Honestly totally fine not having a meta event on both of these first maps and instead having a new world boss on the second. As much as I and much of the community likes meta events, I think it's okay not having another large scale meta event clogging up the global event timer. I want interesting events, fun secrets to find and fun. Having maps similar to core maps is definitely cool and could be really fun! Time will only tell.
I think it's risky. There is a chance that we reach a point where people just don't go to these maps after a while. Kind of like how people don't go to PoF maps very much. I also don't feel like renown hearts need to keep returning to the game. However, I think chill maps can work well. Grothmar Valley is a masterstroke of chill map design. Hopefully these maps will turn out well, but I'm concerned.
@@rainman6090 I don't disagree, with that sentiment. Although if there is a dope meta in map 3 and the world boss is a really fun event and rewarding then people will be coming back. I just think we don't need a bunch of bad metas and instead a few good metas.
For the meta discussion, I'm actually really optimistic and excited about this. I have had a HUGE amount of meta exhaustion. Think about End of Dragons maps, especially in a non-legendary lens. How excited are you, *really*, to go repeat Seitung Province or the New Kaineng City meta event? While there are quite a few meta events from further ago that are still repeatable because they're fun (what comes to mind for me is basically everything in HOT and Dragons End), most of the time players only do these meta events for rewards. Which is totally fine, but that means that once a map is no longer that profitable, its population will plummet if its not an enjoyable meta to run otherwise. That means there's a list of maps with unfun metas that aren't the most profitable that is much longer than the list of maps with a healthy population -- Thunderhead Peaks is DEAD, for example, and that's such a cool map too. From what I saw on the Bloom video, this is going to be a pretty challenging open world boss that requires coordination, it's going to be a beautiful map, it's going to have some refreshingly fun events, and as long as it's profitable (Anet please make sure the tuning on rewards is relatively decent here!) I will be coming back for a long time to come!
My issue with big metas is there's a time commitment. Sure it's easy, but a problem with things like raids is you need 2+ hours to do, but then you have things like Nayos or DE where it can take almost just as long since you might be fighting getting into a full map and show up early. What I like about the old just bosses metas is boss, boom next map, boss, boom next map. I think there's room for metas like that with difficult bosses. All the base bosses are easy, even the ones that use to be hard, but a just a boss meta that's as diffcult as say, Soo-Won...
I absolutely agree. I am tired of so many maps basically just being a glorified setting for their meta event, with no one actually caring about it playing the maps other content. So I am really looking forward to the maps themselves becoming the focus again.
An interesting idea behind this map with a world boss could very well be to scale the boss based on how many events are completed before it spawns. If little to no events are completed, the world boss is nice and balanced, no problems. But if you have an active map going where lots of events are done prior to the world boss spawning in, it will become stronger in exchange of also giving better rewards. I want to see maps coordinate event completion so efficiently that the boss becomes nigh impossible to defeat. It would be interesting to participate in.
Could Anet be exploring the idea of creating a new way for new players to level up characters, without needing to follow the original story line and starter zones? This would probably be the only cost effective way to introduce any new playable Race to the game, which then could only use the new way of leveling characters. I doubt that they are working on this, but who knows? Quite a few people in the existing community have asked for a new playable Race for years, so it's not totally crazy for Anet to explore new ideas of how to make this possible, without all of the new voice acting that would be required, if that new Race were to play the original story line. As for the lack of including a Meta event on these two first maps, I'm okay with that, but hope that Anet adds one or more Meta events to maps that are added to this expansion before its conclusion. Perhaps the first two maps will be expanded in the third, or fourth of the quarterly releases for this expansion? Hopefully Anet has learned from SotO and what was released after the initial release of EoD. Only one week until we see the initial release of Janthir Wilds, but we will be full of anticipation for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarterly releases of Janthir Wilds as well.
Just gonna go ahead and say that I won’t miss whole map Meta Events for a couple of maps. I get a bit tired of the “make sure you put 20-30 mins aside to get all the annoying pre events done”. If it’s just “here’s a boss, have at it”. Great. Happy days. I think it could be just as good as the end of a “traditional whole map meta event” without all the pre-event stuff.
