It has literally happened to me so many times and it’s so frustrating! Especially since I’m not usually very funny, so it’s not very often I make people laugh and when I do it’s really special.
Elmo has like, a facial expression and a half. There’s no mechanism to move his eyes, but the puppeteer said in an interview that if he taps on the inside, he gets Elmo to cross his eyes. He said he does it more than he should.
I don't remember watching Sesame Street a lot as a kid but as an adult, watching him being rationally angry at Zoey's antics and her pet, Rocco, makes me love and sympathise Elmo.
Watching this just shows how horrible of a “friend” Zoe is to Elmo. I don’t care if she has a bright future in geology and ballet, no reason to gaslight Elmo over THAT ROCK-

I stopped liking zoey after the elmo in grouch land movie. She demanded elmos blanket and then made a big stink when he didn't want to just give her something that was clearly important to him. Still hate that movie even when im a grown ass adult. You should never feel obligated to give up something that you genuinely hold dear to you because someone fells they have some right you your things. Thers a difference from teaching kids "being selfish and stingy is bad" and "give and let everyone handle everything you own no matter how fragile or precious that thing is to you"

I like that Elmo shows kids that it's perfectly fine to feel angry as long as you talk it out and don't take it out on anyone. Kids are told too often that they shouldn't feel their feelings if they're negative, but they absolutely SHOULD feel, express, and communicate their feelings for a healthy mind and healthy relationships.

It makes sense that Zoe has such a hard time respecting boundaries because she plays with her pet rock that basically has the same idea as her because he is her imaginary friend. The ending is so telling about Zoe. Elmo vents his frustrations, and all Zoe has to say is, "Oh well." She really doesn't care about Elmo's feelings and all she cares about is Rocco. Elmo is right to be upset and angry.

It makes sense that Zoe has such a hard time respecting boundaries because she plays with her pet rock that basically has the same idea as her because he is her imaginary friend. When you don’t deal with people all the time you get your way. It does not help that others around her enable this behavior, however they did let Elmo take his turn after rocko on the swing. Her life’s lesson is respecting boundaries.

As someone who has been in this exact situation (eugh, love sucks), I can confirm this is VERY accurate.

I love knowing the fact that elmo has a little mechanism in his head to pull his eyeballs inwards slightly, it just really makes those split seconds before he snaps or yells so much more hilarious. He gets that look on his face, you can see it. No need for eyebrows.
