18 degrees here this morning, T6 10W-30 and hotshot secret for our 21 3500, smooth start at 5am. Let the oil temp get up to 150 before I took off but that's just me. Some may call it a waste of fuel but it makes me feel better👍Thanks for the pointers Paul👍
-10 in Idaho driving home last night. Had the front cover on and maintained 210 oil temp. And the windows were freezing up inside. Kids thought it was cool.
As a Canadian I never plug in my vehicles. Who wants to be able to leave home and then get their vehicle stuck at work if it can't restart there? The only caveat to that is if you live in a remote location...then you need to have a working vehicle at all times in case of emergency.
As a Canadian only reason I plug in my vehicles (albeit gas) is because they heat up quicker. My crown vic will have heat within 5 minutes idling if it's plugged in and -40. If its not plugged in and 0f it'll be double the time idling for the same amount of heat.
Have a 22, was -21 (F) a couple days ago and couldn’t plug in my truck. It struggled just a tiny bit and started right up. No extra anti-gel, just pump diesel, no codes from def being frozen.
Thanks for the sharing these tips. Quick question for ya. I have a 2023 F350 HO with 4000 miles on it and I was wondering how soon to switch to full synthetic oil. FYI: I leave in TX and hot weather starts roughly around June here. Thanks for the heads up.
I was told by amsoil after 5k at least, closer to 10k. Let the original oil be the break in oil because the higher end synthetics supposably stop the friction for break in.
I just bought a 2023 6.7 2500. Has 7k miles on it now just got the oil change today. They put 15w-40 in it at the dealer and since then today it’s been ticking. The truck calls for 10w30 though! What are your thoughts? Been watching you for years! Love your videos.
Off subject. I have a question for you... have you had opportunity to check out ford's new f600? 7.3 gas engine. Like you these emissions on diesel engines are driving me to poor house and become unreliable.. thank you in advance for your input reply.
If you are not pulling heavy for a living, the 7.3 gas engine is a much better investment, or lack there of. 10-12k less to purchase, and let’s not even talk about maintenance. These diesels are RIDICULOUS. An oil change alone is more than double and then there are the fuel filters every 20k miles. Hell Ford wants 200 bucks just to do that! I am not sure what the downside is.
Your DEF will freeze up. It has a heater to thaw it out. Once it’s up to temp the computer will resume its use. Good video as always.
no sir
Love the "500K" sticker on the 2014 Ram 3500. She earned it.

This is why diesel sucks as a daily. Doesn't do u any good if it doesn't start wen u can't plug it in
Anything to prevent the def from freezing? How about a video with your take on the Cummins diesel gate fine, and their response for ram truck owners.
Never fill it full. Keep it half or 1/4 and the heater will keep it from melting
Clean the corrosion off the battery terminals, makes a big difference in the negative temps.

Anti gel will be needed if you continue to do this lol
I would not recommend using howes, certainly not up here in Maine.
Hi Paul, what are your thoughts on the recall Cummins/ram just sent out
What fender flares are those? Been looking for some for my truck and those look really good

I like the 10k mark.
Awesome Thank You!@@pddieselpower
Paul what is your take on the recall new?

Get that oil out asap. If it were to be summer time. I would say heck with it. Get it right next time. But being winter. Get that oil out of there.
Yep thats not the right oil. I think since 2019 it's been 5w 40 or 10w 30. 15w 40 will screw up you lifters and kill your engine.