The game has become way way WAY too heavily meta event focused, to the point where it detracts from the rest of the maps content. So many maps that people exclusively play the meta and then ignore all the rest of the maps events and content, even in maps as recent as SotO's. I look forward to the map itself being the actual experience and not just the meta event.
The fact that they can monetize any 3D asset they want as a Homestead object, hopefully means we will not get a repeat of the SotO asset drought. It's much easier to justify expanding the 3D art team and assigning more cool props for the world if you can turn around and sell them to players.
I hope that Anet will become more consistent with GW3. The biggest problem for me is that players can never expect what they’re gonna get. This pretty much always leads to unmet expectations to some degree. So mostly for end game content, only having fractals and raids, and not dungeons, strike missions, DRM or whatever.
I wish this bosses have special item like weapon skin with some cool animation but as very rare drop so ppl well farm them over and over looking for the rare drop
I wonder if there will be a convergence per map, which then is where the meta happens. And presumably the convergences will be public more often in a day, like every 2 hours. It would literally separate the explorable map from the meta with adding separate instances for the map meta/convergence then. Just thinking out loud here.
The return of world bosses and ridding ourselves with every map having a meta is honestly such a good news, the expansion will feel like the good old gw2, and I can't wait
Great video, from bouth of you. Its nice to see you enthusiastic about it. I think its just really beautiful world and vibe of it that wir geting there. And i agree on your coment about core map similarity, i find core game world deeply emersive and interesting, small events, hearts and easines. Definitlly looking forwards
I'm ok with not having a meta and going for a world boss instead, the important thing is that it's fun. The global boss/meta event timer is getting very full, there's a lot of events there, a lot of overlap and simultaneous events. Anet definitely needs to take that in consideration and plan ahead, specially now with the anual expansion model. Otherwise many events will end up dying out in favour of others. Personally I love map exploration, and they can do some really cool and immersive maps, so I'm curious about that.
The main part of most meta events is the end boss anyways, but I agree with your points. So these bosses being linked and apparently challenging is just as exciting as a meta event to me, there is some meta event fatigue for me as well I guess, eventually too many overlap so it's nice to break up the rythm here and there. I imagine the 3rd map will probably have a meta but who knows. I do like the AT AT style mount combat implemented for the boss tho! Looking forward to ditching my skyscale for my warclaw cause skyscale just isn't as fun to use once the novelty wears off compared to other mounts, but it is there for the convenience.
Not only the new animations and skins, but also voice-acting the *entire previous game* for a new race and potentially having to write a new 1-30 story as well.....as much as I think a new race would be cool and would love to make a tengu or a kodan, I just can't see how it would ever be feasible for them to implement any new races unless they got a sudden windfall and also maybe did like a limited thing (where they could only play the story for the expansion they came with and beyond, mayyybe adding voicelines for past combat encounters like raids but nothing more)
Or completely lock out the new race from previous content that includes voice acted or lived through content in ways that GW 1 did where your new character would instead ‘re live prior years events’ or something and jump straight into combat encounters and major plot points and skip certain events that wouldn’t exactly make sense to revisit if I remember it correctly although I could be wrong exactly how they handled it Your new character could instead give new achievements for playing through short hand versions of base story season 0, season 1 etc as a Kodan and continue from there
@windingtwilight The only thing in the game you would have been locked out of pre-searing Ascalon. Otherwise it started you in the middle of new campaigns, but there was never anything stopping you from simply walking back to the earlier content and doing it.
@@rodfarva5107 Just make more advanced combat tonics. Make them customizable with armor pieces for them. And allow them to be displayed in cutscenes like in the base game too. I would like them to return to map participation just like in Verdant Brink if smaller events are there and this could tie up it to the boss so people who will do events in map will reap bigger rewards when boss is killed this will incentivize people to actually stay in that map and not go only on train kill it and dissapear in puff of smoke. Not every meta-event has to be boss like I personally enjoy events in maps like Verdant Brink, Thunderhead Peaks oil event, Grothmar Valley.
Daily hearts..... this was already experimented couple of years ago. We learned that they do not work. GW2's strength is dynamic event, not traditional questing
Im pretty sure the big Kodan we saw that we fight in the arena, is the first Raidboss. All the Animations, special mechanic with sacrifice an ally seems like a good fit for the first and i assume the Worldboss will be the 2nd one.
