In this video I am comparing the RF 200-800mm lens vs the Canon 100-500mm lens. I am also correcting a mistake made in previous videos regarding what elements are used in the lens.My apologies for misleading people on if this is a DO (defractive element) Lens.

I absolutely agree on your breakdown analysis of the 100-500mm L vs 200-800mm lens, and just to say I have the 100-500mm with my Canon R7 and use my legs whenever possible to get closer and is the reason why I get great images!

no doubt the closer you get the better. just because you can zoom far does not mean you should.

Maybe this lens "not being a DO lens" will make a positive difference. But to be quite honest, I'm super happy with the image quality I get from my 800 F11, which although not really advertised, is a DO lens. In fact, when I get the 200-800 as a rental, my 800 F11 is going to be the standard which the 200-800 has to beat..... or at least "equal" at 800mm. All the tech specs are nice to know, but how the lens actually performs for me in the field, will be everything.
But geez, that thing looks ridiculously / awkwardly long when extended ? And if I owned it, except for transport, it would be fully extended 95% of the time. I'm still optimistic, but their is a very real chance I'll just decide to get another 800 F11. After 130K shots, and close to 30K miles of traveling, in the last 15 months, mine is showing some wear. But it will still make a fine backup :)
PS, for myself, their is no "verses" with the 100-500 which would almost never be long enough for me. Plus, I'd never buy a lens expecting to need a TC 100% of the time. Even my 800 F11 is not long enough on a FF camera. But it's pretty good on my crop sensor R7. 1280mm equivalent is pretty decent.

thanks for comment I have compared this lens to the sigma 150-600mm in my opinion it is a tad bit sharper than the rf 600mm lens and as such would be shaper than the rf 800mm but not by much I made a video on this. I seriously doubt most people would see a difference unless zoomin in 100-200 %. Im on the fence weather to buy the rf 200-800. I might test it out though.
