident and the peeing made him really upset but we recovered and the TV is fine now. :) I got some excellent spray clean up stuff and I also got that stuff you spray to calm the cats down: Feliway. It helps some. The biggest concern I have is the potential for Toby to have a re-injury outside. Ugh.

Hi @karma13612 - I've had such good luck with the X750s ... granted I often change the nibs because I prefer B or stub nibs. But the M standard nibs that come on them often write great too.
@@ChrisSaenz13 yes, the medium Jinhao nibs on mine have been smooth nice writers too.
So fun to see you bring pinky back. I’m still making a final decision on my pink and red inks

Hi @pennyc6316 - I will definately do a progress report/followup with writing samples mid month/February and the TWSBI Precision will be included. I can't wait to really try it out! It's a really nice and unique looking pen!
It has the same nib unit as the 580 so simple to swap and makes it easy to clean.