To be fair, running around on the siege turtle is fun. There's a lot of weight to its movement and you're rewarded for staying at speed. Unfortunately, the optimal thing to do is to stand in once place spamming the 1 key alone without a gunner.
im happy to have maps where things calm the fuck down a bit. having high point after high point after high point after high point is really burnout inducing. like we were so inundated with crazy world ending stuff that eparch was a fart in the wind. characters whos deaths were meant to elicit an emotional reaction left us entirely indifferent. im ready for a SLOW build up to whatever the next threat is.
The only hearts I find annoying are the ones that require exclusively killing. The swamp one in Queensdale is a perfect example, you have people racing from portal to portal trying to get the credit, and it can get almost competitive when it really shouldn't be.
I love that they went almost for a base map maps Nice Work Arenanet will be buying the expansion November when i have fixed and upgraded my computer ,and love the movment of the warclaw is going to be my favouret mount i will be making a new character from scratch for it, dont like that the armor set is locked behind wvw game play.
I want to be able to hire npc to live in my village not just my characters , maybe have a dailie assault on your home instance you have to defend for loot but it only triggers if you want it to happen and it dos not damage what you have built.
There are just too many damn meta events in the game. It's super cool that we're getting an expansion with maps that aren't tailor built around a meta. We can actually explore the world in our MMORPG this time. Thank god.
The meta thing is not amazing imo. I still think the world boss could be a worthy substitution for a meta event! My only concern is the replayavility of the first map. I hope there is some events giving decent gold so that people still come back to play them weeks after launch of JW. Overall, I am pretty hyped for JW. I think they went all in with housing cutting a bit short on stuff like a full-fetched meta event. If housing is really as great as the previews suggest, this tradeoff was all worth it!
I sincerely disagree, I don't want to see another meta. Not because of SotO, but because there are already so many to do. When's the last time you went to Siren's Landing? Draconis Mons? Kamadan? They always try to one-up themselves with metas, and it usually leads to a Kralkatorik situation. Who does that meta anymore, and doesn't struggle to pick up a group?
If im being honest, with Janet being open to having world bosses instead of metas then I see no reason why map 1 cant have a world boss as well. World bosses are way less disruptive to the map flow compared to metas so forgoing both for map 1 to me feels like they are throwing woth the first map. 2 world bosses would be way better.
Is there a limit how large you can increase objects in your homestead. Because I want to increase a statue of my own character to the size of the Eifel Tower
Could it be that they sort of intend the new convergence to take the place of a normal meta event? Convergences already feel kinda like meta events to me. Just separated from the regular open world for conveniance.
I don't care about the lack of a meta event if the world booses are good. Infact, as Bloom said, the boss is the best part of a meta anyway, so why not trim the fat and skip to it. For example, if i could skip to Soo Won in Dragon's end without all the escort stuff before i would play that map more.
The problem with adding a new race is that unless it's a cat / bunny girl not enough people will play it for it to be a worthwhile use of limited design and development resources. I do wish we had dwarves (now that we have had SoO the lore could happen for them to come back), and Tengu, and some others. But... I'm not sure I'd actually play one of them often enough. And we all know from looking at other MMOs what people will be willing to re-level or pay to swap to and what they won't. So yeah... cat / bunny girls or just move on to more content. Like $wim wear for the cash shop... ok yeah. They already got the memo.
The boss is the coolest part of a meta anyway and I’m not a fan of those long meta events. I’d rather have less content that’s more compact and more fun to play. Excited for this new/old direction!
I'm so tired of maps that only exist for a meta and are constantly reset/refreshed. I'm more than cool with the change of pace. I don't mind a new Drakkar style World boss though, it's been a while since we've had one of those.
I am mixed about the no meta events things. In a way, meta events have been the most epic stuff the game has ever done. In another, the last ones have been straight up dogshit. I'd rather have an ok boss that is on a timer than having to run in a map doing events i don't care about just because is needed to do a dogshit boss they had to ''rush''. This can lead to maps that are not created around a meta event that unless that is running is just not worth even being in.
awesome.. the last thing i wanted is a long ass fucking meta event that lasts 1-2 hours... and everyone just tries to leech by coming right at the end. We have enough of those... what a breath of fresh air.
