Hello all, the Kun Shoulder Rest here. If you need more height from your Kun rest, Lora suggests building up the clavicle section with sponge. In fact, we manufacture an 'extra long screw' which is used with the longer of the two standard screws. Most retailers should carry these but if you're having trouble finding one, email us at kun@kunrest.com and we'll see if we can help.

Thank you a beginner here as an adult and playing the violin has been very frustrating it just never feels right and I’m always straining. My instructor tells me I need to relax but the uncomfortableness from my shoulder and straining to hold it just doesn’t help at all your explanation is very helpful

I am a rather short person( I'm 5 feet tall) just like you and I have narrow shoulders. I tend to push my shoulder up and push my head down just to hold the violin in place. There are no music stores in my area and the only way I'll get a shoulder rest is if I buy it online, and the problem is I can't actually feel the shoulder rest before I buy it. If you have any suggestions for my body type It would be very helpful. Thank you. You video was quite helpful anyways.

Thanks for making this. Peter Mach was an apprentice for Joseph Kun and obviously they both learned from each other. I would have liked to have seen the fit on the back of your shoulder and not just a view from the front. It would be great to see a video showing the fit on various heights of people. I am short like you, but I got fed up with the non slip part of the Mach rest wearing off. My sons both have very long necks and they both have found that the Comford brand shoulder rest works well.
Hello! Congratulations for your work, very professional! So, I would be to try the second shoulder rest you showed in this video (that you prefer) but I don't understood the name. Can You write me about it?

Hi Lora, thank you for your wonderful video! I have a quick question-I noticed that your Mach One rest doesn't have the leather lining that most Mach One models have. I'm very curious to try one like yours but I cannot find that model when I've looked online. Would you please be able to tell me where you got your Mach One from? Thanks, Victor

I have a Kun and an additional pad on the chin rest, but it was'nt enough. Finally I noticed I have to wear a jacket too. Now the viola doesn-t slip anymore.

She said the shoulder rest won't go anywhere but here's a funny story - I had a rental violin with the Bonmusica shoulder rest and I was playing in restroom because I like to practice there. Anyway I was holding the violin with my head so I could put down my bow and the next thing I knew, the violin fell. I was checking for cracks in the violin but luckily, it was good.

I'm a beginner and I went with the KUN collapsible one. It seems to work for me but being a beginner I'm not sure. Still looking for a teacher.
Just ordered the Wolf Secondo, looks to be the best. Thanks for this advice.

Have you tested other rest yet? Bonmusica rest are usually restrictive in the movement of the violin, like shaking in certain vibrato styles.
+Black Knight I have an Everest shoulder rest too but the Bonmusica is my favorite shoulder rest because I feel very comfortable when I play.
Does the sponge/or clothe dampen the sound like the other rests do?
