It might be possible for a single person but if you have a family, it’s definitely not enough. In the 90s, the idea was to come to Japan for a year and save a lot of money. That’s not possible anymore. Much like many videos, it’s glorifying Japan.
Also if you have a low income or no income you can often get subsidies during summer and winter from your city. This is especially helpful if you are a student, since often your income will qualify for this!