The soto metas, they focused so much on the long chains of side objectives that the bosses themselves were pretty bland. Skywatch they were just basic champions. I'd rather they focus on the bosses, if there's a couple pre events leading up to the boss like some of the older bosses, that would be enough for me.
With the exclusion of large scale, event chain meta events in JW, I want my money back. I don't think every map needs one. I defended not having one in the first map. But launching without one at all? Thats not acceptable. And to write in such a way to imply we were getting it? Metas and Strikes are essentially the only thing I do in game. A world boss that spawns out of nowhere with no build up is not the same.
You can always mail them for a refund. And also, should have researched what you were getting instead of just spending your money mindlessly. It's kind of your fault.
@@frankmills1917 Tried as soon as the news dropped. Because the pre-order has unlockable bonuses on your account (Shoulders, for example), they're not refunding it. It is my fault for pre-ordering. But the way Arenanet worded what we would be getting, while not a lie, was intentionally misleading.
recently got a friend to play gw2, do u guys think they can jump into janthir wilds content without the other expacs? thinking to maybe get them PoF+HoT bundle but not soto/EoD
I sure hope not. I’d be all for new dynamic wvw(objective)/pvp kind of events, but that just sounds like turning wvw into another pve map. Imagine your T3 keeps being taken without a proper defense because a bunch of goons decided to play the pve meta event and force a queue on that wvw map
@McKillaboy Yes cuz most players Wana do content with zero gain from time spent... plus he legit said "Most players" witch is a true statement so idk why ur super booty hurt with what he said in the first place.
@@MightyTeapot Me personally, I just want a couple of hours of brainrot after a long day at work. And a lot of friends have the same mindset as they mindlessly grind PoE maps. Are you sure about the 99.9%? I'm not trying to be offensive, might be a good topic for a video.
Personally i am glad there aren't any meta events, I don't like them. They are interesting in concept but ultimately are just a mindless zerg where i rush to tag mobs for participation while ultimately doing nothing. The only fun part for me are the bosses.
There are way too many metas. At a certain point, people will choose to do only one type of it because repeatability comes with rewards. Let's not clog the Global Event timer, and instead appreciate what we have here.
I don’t want map bound meta events. Map completion that requires meta event progress to grab points of interests is dumb in my opinion. I don’t hate meta events, I dislike locking map completion to needing it.
Think they moved away from metas so that smaller groups could still do this event in 2 years time when people moved on Also with the sheer abount of metas already in the game less people do them all and they would rather ad content that gets played regularly .
In Soto there was nothing to do on a map outside of the meta. In Janthir Wilds there is not even a meta to do. So it's basically just a map with nothing on it except a glorified golem.
I do not mind meta events but all the maps having meta events make them really boring. I like having variation in different styles of maps with different content.
Look, this probably isn't a popular sentiment in this community, but speaking for myself all I can say is hell yes to no map metas! I am so tired of metas; they all feel the same, and I haven't been interested in them for years. The game is at its least interesting when a giant mob of people zerg around melting waves of meaningless enemies. Give me smaller scale stuff where individual contributions can be seen and have an impact over that any day.
I would honestly skip this expansion if I knew ahead of time it didn't have meta events. Meta event focused maps are my favorite. Heart/Dailies are what I hate. I'm now concerned.
Alince server EU is Worst server I seen in 8years of gaming GW2. I deep dont recomend join, anything moderators consider bad will lead ban . So many people got baned for emojis, for memes, jokes, nothing about warnings or anything like that. If u get in admins eye in bad way they will find reason to block people. Dictator ship like in Handmaid’s Tale. All over insulting people and those people dont get even warning homofopia even disability discrimination. Left by my self could not take more this horror

I want to be able to hire npc to live in my village not just my characters , maybe have a dailie assault on your home instance you have to defend for loot but it only triggers if you want it to happen and it dos not damage what you have built.
i think 1 explorable map 1 world boss map and 1 meta event map would be nice
There are just too many damn meta events in the game. It's super cool that we're getting an expansion with maps that aren't tailor built around a meta. We can actually explore the world in our MMORPG this time. Thank god.
Ah so it's like shiverpeaks without the snow.
Did I see baby warclaws as ranger pets? That would be so cool!!!
YES!
