This time we came in… ROMANIA!! 🌄
We love this country, not only because we grew up here, but also because of the nature and the views that amaze us every time we come here.
We made a short trip through Transylvania, a region surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, with many wonderful places, waiting to be explored.

Transalpina is the highest road in Romania. With a length of 146 km, it goes through the Carpathian Mountains, topping out at 2.145m (7,037ft) above sea level.
The road was built under King Carol II. That’s the reason why Romanian locals in the area call it The King’s Road (“Drumul Regelui”). It was opened in 1938, when it was inaugurated by King Charles II in Poiana Sibiu and it was rebuilt during World War II by German troops, when they needed a road for military purposes, but remained inaccessible for most normal drivers and vehicles until only a few years ago.

Are located in a valley that is yet very popular both in Romania but abroad too, Jiu Valley.
The gorges are pretty narrow and their length is not a big one, measuring just 11km which is enough to make every tourist fall in love with the gorgeous landscapes.

The name of the cave most probably comes from the Bolia family which owned land in the area in the 15th century.
The entrance in the cave is huge: 20 meters wide and 10 meters high. The uniqueness of this cave is given by the fact that it’s entirely accessible by riding a horse. It’s high enough for this to be possible and that’s pretty impressive.

Modest mountain resort Păltiniş, 35km southwest of Sibiu, is a scenic place for a short skiing or hiking trip. The resort was established in 1895, making it Romania's oldest.
It is delightful in winter's peak season, even though nature lovers may like the summer season better, when there are less visitors and you can stay outdoors for longer.

With its towering limestone cliffs looming 300 meters over the river valley below and the gorge itself dotted with caves, gurgling streams and rocky trails, the Turda Gorge (Cheile Turzii) offers a dramatic backdrop for an outdoor adventure. The protected conservation area is also renowned for its abundant wildlife, with over 60 bird species and 1,000 plant varieties found in the gorge.