Would love a new Fractal where you use the new warclaw jumping system
LetsGo Hype LetsGo
eyes wide mouth open TREEING
I don't care about the lack of a meta event if the world booses are good. Infact, as Bloom said, the boss is the best part of a meta anyway, so why not trim the fat and skip to it. For example, if i could skip to Soo Won in Dragon's end without all the escort stuff before i would play that map more.
imo they made the warclaw way too strong, completely overshadows springer and jackal
Then don’t use the warclaw ez
Then you know which mounts they are reworking in future expacs
Excited for this new/old direction!
when was the last time they added a worlds boss to the game?
I'm rather glad to see the return of world bosses
I'm actually pretty happy that we are getting some world bosses instead of a meta. I'm honestly a bit tired of the big map-wide metas.
Hearts just killed my hype
Whats diff between meta event and world bosses?
Do i need a lvl 80 character to get into the new expansion content?
I'm so tired of maps that only exist for a meta and are constantly reset/refreshed. I'm more than cool with the change of pace. I don't mind a new Drakkar style World boss though, it's been a while since we've had one of those.
One piece Elbaf Arc is coming and Janthir both based on Nordic
I am mixed about the no meta events things. In a way, meta events have been the most epic stuff the game has ever done. In another, the last ones have been straight up dogshit. I'd rather have an ok boss that is on a timer than having to run in a map doing events i don't care about just because is needed to do a dogshit boss they had to ''rush''. This can lead to maps that are not created around a meta event that unless that is running is just not worth even being in.
awesome.. the last thing i wanted is a long ass fucking meta event that lasts 1-2 hours... and everyone just tries to leech by coming right at the end.
We have enough of those... what a breath of fresh air.
can someone explain me the breaker joke plz ?
I would rather have a cool world boos with decent mechanics than another Amnytas or Eparch Meta without any real mechanics attached to the boss
Hope this blue rings blunbar breakers if successful come to other instances out of jw
@@TriddyYT I guess that's quite unfortunate. I hope you get what's best for you!
So you want an hour long mindless zerg that ends in a fun boss instead of just going to the fun boss?
Weird. But you do you
Open World Warclaw = Springer + jackal
Please...Playable Tengu...
recently got a friend to play gw2, do u guys think they can jump into janthir wilds content without the other expacs? thinking to maybe get them PoF+HoT bundle but not soto/EoD
Yeh. I think so. It seems very independent of a dlc they can jump in right away.
i like worldbosses over meta events but what if meta was just disabled in the beta?
Now give us a wvw meta event with a neutral zone for a boss encounter
That is called a Pve map, and there are plenty of those
Imagine the different worlds actually working together for once, that sounds like a dream.
Can the 20th arrive already?
25:00 my dude, not everyone is all about the rewards
99.9% of GW2 players are
@McKillaboy Yes cuz most players Wana do content with zero gain from time spent... plus he legit said "Most players" witch is a true statement so idk why ur super booty hurt with what he said in the first place.
I want solo raids
Im not bothered if no meta....I can't do another meta to the list .......too many....this is better.
Hearts again, nooooo
Getting a negative vibe. Will look a this later, for now I just want info and see all the things to too
In Soto there was nothing to do on a map outside of the meta. In Janthir Wilds there is not even a meta to do. So it's basically just a map with nothing on it except a glorified golem.
Expac didnt come out yet btw
@@iRoXsOxAlOt they announced all of the content btw
I do not mind meta events but all the maps having meta events make them really boring. I like having variation in different styles of maps with different content.
😂😂😂absolute 🐕 💩 game
Too bad wait on next expack then
gw2 isnt about the combat? wtf is that 🤡 smoking?
Brother, wtf is going on with your video edits? the sound crinkles and cracks like every 5 6 seconds it s so annoying. It happens only on your videos.
story so bad, cannot even bother to follow it anymore
Dead game lmao
Alince server EU is Worst server I seen in 8years of gaming GW2. I deep dont recomend join, anything moderators consider bad will lead ban . So many people got baned for emojis, for memes, jokes, nothing about warnings or anything like that. If u get in admins eye in bad way they will find reason to block people. Dictator ship like in Handmaid’s Tale. All over insulting people and those people dont get even warning homofopia even disability discrimination. Left by my self could not take more this horror
